Most disturbingly, the increase in carry guns is further evidence that efforts to slow America's rush to become an armed society have largely failed. ... Common sense suggests that the more guns on the street, the more wrongful injuries and death." --Tracy Warner (Ft. Wayne, Indiana Journal Gazette; "Up in arms: Ohio joins states allowing concealed handguns"; Sunday, March 14, 2004.)
The very next day, in an article called "Licensed to carry", Indiana's competing Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel exposed Warner as someone who has a concealed weapons permit -- proving once against that many anti-gunners in positions of power are actually just hypocritical elitists of the "good for thee but not for me" variety:
"* Tracy Warner, editor of The Journal-Gazette's editorial page, which has traditionally supported calls for tighter controls on guns and opposed making it easier to carry the weapons."
[Click here to see it for yourself.]
Then here's the real kicker: Warner came out and tried to explain his hypocrisy: "Why I have a gun permit". In this hilarious rant, the little phony "reporter" says, among other things:
"Having the permit, I knew, would give me the option of carrying a gun should I decide it was necessary."
That's what the rest of us have been saying for years.
Helloooo?

this is typical liberal elitism. They they know what's best for the common rabble, meanwhile they have different, secret standards for themselves.
Like Hillary moving from Arkansas to a walled-in billion dollar compound in Westchester pretending to know what's good for the working class people of NY. Give me a break.

Tracy Warner says, "I agree with gun control. Having a gun permit, by definition, is gun control."

What a hypocrite! Another "anti gun for thee, but not for me" liberal. I suppose you feel you are so much better than the unwashed masses who don't need guns for protection, in your opinion.
So typical.

You and I know you're right. I try to avoid felonies as best I can.
I carry. It's legal here. I'm mostly here.
Well, I know it isn't enough. especially when your state doesn't recognize my permit. ...and just a few miles beyond you, in the people's republic of kali, it's a felony for me to carry as I do here. "infringed" doesn't translate down there.
AK and VT have it right.

For the benefit of our younger members:
"Syndicated columnist Carl Rowan, who last week (1994?)wounded an intruder who had taken a dip in his swimming pool, said he was forced to shoot the young man in self-defense before the police arrived. The U.S. Attorney's Office said yesterday that Mr. Rowan will not be charged with assault. Instead, prosecutors reinstated charges of unlawful entry against two of the intruders. The U.S. Attorney's office said it would let the District of Columbia authorities decide whether Mr. Rowan should be charged with possession of an unregistered firearm.
Many people charged Mr. Rowan with hypocrisy because he has been a longtime advocate of strict gun control. In a 1981column he advocated "a law that says anyone found in possession of a handgun except a legitimate officer of the law goes to jail -- period." In 1985 he called for "a complete and universal federal ban on the sale, manufacture, importation and possession of a handgun (except for authorized police and military personnel)."
But Mr. Rowan's middle-of-the-night experience appears to have taught him what many Americans already know: You can't always count on the police to be there to protect you. Many ordinary citizens have had the experience of calling "the authorities" for help -- and having that help arrive too late or not at all.
(Mr. Rowan never served any time and died about a year later of natural causes.-NRT)

As it turns out, the drive to and from the target range was the only time I've used the gun permit Idiot. Buy a gun, shoot it once, and consider yourself prepared? Idiot.
To: freepatriot32
Just sent the following:
Sir, I am disturbed less by your hypocrisy than I am by this line-
"As it turns out, the drive to and from the target range was the only time I've used the gun permit."
Am I to understand you have only shot the gun one time? And you feel competent to carry it to defend yourself?
Sir, you are an accident waiting to happen. If you think there is any chance you will ever feel the need to carry that weapon, you should, at a minimum, put between 500 and one thousand rounds through that gun.
Get *professional* training- not just "a friend." If that friend did not insist on taking you out at least a dozen times before turning you loose...he does *not* have "..deep knowledge of firearms and gun safety."
You are perfectly free to say one thing, and do another- most of us do at some point or another. However, it is NOT okay for you to endanger others with your cavalier attitude toward training and practice.
As a gun owner, permit holder, and instructor for the Texas CHL program, I believe you are a danger to yourself and to others with the limited amount training you have undergone. Please, please get some professional training, and a lot more practice.

This reminds me of something I saw on the news tonight. An idiot went to a rich neighborhood north of kansas city missouri in platte county. It had been robbed numerous times recently. Apparently, the residents had not been activating their alarm systems. They didn't think there was a need to prior to the recent break-ins.
A security camera showed the idiot on the front porch of a residence. He knocked on the door...no one answered and he kicked the door in. Low and behold the resident was home..she or he chose to not answer the door. I guess the bad guy just took off. Well, one of the neighbors was interviewed..mind you..I "think" the lots of the houses are over an acre, I'm not sure. There is a pond..and it showed him fishing with his 4 wheeler, and a SHOTGUN leaning up against it. I just laughed! LOL Maybe that will scare the burglars off. Of course, doing that in the big city on camera would have probably got him arrested.

That is the m.o. of the people who want to take your guns.
It is only yours they want to take. Not theirs.
The police and politicians are the are the two biggest advocates of gun confiscation. The police not only want to take your guns but they are arming themselves heavier each day.
Today most police departments are better armed than a infantry unit.
