President Bush just threw out the first pitch for the Cardinal-Brewers baseball game. And nailed it for a strike, just as he did in 2001 at the Yankee playoff game.

It looked great - the entire stadium was on it's feet cheering - I couldn't hear one boo in the crowd.
You could tell GW was excited to be here - St. Louis loved it!

So did VP Cheney at the Cubs-Reds opener. A strike with HEAT!
Not that it matters but did Clinton ever throw out a first pitch? Can't imagine that load throwing a baseball.
To: TheBigB
Mostly cheers with an undercurrent of boos...and you could tell the cheering crowd was cranking it up trying to drown out the booers...

St. Looouie is overwhelmingly Democrap. If Dubya got more cheers than boos there, I'd say he's in fine shape statewide. :)

some...not a lot...and definetly not the majority, but there were some...
You could tell he was having a great time, and had a nice little interview with Fox announcer and St. Louis announcer Joe Buck afterwards. They talked baseball and it's obvious he loves it. He was wearing a Cardinal jacket and appeared to be loving it...
Said he was going back to Crawford tonite.

Charlotte, North Carolina-AP -- President Bush acknowledges his "wing isn't what it used to be."
But he's still looking forward to throwing out the first pitch in St. Louis today, where the Cardinals will host the Milwaukee Brewers.
Bush told a crowd in North Carolina that he spent the weekend "loosening up," before acknowledging his arm isn't what it used to be.
He later told reporters he'll try to throw a straight fastball with a "little hop on it."
The one-time team owner called opening day "pretty special for a guy like me who loves the game."
President Bush plans to be in St. Louis, where Albert Pujols and the Cardinals play the Brewers. It will be the first time in three years Bush throws out a ceremonial first pitch on opening day - he did it when Miller Park opened in Milwaukee.
''It just shows what an occasion it is in St. Louis,'' Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen said. ''To have him here, it's going to be like a holiday.''
Vice President Dick Cheney will throw out the first pitch in Cincinnati, where the Cubs and Reds worked out Sunday in wintry conditions at Great American Ball Park.

No, the security concious clinton would never have thrown anything if there was the remotest chance of it being thrown back at him.

To: TheBigB
He immediately traded himself to the Cubs for Sammy Sosa. You probably saw the stupid Democrats beating-up W for trading Sammy to the Cubs... once again, they can't get their facts straight: he traded Sammy to the White Sox who then traded him to the Cubs. Leave it to Demos to NEVER fact-check anything.

Not that it matters but did Clinton ever throw out a first pitch? At first I thought you typed "first bitch", not "first pitch". Anyway we all would have been better off if he had thrown out the first bitch.

Arrived in 5th inning. Sammy Sosa hit game winning home run (#30). I'm sure he was expected to be there for the game to start... and I'm sure they didn't let him sing "take me out to the ballgame" -- would have been embarrassing but I'm sure my Cubbie fans would have given him an appropriate welcome.

Wow! what a shot. You should have seen it whae he did it in NYC right after 911. Boy, that took some courage to do, and I do not care how much security he had. It really helped the morale of the city. He never gets any credit for how he helped turn the town around. It was not all just Rudy. In addition to moral courage, W has real physical courage. Rare in a President.
To: listenhillary
If I recall correctly, that photo is not from today, that photo is from W's throwing out the first pitch at a game sometime shortly after 9-11. I have it on my hard drive somewhere, downloaded it a long time ago. I am looking forward to a picture from today's game, though.

Looks like Dubya is a better pitcher than many on the team he used to own. (Snicker) As a Mariner's fan, we get to see the Rangers quite often. I was thinking that Orel Hirschiser (sp?) would help that teams bullpen.
Anyway, some years ago, my daughter (then in her mid-teens) and I were watching a Mariners/Rangers game. The Rangers were beating us, and the innings were dwindling down. I moaned, "Oh, no, this doesn't look good." To which my daugher replied; "Don't worry, they have to go to their bullpen eventually."
Sure enough, they did, we won.
