As far as I can see it is only the hate filled liberals that are unhappy.

Although domestically I wish Bush would treat democrats like the low lifes intent on harming this country, the same way he treats foreign terrorists. I am incredibly thrilled with the man, his administration and the direction of this country.

The war in Iraq is going well, 50m people have been liberated, the economy is rebounding, my stock portfolio is way up. I am a happy, meat eating, carb avoiding kind of gal.

You could try cottage cheese for breakfast (make sure it's not low-fat), maybe over some sliced tomatoes or with some berries. You't not supposed to be eating a lot of fruit during induction, but if adding some of the low-carb berries keeps you from chucking the diet altogether, go for it.

You don't have to eat breakfast food for breakfast, you know. Deli meats and cheese make a nice breakfast with no messy cleanup.

A study released last week showed that carbohydrate deprived dieters had low levels of serotonin, leading them to be grumpier. And grumpy people tend to vote incumbents out of office.

This is such a load of crap.

Not that I believe Atkinsers are at all grumpy after the induction phase, but even assuming it were true, what if they're grumpier at the liberals?

There are also some pretty good low-carb yoghurts out there (Blue Bunny comes to mind) and several low carb, high protein/high fiber flax-based hot cereals. There are a lot more choices for breakfast than eggs!
I never bothered with the induction period - just started lowering my carb intake & increasing the exercise. I lost 50+ pounds in one year.

There are also some low carb breads that you can use for toast. I buy one that is 6 carbs per slice. You could have a piece of toast and a low-carb yoghurt.

My wife is on the Atkin's diet, me however, I'm on the beer and hot wings diet. My favorite beer is Miller Lite which has only about 3 carbs and hot wings have no carbs. So I can pig out on as many hot wings as I want. I do have to admit that after about four beers (12 carbs) I have a tendancy to check my eyelids for light leaks.

The Rats are not God-fearing Americans.

They are Satan worshiping Haitians, and a pathetic Voodoo curse is all they have left in their bag of tricks.

Here's an even better analysis:

Atkins is the TRIUMPH OF:

Truth over Political Correctness;
Determination over Temptation;
The Individual over the Medical Conspiracy;
Reality over Academia;
Personal Responsibility over Class Action Lawsuits.

LANDSLIDE! BUSH 2004!

Hubby lost about 15 pounds in the last three weeks...he's pretty darn happy too and has the back of his truck plastered with Bush/Cheney stickers!

I've haven't seen him this chipper since the mid-80s!

Be careful there! That's a lot to lose in a relatively short period of time.

True, but it's a relative thing... I started with a lot to lose, and the rate is slowing down (but still steady).

But I couldn't stand eggs, eggs and more eggs, and couldn't stomach steak for breakfast

Creativity comes into play here... try smoked salmon with cream or muenster cheese... or a slice of low-carb bread with peanut or almond butter... or one of the meal replacement bars...

Just my opinion and probably not on the Atkins diet, but I think whole grains in modest amounts are healthy diet foods. They make great hot cereals with a little butter and no sugar. Cooked rye, oats, quinoa, amaranth, millet, etc. There are many of them and I rotate them for variety. Not the normal American breakfast but they do have flavor.

They make pretty good low-carb bread now (5 or 6 net grams of carbs per slice). When I tire of eggs in the morning, I toast a slice and cover it with peanut butter, and toast another and melt some butter, cinammon, and equal on it. Might not work with the induction phase, but seems to work fine for maintenance.

He would have done better by reading tea leaves. Jackass. Every Atkins dieter I know will be voting for GWB.
