Looks to me like the latest anti-conservative attack strategy of the liberals. they hate Rush, Savage and the others on the radio, they hate Fox on TV and they hate us on the web. Well, their loss. Any site that requires registration to read the full article, I don't bother with.

Exactly. As fast as the readership of some of these crappy papers and newsmags is declining, I wouldn't think they could afford to be alientating any potential readers.

Jim Robinson: "These publishers have asked us not to allow any material at all to be posted to FR."
Mudboy Slim: "Can they enforce that?"
FairOpinion: "They can't dictate to us, not to use an excerpt or discuss their articles."
Certainly, those publishers can't be relying on the copyright laws for this. What's up with that, Jim?

CHAPTER 9. Fair Use
Fair use is a copyright principle based on the belief that the public is entitled to freely use portions of copyrighted materials forpurposes of commentary and criticism. For example, if you wish to criticize a novelist, you should have the freedom to quote a portion of the novelist's work without asking permission. Absent this freedom, copyright owners could stifle any negative comments about their work.
Unfortunately, if the copyright owner disagrees with your fair use interpretation, the dispute will have to be resolved by courts or arbitration. If it's not a fair use, then you are infringing upon the rights of the copyright owner and may be liable for damages.

This is a list of people who are ashamed of what they publish. The idea that what they write and publish can be archived, is absolutely abhorrent to them.
They count upon the short attention span of most Americans and hope that nobody will do a factual check at a later date.
We may not post the full text from these sources on Free Republic, but what you do with your own computer is a different matter.
Like a Vampire, they are terrified of being exposed to the light.

Did you read the article on atzlan about the four American security specialists killed in Iraq? It says, in part...
The four US mercenaries that met a cruel death in Iraq today were selling their services to the oil companies for a few bucks a month. The Iraqi people who killed them were defending their land from foreign invaders determined to loot their oil.
Anti-Americanism at its worst.

Sec. 107. - Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use
Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include -

"...I didn't want to spend the rest of my live in depositions and court hearings..." I can appreciate that, and it's not like sticking your finger into Justin Raimando's eye is going to advance any of your goals with your FreeRepublic website.
On the other hand, being subject to frivolous lawsuits is more a matter of being alive and breathing, rather than having actually committed any kind of civil wrong. In the end, each person has to decide for himself where to draw the line between threats of lawsuits and their own personal goals.

This is pretty bad.....they can report, but we can't discuss. OKAY...
There was a thread awhile ago, in which someone quoted a so called anti-freeper...who had written to a news website that had a poll on it. The gist of it was "dear website you have officially been freeped". They proceeded to explain why...and if I recall correctly, the website explained how the poll was tilted as a result.
I'm totally convinced that people that don't like FR write and complain to every single source used for discussion..hoping to get a negative reaction towards FR.

Obviously, these sites know of the growing number of members FR has. FR is becoming one of the biggest political forums on the Internet, and these sites want to get some of FR's hits. Through all the years FR has been in circulation with the exception of LA and WP, they haven't complained. However, the number of sites wanting to get direct hits from freepers is growing.
