I know not what course others may take but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.

Respectfully submitted but I will speak my thoughts (not condemnation):

You, among others, may have started the site. And you are right that it is privately owned, however many people invest in the site. I wonder how 'private' it is if you rely on all the support that your site's consumers provide.

If their help is needed to keep the site up, isn't it then everyone's site? I wonder if it isn't a little disrespectful to contibutors if their support is accepted without achknowledgement regarding ownership.

Just my 2 cents.

With all due respect to your post regarding ownership rights and how private the site is.....in my humble opinion, yes others do contribute to it, but I think as a founder, the statement was dead on. If people do not believe the same way, hold the same values and do not agree with everything said in the founders message, then they ought not donate merely for the wanting of some sort of a "title".

Everyone is aware how this works, and based ON the values stated above, don't you think it would be a bit petty to demand some sort of bond or something stating what percentage of the site you "own" due to your donation? Personally, donating just because it's SO dang worth it is satisfaction enough for me. It has nothing to do w/ recognition or "ownership" rights to the site.

Thanks for the straightforward clarity of your statement.
Of course, there will always be people who don't get it, and new posters who need an explanation. For those cases, I recommend to all that this thread be bookmarked for easy reference and linking.

Regards,
LH

I don't think I own ANYTHING here. My monthly donation is a very small part of what it takes to keep this site up--I'm glad to visit here, and happy to do my part, and I like it the way Jim Robinson runs it, or I wouldn't do either one.

We aren't stockholders. We're FReepers. Coming to a conservative site to hear conservative views from fellow conservative people is what we do, because we like to do it.

And we like JR. If I could, I'd give a whole lot more. It's a gift. A present. To say thank you for the site.

Is it true? Have I finally found a site where I don't have to listen to the bull caca of the left along with the truth? Am I in heaven??? ;-)

Relative to its volume this is probably the best moderated site I have yet found. Provocateurs and enemy propagandists are normally ID'd and zotted in just a few minutes. This keeps them from hijacking discussions, holds flame wars to a minimum, and allows this site to continue to serve its stated purpose.

Once in a while, an especially stupid troll is simply left in the pillory rather than zotted, apparently so we can have a little comic relief at the troll's expense.

Free speech? See Amendment XYZ.

Did you ever consider that WWI had a liberal president (Wilson), WWII had a liberal president (Roosevelt), and Viet Nam had liberal presidents (Kennedy, LBJ)? Maybe the support of war is a liberal position.

Bob Dole made this argument back in 1976, when he was Ford's running mate. He accused the Democrats of having Utopian visions that lead them into war. He cited WWI and Vietnam as prime instances of the Democratic penchant to go abroad, seeking monsters to destroy.

Pat Buchanan makes that argument today, arguing that guys like Sec'y of Defense Paul Wolfowitz are actually crazed Democratic zealots, wishing to remake the world in the image of liberal America.

Let me be perfectly clear. These are notions that all of us must reject.

Democrats get us into wars. Republicans win them.

Beautifully stated.Beautful people.I'm seeing it all go on in a differnt angle or perpective than I would prefer.Situations which have been built here are but a second of history yet acted upon more than normally will build a future we can be proud of.Salutes, good knight.

Jim,
Synergy is what we all are striving to achieve. A "common commitment" to the ideals you expressed. Good on ya mate! I could not have said it better.

I'm not sure why I bother to answer but I do agree with you 1000 percent. Their whining from the right is not worth my time to notice except that I realize if we do not continue to be vigilant our silence then becom es our tacit agreement and this we can never allow to happen.
