Timing of Kerry Vacation May Hurt Campaign
FOX ^ | 3/19/04

As John Kerry (search) was snowboarding down Idaho's Bald Mountain, the Bush-Cheney campaign was racing headlong in challenging the Democrat's credentials, a contrast that raised questions about the timing of the presumptive presidential nominee's vacation.

President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney (search) and senior administration officials have been challenging Kerry's claims of support from foreign leaders while the campaign has criticized the four-term Massachusetts senator's votes on defense and foreign policy. The campaign also has unleashed ads casting Kerry as a waffler and weak on military issues.

Also, why is Kerry skiing in IDAHO? He should be skiing in Nevada/California/New Mexico, where he might sway some key votes. Idaho is Bush country.

"This guy has been wide-open, nonstop for months," said veteran Democratic consultant Dane Strother, who noted that an exhausted candidate is a dangerous candidate. "You leave yourself open to the possibility of making a major gaffe. You've got to recharge at some point."

My favorite quote of the whole article.

Psst....too late!

Kerry has already said "I voted for the $89 billion before I voted against it."

Ok. This language is still troublesome, like these people have to "define" Kerry---as if his actions don't define him!

I was a SAHM with my kids. My oldest was with me 24/7. She was not in daycare and did not go to pre-school. She also had no kids in the neighborhood her age to play with. She was very loving and cuddly at home. Her first experience with all the interaction was in kindergarten. It took her some time to learn to socialize in the "accepted and normal" way that was expected from public schools. Given time and support she gradually learned how to fit in with all the "already socialized" kids. Just be patient. At this age, all kids mature and react differently to new situations. The daughter I mentioned is now 20 and has no problem socializing in any setting. I also recently found out that she will make me a first time grandma come October. My most important advice to you is....you know your child better than anyone. Follow your own instincts and trust yourselves as parents. Nowadays, everyone thinks that everyone that may be a little "different"...needs a label.

If he is supposed to be on vacation, taking a break and recharging... why is he still so angry and cursing? I believe Kerry has already defined himself and there's no going back now. Vacation or no vacation.

He is skiing in Idaho because the gracious and lovely Terayza Heinz owns a $5 million dollar vacation home in Sun Valley, that's why. Also revealed this morning is the fact that the Heinz-Kerry's gotb the taxpayers of Idaho to change the flow of a river so that they could water the plants in their $250,000 landscaping.

So in the mean time, the Kerry campaign is going to work on highlighting his differences with Bush? Go right ahead. Please. We would love for your campaign to spend money showing that Bush will fight the terrorists and lower taxes while Kerry will surrender to terrorists and raise taxes.

Defining Kerry is easy... He is on vacation when he should be fulfilling his duties as a US Senator... The Senate is in session.

When he got the nomination Bob Dole resigned rather than be irresponsible toward the people of Kansas.

Once again, John Kerry is giving an insight into his true self-serving character.

I heard that a couple of times this morning - on Lee and Melanies show on KSFO, and on the Rush Limbaugh update that they play near the top of the hours (6:58 am or thereabouts). Cool, eh? I'm an Idaho native (transplanted to the SF Bay Area), so I'm sure that the good folks of Idaho really don't appreciate having their tax dollars going for such a thing.

Most people don't know about Kerry's actions, other than what they see on TV - part of defining Kerry is revealing his actions to the public through ads, speeches, etc. The vast majority of the public is not very politically active, and don't pay attention to these things on their own.

Yes and about the same time he was helpoing to worsen Idaho's drought for his own cosmetic lawn needs, he was voting to tell Oregon land owners they had no rights to their water. But then again that's the definition of a limosine liberal--make laws that breaks the bacdk of others while shirking htem youself. Oh and of course rhe laws should give liberal politicians more power and play money at the same time.

Idaho is where Ketchup F'n Kerry has one of his five houses - in this instance a 500 year old Italian farm that was bought and reassembled for several million dollars.

Yet he remains a man of the little people (NOT!!!)_

" If he is supposed to be on vacation, taking a break and recharging... why is he still so angry and cursing? "

Precisely. What a low rent whackjob.
Can you imagine President Bush knocking over a Secret Service agent and then not helping him up and apologizing and checking to see if he was ok ?
Kerry is just like Clinton-flying into red faced rages at the little people .
Cursing his Secret Service agent because he fell over, is unforgiveable and symptomatic of Kerry's instability.
And if Kerry is having trouble controlling himself in March...it boggles the mind to picture what he will be like in November and God help the Country, if he ever gets into higher office.

Hello to a 'native Idahoan'...transplanted to SF??? I, for one, don't appreciate our tax dollars having to care for the likes of this PUKE. I understand also that extra expenses picked up by Idaho taxpayers are needed for his fling in Sun Valley. When I saw him on the local news last night I just thought "how dare you come to Idaho, you're not welcome here", although I'm sure he has caught up with his Hollywood constituency while visiting here.

Of course, if his vacation timing is 'hurting' his campaign, then I'm all for it. Glad to see our President pulling away from him in the polls recently. Sure helps me sleep better at night.

Kerry has so flubbed up his campaign that his handlers had to get him away from all public spotlights for a while.

The problem is that Kerry is falling so fast that his Democratic delegates may abandon him at the Boston convention this summer...just as Democrats abandoned Dean when it became clear that Bush would make quick work of him.

Thus, we've got to back off for a little while our attacks on Kerry. For one thing we want more Democratic Party fatcat donors to get suckered into donating large sums to him. We want them to get badly burned this year to make them more reluctant to give to their cause in future campaign cycles. For another thing, we don't want the Dems to switch horses again. Their convention hasn't cemented their nomination yet.
