The reality of a "global economy" is to equalize the standard of living to a global standard of living. Americans standard of living will lower and other parts of the world will rise. Our politicians have agreed to this in principle by their actions.

It seems to me that the linchpin problem with illegal immigrants is that their true cost to our communities is not being borne by those who choose to hire them. Employers are being allowed to pay these people a low wage rate, illegally tax-free, which pushes health care, public service, and educational costs of these illegal immigrants onto the general taxpayer. Why is it so difficult and politically unwise to simply enforce the laws already in place that prohibit these practices? If the government did so, the price advantage that illegal immigrants have now would disappear, giving our own people opportunities.
If any other group willfully ignored the tax laws in this manner the IRS would go after them in a New York minute.

Mexico will not sign on to the FTAA if they do not get an amnesty program.
The FTAA is more important to the current administration than the American people, secure borders and sovereignty.
To: BipolarBob
If you look up the FTAA and read the charter of its administering organization, the Summit of the Americas and the OAS, you will see that the treaty is based on the premise that wealth must be redistributed from the US to the poorer countries of the hemisphere so that they can compete economically.
The treaty doesn't force the countries to become self sufficient economies on their own, but requires massive amounts of money to be given away to them through programs like "infrastructure development" and "structural convergence".
Many South American countries have demanded the money giveaways so they will sign the FTAA. Our current government is willing to give everything sacred to America away in order to create the western hemispheric economic zone through the FTAA.

Read the charter of the Organization of American States, the parlimentary body for the FTAA. It says"
"Social justice and social security are bases of lasting peace;"
This supranational goverment says that socialism is the basis of peace. Even though we know better, our American governmental officials have signed up to this in a big, big way.

I've got a huge problem with America being brought down to the levels of poverty other countries have endured, especially since many of them have never had representative democracies. NAFTA and all that other trash needs to be kicked onto the virtual mountains of trash outside Mexico City, where many of their poor fight over rats for the protein.
