"That said, our addiction to cheap labor is certainly going to have major cultural and political effects."
that is the root cause of the problem. this country has always been addicted to cheap labor and doesnt seem ot worry about the consequences

Ask not whether your neighbors can learn your language, but whether you can learn theirs. |Todos su mojados! Manos en arriba, o yo tiro!
Sorry, I really don't know the HTML-coding for the upside-down exclamation mark preceeding un declaración en Espanol.
The one for a preceeding question mark [¿] is Alt+02239.

The U.S. and Mexico need to work out an arrangement where the movement of people and capital and normalize. Actually the Mexicans need to fix Mexico so that some of it's citizens besides the oligarchs wouldn't mind staying in their own country.

I think there is an opportunity for the U.S. to grow toward the south, and to form a larger economic and maybe political entity.Maybe the Mexicans should learn English (the language of international commerce) and the US Constitution --- that is the only way for prosperity to push south if for them to change their culture, Americans taking on the culture of that country is only going to make us impoverished as they are.

If every individual is to be required to learn the language of all ethnic groups that have come here --- German, French, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Greek, etc --- that's not going to give us time to learn anything else. I still have some neighbors who aren't from Mexico --- one is Lebanese --- do I have to learn that language too? Just become immigrants now are too lazy to learn English?

Thanks for this information. I'll check on the markings. Mostly to date I've put Winchester ammunition through it, I think. They actually make factory 7.62x54R, which is kinda cool. It's the "metric series" ammo. You sure know a lot, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Accordingly, I have just as much right as Spanish-speaking citizens of Mexico do to demand that Finnish be the official U.S. language as well, or instead. Of course, many of them vote in US elections as directed by the Mexico City government, so that may not remain the case much longer. For now, such demands can be ignored. But someday, the sons of Finland will arise and demand our natural homeland in this country be restored to our independent control! Long live Suomi-Amerika; Kollaa Kestää! Haaka Paale!.
As you are probably aware, when the Finns experienced their little "illegal immigration" problem, some of the immigrants/invaders clung insistently to this notion: Once territory had been taken by the Red Army, it was Russian territory *forever* - and was to be defended as such. To the last man, if need be.
Sounds a bit like the noise coming from the "La Raza" bunch with their plans for a reconquest of the North American southwest, does it not?

Owner of two M-39s and I'll vouch for Finnish craftsmanship.

It's the "metric series" ammo. You sure know a lot, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Save those brass W-W cases; those, the Norma and the Finnish Lapua are a LOT more fun to work with than some other alternatives. If nothing else, some nice light loads using 123-grain 7,62x39mm AK47 bullets can be a lot of fun in a Finn Nagant, and the 90-grain Sierra and Hornady jacketed .312 hollowpoint bullets meant for the .32 H&R *magnum* revolver can make very effective residential defense loads.
As for what I've picked up along the way, I've learned a few thinmgs the hard way, and would save others the pain, expense or bother if they care to profit from my goofs. Much of the rest has come from those who went before me and showed me some of what they'd picked up along the way, patiently and without charge, only expecting me to add it to that knowledge I was compiling, not quite identical to theirs. And that I realize that someday, I'd be a reasonably knowledgable individual on a few topics or subtopics, and would be in a position to pass on a few tidbits to others who could use it.
I do like those old Finn rifles. The story of their development oughta be a movie.

I agree. The future balance of Mex/white America is inevitable. We need to put Mex Immigrants (legal and illegal) feet to the fire, insisting on assimilation and immersion.
Speak English, get a SS#, pay into the system, behave yourself, contribute. Remind them of their Catholic roots and family-centered culture, steer them to their logical choice of party: Republican.
It's the smart way to handle the inevitable.

Thanks for one of the stupidest, anti American posts ever at Free Republic. Some people see an opportunity in creating a larger, tighter set of economic relationships between the U.S. and countries to the south. Those who do will become bilingual first, a decade or so before the desirability of doing this is obvious the majority of Americans.
