Rice is much too valuable to take the fall
LA Daily News ^ | 4/3/2004 | Earl Ofari Hutchinson

Ever since former Bush counterterrorism adviser Richard Clarke testified that National Security Adviser Condeleezza Rice was largely to blame for the lack of preparedness before the 9-11 terror attacks, the tongues have wagged furiously about her future.

A White House damage-control effort has been busily under way, and Rice has dropped her opposition to publicly testifying under oath before the 9-11 Commission. Yet it will take much work to undue the collateral damage from Clarke's attack and Rice's week of foot-dragging before finally succumbing to public pressure.

Conventional wisdom holds that her days in politics are numbered. Some predict she will exit the White House if President George W. Bush wins a second term, if not before. Time magazine has bluntly asked, "Is Condi the Problem?"

Ms. Rice is going to wipe the floor with these pikers.

I dunno. Didn't she recently let herself get steamrollered by that fossilized hack Ed Bradley? She was not prepared for Bradley even though there is a 20-year history of Bradley's "interviewing technique" of dishonest rhetorical questions, badgering, and rude interruptions. There is a way to combat this (juvenile, self-aggrandizing) technique but nobody gave Condi a heads-up.

I sure hope she is better prepared for the scumbags on this "commission".

If Condi were a Democrat, some would say that what we have been witessing is another high-tech lynching. If you recall, anytime the mean, white Republicans dared to question the integrity of any of Clinton's minority appointments, it was assumed to be racial in origin.

The whole system is broke. The irony is that no one could have predicted 9/11 just like no one can predict the future. This 3-ring circus is designed to make big government look like they're relevant. In reality, they are the problem, not the solution.

Democrat Senator Nimrod: "Do you, Condoleeza Rice, swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God?"

Condoleeza Rice: "I do."

Senator Nimrod: "Please proceed."

Condoleeza Rice: "The truth is that Bill Clinton's main priority for eight years was his penis. He delegated decision making to career-climbing, self-serving, incompetent arrogant jackasses like Richard Clarke, and nincompoops like Madeleine Albright. Had Clinton at least a modicum of concern for anything than his next b..w job, 3,000 Americans might not have perished on 9/11/2001."

Comments on several threads suggested that Condi fell victim to selective editing by CBS on that 60 minutes interview...FWIW, and, of course, in hindsight, she shoulwe have insisted on the entire segment being broadcats..no edits...and, oh yeah, she IS gonna wipe the floor with Clark...last night on SNL, they did a skit of Clarke testifying before the 9/11 commission, and they pilloried him...

I didn't mean to pick on you - I'm just a little sensitive on this subject because David Gregory, major clymer of NBC, takes great pleasure in saying NINE MONTHS.

With this kind of imprecision, how am I suppose to believe anything else Gregory utters?

We don't know that, b/c much of
the interview was edited out. As
for Bradley, he bombed, not Condi.
He tried blaming the Admin. for
9-11, then said it was useless to
kill or capture terrorists now.

Even idiots could see through the
Lefty-Looney-Dem-Media-Hack & his
hatchet job.

No truer words have been spoken. This kangaroo court was exposed when clarke's book was used as gospel to badger rep. witnesses. Now, we have commissioners going around appearing on talk shows and leaking private testimony. And we're suppose to believe they're relevant? This commission is a sham and all should have recognized that when hearings were demanded in time of war and an election year.

Well, September IS the ninth month. Setting aside the FACT that Bush was sworn on on the 20th day of January (that's 2/3rds the way into the month for those of you in Rio Linda), and that 9/11 happened on the 11th day of the month, between the two partial months, you have seven full months and a few days.

Too much math for Gregory. I hope he doesn't have to worry about word problems like "If a train left Madrid at 7:00am going 60MPH...
