Justice Center evacuated over bomb threat Reported by Dave Summers POSTED: Tuesday, March 30, 2004 9:58:59 AM UPDATED: Tuesday, March 30, 2004 11:19:05 AM CLEVELAND -- A bomb threat at the Justice Center has hundreds of employees stranded in the rain and downtown traffic in the area at a standstill.

Video: Justice Center evacuated over bomb threat

About 2,000 workers and visitors are outside of the courthouse and traffic is being rerouted from Lakeside, Ontario and West 3rd street. Motorists should find an alternate route around the center.

Prison inmates are still in the jail and the sheriff's department has a skeleton staff guarding them.

There are reports that a suspicious object was found in the ventilation system in the center, although it is not known yet if it is connected to the bomb threat.

Authorities have also begun evacuating the old courthouse across the street from the center.

An evacuation of this scale hasn't happened since 911 and never before that.

We will update this story as more details emerge.

WT am radio just updated that 3 building have been evacuated

The local TV stations aren't doing any kind of live coverage.

Justice has ground to a halt, literally, in Cleveland. The Courts Tower of the Justice Center was evacuated about 9:00 this morning, and the old Cuyahoga County Courthouse across Lakeside Avenue was evacuated about 11:00 am. Adjoining sections of Lakeside Avenue, Ontario Avenue, and West 3rd Street were also closed. A bomb threat was apparently recieved, and bomb-sniffing dogs are checking the entire 23-story Courts Tower, as well as the nearby courthouse building. Stay tuned to WTAM 1100 for updates on this developing story.

Why would you remove it from Breaking News before we know what's happened?
