MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- Officials have banned pink clothing for the remainder of the school year out of concerns that the color has become associated with gang activity.

Administrators last week told students at the city's high school and two middle schools to avoid wearing pink clothing or accessories, said Michael Berta, associate superintendent in the Northwestern Indiana district.

Exactly my thoughts. A roaming band of thugs dressed in pink would not be overly intimidating, hilarious yet but not intimidating.

This is soooo bizarre! What a bunch fashion nerds these administrators are. Pink is everywhere this year. It's hard to avoid it. I look terrible in pink, yet I am tempted to try it because everywhere you look in the stores, you see pink.

The real gang colors to watch out for are red and white. Hey, red and white make pink! Pink eye for the school guy.

I don't blame the school officials for taking this action. After last year's violent clashes between the "Silver Taupe" and "Mauve Mist" gangs, it's best not to take any chances.

Do you have to be stupid to become a school administrator?

Or is it just part of the on the job training?

But there is no doubt that they have opportunities to prank the school authorities in wasy we could never dream of.......

I would encourage all young ladies to:
Wear pink:
* lipstick
* nail polish
* barrettes
Use pink:
* pens
* stationary
* binders
* book covers
* lunch bags
Also, make them define pink. It depends what "pink" is. Pink-almost white? Pink-almost red? How about coral? How much pink is objectionable? One stripe? One pink flower?

This could teach the kids a good lesson on stupidity.

GOSH! Better not let them wear jeans, either! Blue denim is frewuently worn by students! It must mean something!

Reminds me of the episode of Newhart where the guys decided to form rival street gangs. They had custom jackets made with the gang names on the back -- the "Ruffians" and the "Hooligans" -- but the embroiderer botched the spelling, so instead the jackets said "Puffians" and "Hooligals". It was funny stuff -- Bob Newhart, Peter Scholari and the rest pretending to be street toughs.

I haven't talked to him - I'm sure I'll talk to his mother this weekend though.

Knowing her, she's more concerned with making sure he's getting what he's SUPPOSED to be getting from school though.

If things get too stupid, she'd pull him out pretty quick though.

Duh...do it mayhap have a monkey-see, monkey-do connection to (Barf!) Trista's ALL PINK wedding that was televised to all the kiddies?

Gee, if a store has 30% of all of its stock in shades of pink, and the school bans pink, thus severely cutting into sales, does the store have cause to sue the lamebrained administrator 'who has seen no evidence of gang activity' from all the pinkies?
