The partisan press's charges are ludicrous when one considers how silent they were when the Clinton Administration tried to block the publication of Gary Aldrich's book on FBI abuses back in the late 90s.

pfffffft ! If the White House had been inclined to do such a thing, they would have delayed it until after November 3rd, not in the thick of the campaign. Bill Plante is no novice political reporter, he has been around a long time and I wish Scott McClellan had said as much to him during that press briefing.

Yeah, they delayed it so as to accord Clarke maximum visibility and sales to coincide with his 9/11 testimony.

So, the Whitehouse did know what Clarke was going to say to the 9/11 commission and let him testify under oath to the lies in the book before pointing out the contradiction to the earlier testimony to congress. Perjury. Rope a dope.
