President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush leave the East Room after speaking about Iraq at the White House in Washington, March 19, 2004. President Bush told officials from 83 nations that differences over the Iraq war are in the past, that deeper resolve is needed in the broader war on terrorism and that they must resist making concessions to al Qaeda. Later in the day President Bush and the First Lady visited the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. ................ Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

QUOTE OF THE DAY: There are still violent thugs and murderers in Iraq, and we're dealing with them. But no one can argue that the Iraqi people would be better off with the thugs and murderers back in the palaces. Who would prefer that Saddam's torture chambers still be open? Who would wish that more mass graves were still being filled? Who would begrudge the Iraqi people their long-awaited liberation? On year after the armies of liberation arrived, every soldier who has fought, every aid worker who has served, every Iraqi who has joined in their country's defense can look with pride on a brave and historic achievement. They've served freedom's cause, and that is a privilege.

Thank God for this President.
He may not be the greatest orator as the media suggests, but his speeches seem to say the right thing at the right time.
Anybody know if the speech will be re-aired?

Such raw emotion in these pictures. This man takes his job absolutely serious. These are pictures of a man who respects and values the military.
God help our country if he isn't re-elected.

Such a heavy burden on the shoulders of our President....Was there any Walter Reed pixs....he visited the wounded there today? You know how the liberals, or left-wingers like I prefer to call them always complain that the president never went to any funerals of the troops who lost their lives (as if Billy Jeff went). Does anyone recall Billy Jeff visiting any soldiers at Walter Reed while he was president? I certainly don't

Does anyone recall Billy Jeff visiting any soldiers at Walter Reed while he was president? Lord knows I loath clinton but in all fairness, did we have any wounded at Walter Reed during his reign of terror?
I think the more important fact is there is no record that the New York Senator ever visited Walter Reed Hospital.

Prayers for the Living; Justice for the Dead.
On a serious note, who would want that much security and hassle when you have a loved ones' funeral, and having the President come to it?
I'm sure he does something, but imposing himself (and the media would spin it 60 ways to Saturday!) - that isn't him.

I don't think there's a FReeper-specific cookbook, but Carlo3b has at least one cookbook available. I have two cookbooks in print and another one that will be out in June.

Update on Mike...Good news...biopsy showed it is basal cell.
Bad news is they didn't get it all Tues and they are sending him to Walter Reed for more extensive surgery...he'll probably be there Tues or Wed next week...He called me about 7:30 this a.m. very upset that he could not return to Iraq...and was sorry he ever went to the flight surgeon to begin with....we have talked several times today and he has calmed down and has accepted it..he has no choice in the matter, it has to be taken care of.
He will go to Walter Reed, after that return to Campbell...he's hoping he can remain at Campbell and organize and plan his troops withdrawal and demobilization from there.......he was a very unhappy trooper today, but I think he feels a little better now.

It would be impossible for the president to attend every funeral and the left-wingers know that.I think he made the right decision, to call each family, visit Walter Reed and visit privately with families when he goes to bases, rather than spot select funerals.
However, I do wish that he or someone in the Administration would comment on his not attending the funerals (to shut the liberals up). All they need to say is that some people keep complaining that he hasn't attended any funerals and ask them just which soldiers they would select. Talk about hard or hurt feelings--explain to all the families how one should be selected over another.
