Edited on 05/27/2014 11:31:00 AM PDT by Admin Moderator. [history]

Note: Don't post anything at all from the Las Vegas Review Journal or anything from organizations run by Stevens Media, LLC or RightHaven, LLC until the lawsuit brought against us by them is resolved.

Here's an updated alphabetical list of the sites that have complained about copyright violations thus far. The posting program will only allow excerpts and or deny posting where designated from the following sites:

These sites must be excerpted and linked only [300 words or less, 1/2 the words or less for short articles]:

All McClatchy sources must be excerpted and linked.

These publishers have asked us not to allow any material at all to be posted to FR:

05/06/04 -

Received another letter from Gannett Publications, publisher of USAToday, and several other newspapers. Due to contractual arrangements they have with third-party content providers, they have denied our request to allow posting of excerpts. They will only allow the posting of titles and links.

Please do not post full text or even excerpts from the following Gannett Web sites:

GANNETT NEWSPAPERS ON THE WEB:

We will eventually add a link to this list from our posting program. In the meantime, you can find it by searching on "copyright list."

In addition to all of the above, do not post articles written by Maralyn Lois Polak per her copyright complaint. Her column usually appears on WorldNetDaily.

Also, do not post images from Corbis or Getty.

Thanks,

Jim

********Additional

New York Times must be excerpted.

All material from the Associated Press must be excerpted regardless of source (very brief excerpts). AP photos are not allowed.

Photographs, pictures, images, graphs etc may not be posted if the websites are on the lists or added in any of the posts below.

Jim if you want us to excerpt Business Insider, why not add it to this list?

Possible copyright list delisting:

Ars Technica is on the list since they are part of Condé Nast Digital. However, they just released a statement saying they've changed their terms to account for limits to copyright law.

I'd think at least excerpting would be allowed now.

When they took the fifth amendment, I was quiet because I didn't own real estate.

When they took the fourth amendment, I was quiet because I didn't deal drugs.

When they took the sixth amendment, I was quiet because I was innocent.

When they took the second amendment, I was quiet because I didn't own a gun.

Now they've taken the first amendment, and I can say nothing about it.

Been there, done that, got the blinders!

Our Constitution only stipulates ONE 'Right' specifically, and even then with some limitation:

It also specifically states ONE Restriction to those Writings: As all Speech and Debate is entered into the Congressional Record, that exempts them from claiming any privilege or Right of Authorship.

Political speech and debate was never supposed to be restricted in any way, and yet Congress has allowed restrictions to be placed through excessive allowances for copyright. To understand just how ridiculous these excesses have become, look up Walter S. Taylor and his loss of his last name and vocation.

Renew, reclaim, and restore the Constitution.

I have often posted some "caption this" threads and have recently had a couple pulled, due to copyright complaint. But I am confused, as all pictures I posted, were from Reuters.

Other than this statement: Also, do not post images from Corbis or Getty, there is nothing else said about images being posted, or at least, I was unable to see where AP, Reuters, etc images were not allowed.

I want to follow the rules here, so can you tell me if there is/are any other source(s) for images, that are not allowed?

Thank you Jim. God Bless.

Regarding your statement at the top of the page:

Note: Don't post anything at all from the Las Vegas Review Journal or anything from organizations run by Stevens Media, LLC or RightHaven, LLC until the lawsuit brought against us by them is resolved.

The Stevens Media newspapers are listed at their website [http://www.stephensmedia.com/newspapers/]and shown below so an FR poster can comply with Jim's current request:

Arkansas

Hawaii
Missouri
Nevada
North Carolina
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Texas
Washington

Sometimes Reuters will use photos from Corbis/Getty and others. I’m not saying that is the case in your postings but it can happen.

Has there been an update on Gannett? I have tried to post articles (Title and link) based on this info at the top of this thread,

"05/06/04 -

Received another letter from Gannett Publications, publisher of USAToday, and several other newspapers. Due to contractual arrangements they have with third-party content providers, they have denied our request to allow posting of excerpts. They will only allow the posting of titles and links.

And FR site won't let me post.

Didn’t see AP on the list. I wanted to post the following:

but at the bottom of the Article is said Associated Press. I thought they were on the “list”.

Thank you and sorry to bother you.
