CIA Anti-Terror Director Meets With Olympic Organizers

ATHENS, Greece (AP) - The CIA's counterterrorism chief met Tuesday with Olympic organizers, part of U.S. efforts to increase security cooperation in the final months before the games.

Plans to safeguard the Aug. 13-29 games have taken an urgent tone after the bombings in Spain earlier this month and fears of Mideast violence following Israel's killing of Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the militant group Hamas.

The director of the CIA's Counterterrorist Center, Jose Rodriguez, made no comment after talks at the Olympic organizing committee's headquarters. The meeting coincided with the end of a two-week Olympic security exercise involving 400 U.S. commandos.

U.S. Ambassador Thomas Miller, who accompanied Rodriguez, said the Olympics was generating a great deal of U.S. interest.

"You're going to see a lot of senior American officials come over here ... Get used to it," said Miller.

On Tuesday, Greek police promised to provide 150 officers to protect Israeli Embassy staff from potential terror attacks. They also promised to guard Jewish sites in Greece.

Athens has been under intense international pressure to expand the Olympic security network, which already carries a record price tag of more than $800 million.

Greece has asked NATO allies to help patrol Greek airspace and share intelligence on possible terror threats, including "protection against a chemical, biological and nuclear incident."

On Monday, hundreds of Greek and Palestinian demonstrators took part in anti-Israel demonstrations in Athens and the northern city of Thessaloniki to protest Yassin's killing.

"I just think that it's really important to stop using words - emotional words - like afraid, scared or this or that," Miller said.

The ambassador described the talks as part of regular contact between Washington and Olympic planners. In November, FBI Director Robert Mueller visited Athens.

NATO members France, Germany, Britain, Spain and the United States are part of a seven-nation security advisory group working with Olympic planners. Other members of the task force include Israel and Australia.

Madrid AQ cell financed Hamburg cell (9/11), and Bosnia cell proveided terrorists for both..

Instead wasting time with Greeks, Senor Rodriguez should meet James Purdew, U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria and ask him whether his Bosnian AL-Qaeda buddies are taking August vacation or preparing for Olympics Deathlon.

Abu Mughen, one of Purdew's buddies is responsible for MADRID terrorist attack.

The heart of EU AL QAEDA is in Bosnia and Perdew was seen with them too many times (Abu Hamza, Jihad Thomas etc.)

AL QAEDA - Another Clinton Legacy (R)
