[history]
March 18, 2004 -- Vice President Dick Cheney yesterday ripped into Democratic nominee John Kerry as a weak waffler with lousy judgment who'd have left Saddam Hussein in power and is insulting steadfast allies like Britain. "It is not an impressive record for someone who aspires to become commander in chief in this time of testing for our country," Cheney said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., after a bomb ripped through a Baghdad hotel.

Dick Cheney is and always has been very impressive. No bells and whistles, just the facts.

Cheney unleashed!

Reminds me of one of those Cousteau documentaries where a shark circles and then tears huge hunks of flesh out of a dead whale's blubbery hide.
To: kattracks
Cheney also blasted Kerry for his vote last fall against $87 billion to support U.S. operations in Iraq, including body armor and other troop needs - a vote that's now the focus of a Bush-Cheney TV attack ad.
Wrong! I saw the ad. It was
not an "attack ad". It simply stated the fact of how the rat voted. How is simply stating a voting record an "attack ad"?

I wish Bush would unleash him more often. Maybe he figures the fear of the shark is as effective as the shark itself.
To: kattracks
Cheney was so witty too. I was laughing and laughing even harder because I didn't know he had it in him. He truely made an ass out of kerry.

hanoi john wants to increase the firefighters union rolls, by 100,000...which wouldn't even begin to take care of Kali or NY (state) much less the rest of the country. Firefighters are reactive, not pro-active. If he'd of purposed 100,000 new CIA or FBI agents that spoke Arabic or other off shoots of it he might have actually had a purposal worth something. But then again commie's like hanoi john FEAR the CIA and FBI.

The Kerry campaign fired off a press release noting that Cheney, who was defense secretary under Bush's father, defended the decision to leave Saddam in power in Baghdad in 1991 after kicking him out of Kuwait. What a completely lame response! I get the feeling that after months of W's multi-layered counterattack, JForbesK will be raising the white flag like the Republican Guard in Gulf War I.
To: mitch5501
gee thanks Forget what Kerry said. I for one appreciate every single one of our allies troops...Australia included. We really found out who our friends were last year!
To: kattracks
Kerry should sue the Bush campaign for definition of character.
To: kattracks
Cheney is no longer in his secret location. LOL. Didn't we just listen to a round of press speculation that Cheney would be replaced on the Bush ticket? In their dreams!
I wish I had a picture from the Saturday Night Live skit where Cheny was in a cave in Afghanistan. I loved that skit!

Very clever! Wish some newspaper were as clever as you and had headlined Cheney's speech with: Kerry to Sue Cheney for Definition of Character.
To: kittymyrib
Thanks; I think, however, that the credit has to go elsewhere. I believe it was Shemp Howard who first used the term. But it works pretty well in the present situation!
To: kattracks
that could give the Kerry camp pause as it contemplates Kerry's choice of a vice presidential running mate who'll have to debate Cheney Bring it on!
LOL, who in their right mind would want to debate Cheney?

Cheney launched his anti-Kerry salvos in a methodical, matter-of-fact way that could give the Kerry camp pause as it contemplates Kerry's choice of a vice presidential running mate who'll have to debate Cheney in prime time.
"Oh, uh, yaknow, Tim, uh, we uh yaknow were uh President uh for yaknow uh 8 years uh and uh yaknow we uh would still yaknow uh be President uh if uh Al yaknow uh had uh fought uh more..." --(guess who)
Hillary will need to take high school speech if she ever wants to run for National office (POTUS or VPOTUS).

Any ad the Republicans/GWB put out will be called attack ads. That is the nature of this race and the major media are complicit in raising up Kerry, ignoring his ranting deceptions, his records (VN medals and Senate voting). Kerry is the major media's darling, so he can do no wrong.

I watched Vice President Cheneys 30 minute address on C-SPAN 2 last night at 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm Central Time. The speech was introduced by the C-SPAN announcer who said, Vice President Cheney was at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California today where he talked about Iraq, intelligence efforts in the war on terrorism, and foreign policy. He also discusses John Kerrys voting record in the U. S. Senate.
This is about an hour and a half. (Emphasis added.)
That hour and a half lie probably discouraged some of the potential viewers who really needed to hear that brilliant speech.

Cheney eviscerated Liberman in the last debates. Who can compete with him, today? :)

100,000 more first responders? Is that the same as the 100,000 more cops under Klintoon? Well, we saw how well that worked out! Where's he (Kerry) gonna get the money for that one? Raising taxes of-course! Do the lib/dems realize that?

And the media universally denounced The Passion. And the people ignored the media and went and watched the movie.
Just about everyone knows the media is on the left. It's lost its clout.

And now Kerry is going to crawl off to some remote hideaway mansion in Idaho to lick his wounds and begin to realize just what he is up against - CHARACTER & MORALITY

I missed the TV version, and am looking for a web version at C-SPAN.org. I can't find it even when I do a search on "Cheney." Can someone send me a link? Thanks.
Also, is their web schedule different from what they actually show? Last night, the Web said that cspan at that moment had Bush-Cheney campaign programming. But what they really had on was a live session of the House (?)

The reason Cheney's heart problem isn't a disqualifier for him is that his heart rate and blood pressure never seem to go up by even a single point when he's dealing with stuff like this. I've always liked Cheney a lot. He's unflappable.

Sorry, C-SPAN does not seem to be offering a web video on this speech. The best I can do is give you the link to the text.
This is the link.

Yes, it's the same, dems seem to like that 100,000 number. 100,000 new teachers, 100,000 new cops, 100,000 new fire fighters. ALL you will notice are NEW union workers. BTW there are 90,000 school districts. 100,000 new teachers was a farce, as is the 100,000 new fire fighters. Heck, Kali alone could swallow up that many and not notice any difference.
100,000 more fire or police would not have stopped 9/11, nor prevent another terrorist attack.
First Responders are a very noble proffession they've saved many, many lives, but in all reality they are MOP up crews for the aftermath of disasters.

How is simply stating a voting record an "attack ad"?attack ad (n) - any political advertisement by a Republican or conservative that does anything other than begging forgiveness for being a Republican or conservative
issue ad (n) - any political advertisement by a Democrat or liberal that blatantly mischaracterizes a position held by a Republican or conservative

Found this exchange of Cheney from May 2000 Meet the Press. Kind of odd to read now.
CHENEY: No Regrets On Keeping Saddam In Power In 1991US Would Have Had To Do It Alone
MR. RUSSERT: Do you regret not taking Saddam out nine years ago?
MR. CHENEY: I don't, Tim. It was--and it's been talked about since then. But the fact of the matter is, the only way you could have done that would be to go to Baghdad and occupy Iraq. If we'd done that, the U.S. would have been all alone. We would not have had the support of the coalition, especially of the Arab nations that fought alongside us in Kuwait. None of them ever set foot inside Iraq. Conversations I had with leaders in the region afterwards--they all supported the decision that was made not to go to Baghdad. They were concerned that we not get into a position where we shifted instead of being the leader of an international coalition to roll back Iraqi aggression to one in which we were an imperialist power, willy-nilly moving into capitals in that part of the world taking down governments. [Meet the Press, 8/27/00]
