St. Louis - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry is quoting the Bible to question President Bush's claim to be a compassionate conservative.
Kerry campaigned from the pulpit today at New North Side Baptist Church in St. Louis.
He told worshipers, ``The Scriptures say, 'What does it profit, my brother, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?''' The Massachusetts senator added, ``When we look at what is happening in America today, where are the works of compassion?''
Kerry noted that three (m) million jobs have been lost since President Bush [related, bio] took office.
Kerry is Roman Catholic, but has chosen to ignore the pope's directive that Catholic politicians do all they can to stop abortion. In an interview with Time magazine, Kerry said, ``I don't tell church officials what to do, and church officials shouldn't tell American politicians what to do in the context of our public life.''

I'm sick of the double standards. I also question a religion that allows someone to campaign from the pulpit.
Looks like Mammon wins over God in this one.

BTW,
here's one for Kerry:
Kerry is Roman Catholic, but has chosen to ignore the pope's directive that Catholic politicians do all they can to stop abortion. In an interview with Time magazine, Kerry said, ``I don't tell church officials what to do, and church officials shouldn't tell American politicians what to do in the context of our public life.''

And what does it profit a man's soul to claim belief in the Catholic theology and yet condemn millions of children to death by abortion?
And why is it that only Republican politicians are not allowed to speak in churches?

To: Pokey78
where are the works of compassion? Anyone ask Kerry where his own works of compassion are? As I understand it, he typically donates $00.00 to charity. One year he slipped and actually gave $135.00 to ??? Questioned on it, he explained he had two kids in college; as Howie Carr pointed out, however, that same year he found $6,400 to buy a motorcycle.
On a related note, Howie Carr also ran a couple of segments (I didn't catch the whole thing) asking for people who've met up with Kerry in his "Do you know who I am?" mode; he found plenty of people willing to share.

We have a scripture lawyer here.
Appears he is quoting James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
So JFKerry perverts the scripture, cause the kind of "work" and "profit" that is spoken of is explainded in verse 18...
Yea, a man may say, "Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works."

KOMMIE-KERRY
HAS ABOUT as much
heart-felt-&-applied
familiarity with The Bible
As Billdo and Shrillery have with
chastity, morality, humility and patriotism.
. . . which I'd guage at roughly in the -1300% realm--or worse.

The fact is that kerry and a whole bunch of other people who call themselves Roman Catholic are not. One either subscribes to the whole enchilada or one does not. That means you are either a Roman Catholic or you are not.(of course the more softened version is that one is a "lapsed catholic)

This story is just too funny to comment..
The dims gotta understand this case here -
when Bush quote the scriptures, he is believable, and he makes his enemies squirm...
when the dims quote the scriptures, they come out phony, opportunistic and really turning off the religious base...
Kerry should learn the lesson of Gore or the film critics of the movie "Passion" -
the lesson is - if you have nothing good to say, don't say it! and most importantly, don't be a phony in saying stuff you yourself don't believe.

Hello, have you not read, what the penalty for KILLING is, very biblical to send KILLERS back to the MAKER to face the one they KILLED while on earth.

``When we look at what is happening in America today, where are the works of compassion?'' What an arrogant POS. He doesn't mingle with the little people much, does he. Kerry defines compassion a theft scheme owned and operated by Caesar.
To: Pokey78
Kerry out to at least do a little bible study before he begins preaching, for example it is written;
Matthew 7:3
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
Kerry's phoney stance on the economy in words can't be backed up in deeds, as his fortunes are the result of thousands of his families out sourced Hienz jobs moved overseas where pay is at slave wages!

Yes, quotes it so well most do not know that his quoting is twisting of scripture. Very similar to the method of twisting of scripture by JFKerry.
Course JFKerry is concerned with the "PROFIT" it affects his tax collection and income distribution "god" status.

You are so right! I have seen this quote recently: "Being in a church does not make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car".
To: FRgal4u
Not only does he not believe it he doesn't even come close to understanding it. The whole passage is directed at believers, at the Body of Christ, not some arm of the federal government. But this is not suprising, for the dims civil government is their god and salvation flows from the halls of power.
Listening to this guy quote Holy Scripture is gut wrenching. Like placing a ring of gold in hog's snout.

This guy is a piece of puke. Everything that comes out of his mouth is garbage.
I was at a party last night, my mothers 80th B-day, there were people there that are voting for him because of the Florida vote.
Influential people who are deep pocket democrats. They all made me sick but the party was great. Happy B-day mom (a self made American citizen)
If you want to find real Americans that vote all the time and use the process go after the naturalized citizens because they take the process seriously.
The unfortunate thing is the American born citizens that do not vote.

Maybe he should study the bible and start filtering to us the scriptures stance on abortion, gays and, maybe even some games like lets take a Proverb a day and live by it.
What a disgrace for the Dem's,
Further more I think his bible quote verbage is a little off. Of course he may be reading the Readers Digest Version.
