The Left unloaded on him with everything it had. The attempt failed. So far, the failure is in the $300 million range, and it is not yet Easter weekend.

Wasn't there a Gary North who had a doom and gloom web sight devoted to the Y2K problems that would surely result in utter chaos throughout the world because of programming problems which the year 2000 would cause to manifest the innate problems of dependancy on computers?

You're a marvel.

Just started to read some of it. (More later.)

This should stir up some excitement around here.

Blessings to you my friend!

One little caveat:
Is this the same Gary North who warned of all sorts of catastrophes at Y2K?

>They mounted a full-scale battle against [?!?] Gibson, beginning almost as soon as he announced his plan to produce the movie

Did they? Or was it
just what Hollywood calls a
public relations

campaign
? They get folks
riled up, and some people spend
money on one side,

others spend money
on the other side. Call me
cynical -- jaded --

but to businessmen,
Christians are just another
demographic, and --

judging from the way
so many Christians have thrown
their money into

the business wallets
to see The Passion -- they are
a gullible one.

Why? Why did Hollywood walk away from what instantly became a blockbuster? For the same reason that the studios continue to lose hundreds of millions of dollars producing films that attack religion and morality: its intense hostility to Christianity and the value system it teaches.

I agree with every point this article makes and especially this one. Hollywood isn't trying to make money. The Hollywood liberal elite are willing to have their companies lose large sums in order to further their agenda. Ask the Disney stockholders.

It's not about money. It's about power.

Very good, what several dozen pages I've read.

I am most interested in looking at the area around page 100-140 or so. I would have liked the book to start with that historical stuff, but I'm no writer... I'm looking forward to studying those sections.

Gibson has touched a nerve. In full public view, he challenged the cultural powers that be. He beat them to a pulp in full public view. Whether he can do it again is now of major concern to Hollywood and the Establishment media.

If he (or anyone else) does it again, the Hollywood system will be history. Christians and conservatives can produce and market their own films. We should get rid of Hollywood and Big network television. There is no reason Hollywood or New York should control video media anymore. Their reign of terror and error is over. "The emperor wears no clothes."

They are clueless and valueless. Completely out of touch with reality...and American culture. It's time to get rid of the anti-Christian media.

Thanks for posting this. I just finished reading the book and was going to post this myself.

Book Report...
This is a well researched and footnoted history of how we got to this point where we have filth all over the tv and movie screens. I always wondered and I knew there was a history, but have not had it explained so thoroughly. It covers the history of Communism and Christianity from the days of Christ to Lenin and an Italian named Gramsci who updated the communist manifesto to fit modern times. He talks about the true Christians and Jews and the false (liberal) Christians and Jews (the ones who supposedly were responsible for allowing movies like the Last Tempation of Christ") I will not go into details but you must read it. It has wonderful quotes by Michael Medved, Mary Pickford (who I had no idea was such a lovely, intelligent soul) and related gospel verses to explain how we got here. It even has solutions that Christians can do using Mel Gibson as a role model. He states that if Mel can do it, we all can and should.

Thanks..I will read your book.

I was checking the rag mags at the hairdresser (because I won't give them my money) and I just about broke into laughter when Entertainment Magazine had one article on the passion and it was a critique by, of all people, Stephen King. The focus of the article was about how terrifying the Passion was to a 12 year old who attended the movie.

The irony here is a bit too much from a guy who has made a living out of terrifying kids........

I decided to dive in and knock off the book despite having some reservations upon learning here on the thread that North was Y2K hysteric. I'm glad I did. The book is felicitously written (although a copy editor is needed), well researched, and obviously the product of a serious and intelligent mind. I learned quite a bit and found North's argument largely, if not wholly, persuasive.
