A jogger caused a hazardous materials investigation Tuesday after he poured white powder on the ground at about 10 locations near Hermann Park, apparently to mark his trail, officials said.
The suspicious substance, found about 7 p.m. around Ewing near San Jacinto, temporarily shut down light rail traffic through the area.
Hazardous materials specialists analyzed about five samples of the power and concluded it wasn't toxic, said Houston Fire Department Inspector Javier Rodriguez.
The jogger, found carrying a small bag of the substance, was questioned and released without charges.

Not funny..
Every incident of this type will have to be checked out and treated as a serious substance..
The one time we don't and 250 joggers take home anthrax to their family and freinds, there will be hell to pay..
Now if I were wearing my tin foil hat, I would go so far as to say this was a test run by the terrorists..
But I'm not, so I won't suggest any such thing..

The joggers purportedly were playing a game of "hare & hound"
using baking soda to leave a trail. I've no idea the premise of the game.
Probably a jogger-specific kind of thing.

They play this game around here, too.
One person starts out 15 mins or so ahead of the others (hare) and lays a trail using (here) flour, complete with false leads and switchbacks. The hounds have to find the right trail.

Our politicians will never run out of things to regulate, given the ingenuity of the human mind to develop entertaining pastimes.
"Should this 'har and hound' game remain legal? It could be used as a device to injure the people and/or cause panic."
Sometime after the war on junk food, but before the war against glass marbles.

It's all polluting. Sic the EPA on them (complete with fines).
"Adults" should be more mature than this. What's more, you can wager that at least of few of these health nuts are enviroweenies.

Maybe this person is a victim or a family member of a victim getting revenge.
