26 Iraqis Die in U.S. Strike on Fallujah

Tue Apr 6, 5:01 PM ET

FALLUJAH, Iraq - U.S. warplanes firing rockets destroyed four houses in the besieged city of Fallujah late Tuesday, witnesses said. A doctor said 26 Iraqis, including women and children, were killed and 30 wounded in the strike.

U.S. Marines have been battling Iraqi guerrillas since Monday in a siege aimed at putting down Iraqi guerrillas in Fallujah, one of their main strongholds.

The rockets destroyed the houses in two neighborhoods in the city after nightfall Tuesday, the witnesses said.

Rafie al-Issawi, a doctor at Fallujah General Hospital, said the hospital received the bodies of 26 dead along with 30 wounded soon after. He said their wounds suggested they had been in the destroyed houses.

The deaths bring the total death toll among Iraqis in Fallujah on Tuesday to 34, including eight during heavy street fighting during the day.

I will worry about Fallujah's children when their parents start worrying. It is just like those folks to put their children in a situation where they can be killed and then whine about it afterward. Maybe they can stop having their children play with corpses too.

Bingo. We have bent over backwards to do it without blood and what have they given us but the back of their hand-- F em. The Kurds are aces in my book--great people and great allies, they are the only people in that country that I care about right now other than our courageous, decent troops.

The news media is ranking up there with the a-holes of Fallujah on my crap list.

I just took an online survery about Iraq 1 year later. I supported the Pres in all my questions, then I wrote this in the comments to his advisers part:

I want him to be firm, do what's right irrespective of domestic political concerns. I want him to make sure the troops are protected, well-armed and well led. i want him to let the Generals run the war-- I don't want it going through a White House political shop.

I want total war-- I don't want a piecemeal approach like in previous wars. I don't want to see celebrations over our dead people anymore--those celebrations should immediately be attacked from the air.

I don't want the killers to think they get a free pass. I want us to look at the world as it is, adapt to changes and put troop security at a very high level.

I want more predator drones, I want more black bag jobs. I want leaders (like Sadr) who oppose us there to not emerge as symbols of resistance to "occupation", these people shouldn't be elevated in the Gulf media--they should simply be eliminated.

I want changes if they are needed to be made without consideration to the political heat it may bring-- i.e. if we need more troops, send them--if the carpers want to carp they'll carp.

Also, I think people like Colin Powell and Hill Republicans should highlight the gross ( practically treasonous) partisanship rhetoric of the Democrats. The American people are not in the mood for Kerry and Kennedy to stab our troops in the back. The American people are not in the mood for the Left to cost us this war and to put us all in greater danger.

I know the President wants to appear above the fray, but the reckless, irresponsible politicization of this war by the Kerry campaign and the DNC needs to be called out and countered.

Just win, just do the right thing. Lead!!!! Don't handcuff the troops--let them fight and win. Punish our enemies. If Iran and Syria are playing dirty in Iraq's internal affairs, it does no good to give them a pass. Take the war wherever it leads, don't pull any punches.

Frankly my dear, after last week's atrocity, I don't give a damn. These same kids may very well have been the ones out in the streets celebrating the mutilation of four US civilians. The folks in Fallujah understand only one thing: brutal force.

I agree as well. One thing about these types - they are natural bullies. Give 'em a whiff of grape and they'll quiet down right away.

Fortunately most Iraqis have longer memories and know what would happen if these thugs got control again.

And I notice none of the media have picked up on the fact that Saddam murdered his father and 2 brothers, but not him. Saddam had his useful idiots among the Shia, just as he did (and does still) in the west.

After Assad took out a city-- no more trouble.

Sadly, these people are begining to justify the behavior of the tyrants that lead them. I'm guessing an Alan Alda type wouldn't be leading an arab nation for long--these people have the leaders they deserve.

Oh, I hope. Sistani is old and calmer (hopefully, not like Khomeni), let's pray Sadr and him aren't running a double game on us.

I think it is likely that Sadr will try to kill Sistani--makes perfect sense to me. hasn't Sadr basically taken over Najaf--I think that is where Sistani is based. Hasn't there already been an attempted hit on Sistani? I hope we are seeing to it that Sistani is in safe keeping. Taht's the last thing we need. But it makes sense that Sadr wants to be eliminate his rivals for leader of the Shia.

I also fear that some of the wonderful Shiite exiles that were agitating for us to oust Saddam (who presently staff the CPA) are probably allied with Sadr and other Iranian elements.

This is a complicated thing we are involved in--pray for the troops and pray that Bush and the Pentagon make wise decisions. If these people don't want to be helped, that's when we just go full tilt kick butt-- no more Mr. Rogers stuff.

No sympathy here, either. There is one way and only one way to quell this type of violence in an occupied country - they have to be forced to lose the will to fight. To do that, they must be overwhelmed by the destruction and loss of life THEY incur.

So far, we've been pretty nice and absorbed a lot of casualties without really striking back hard. The time has come to end that policy. The time has come to drop a MOAB or 3 in the center of Fallujah and make an example of that city so that ALL of the folks who think this is an updated version of Mogadishu will understand just how wrong they are. IOW, it's time for Shock and Awe - the Sequel.

The only way Bush will lose popular support is for him to show weakness and lack of resolve. Unfortunately for all of us, the Kennedy Rats know this and have embarked on creating a "second front".

You make a very good point.

The enemy hides among civilian populations, uses civilians as human shields, and somehow the onus for these deaths is shifted to the United States.

These savages deliberately create situations that are hazardous for woman and children; indeed many of these woman and children are active participants.

People expect our Marines to be attacked with AKs and RPGs and simply duck and cover because the Muslim creeps are hiding behind their woman and children. This is nonsense.

People say we can't enter mosques to arrest certain people, because they are holy sites; set one on fire and note the explosions that will undoubtably follow. From all of the stored weaponry inside, of course.

I don't care about Muslim holy sites, holy days, or any of that. I'm not a Muslim. Drop a MOAB on Saudi Arabia during the Haj, and as far as I'm concerned, it's Monday or Tuesday. That's all it means to me.

These Satan worshippers could care less whether they bomb you on Christmas Day, Easter, Passover. They have zero respect for the holy days of others, and I think this courtesy should be extended to them as well.

People need to realize on thing; I'm sure those of non-religious persuasion won't care, and this is not intended for them.

Islam is an evil religion. One can see the fruits of it daily; this is nothing new either. It's violent, treacherous, and hatefilled. Just like the One who rules them.

When you have a group of people who have collectively allowed to let satanic forces rule them, it should be no surprise to anyone that bad things happen to them collectively, and that includes their women and children.

We're at war with Islam, although many people are simply too afraid to acknowledge this; I'll concede that it is a frightening thought, billions of people matched against billions of others.

It's what they want however.......they court Armageddon on a daily basis.

The things they do don't surprise me as a Christian............we've been waiting for them for a long time............

Political correctness has so infected America that even those who know better have been subliminally influenced by it.

We can't go into a mosque to arrest a murderer because the Muslims will become angry....or....We must cease all military operations because it is the holy month of Ramadan. It's not just liberals saying these things.

These demons need to know that we'll pursue them into their mosques, drag their filthy imam out, then proceed to burn the slime pit to the ground. That the Haj is perceived by us as a favorable time to attack, as the most hardcore types will be concentrated in one place. That we'll walk anywhere we want to in your holy places, attack anywhere, anytime. That we could care less about their holy places and days, simply because we don't think Satan and his places and days are holy, nor do they deserve one ounce of consideration.

You're right.

Today, btw, the Spanish police announced that the documents found in the house where the March 11 terrorists blew themselves up indicated that they had been planning to carry out attacks on Spaniards during Holy Week. Spain has a lot of processions and public religious events during Holy Week, and that apparently seemed like a perfect target to the Muslims.

.....the Muslims will be angry. When did you ever see a happy Muslim? Let's see........after the World Trade Center came tumbling down, after a busload of Jews is bombed, after Americans are murdered, mutilated and dragged through the streets. After they behead some journalist after treacherously promising him a "story". The list goes on and on.

They are only happy when committing acts of pure brutality and sheer evil, just like their Father.

I'm not surprised one bit, livius. I'm sure you are not either.

It's getting tiring hearing how "it's only this sect doing this", or "this Islamic country is a rogue nation". This thinking will get you killed.

Pakistani scientist gives away nuclear technology--connect all the dots and the network spans the globe. The United States faces combatants in Iraq sent from virtually every Muslim country in the world, but we're told it's a local problem. Most hijackers on 9-11 were from Saudi Arabia, but they are our friends we're told.

OPEC manipulates the price of oil (sorry DU lurkers, it's not Bush and Co), we're paying through the nose. OPEC of course is dominated by the Saudis.

The Saudis are preparing for war; that's what they are doing here. It's a deliberate attempt to cripple the US economy at a critical time; we need oil to wage this war on terror and the Saudis know it. They are helping the terrorists through these actions and they know it.

The time is coming when we will be forced to drive on Mecca and put an end to these Wahabist promoters. They are not our friends; they are as much an enemy as Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, and the rest of that filthy brood known as Muslims.

The sooner we smash them, the better off the world will be. It's only going to get worse with these people as they continue to plot more terrorism, play with biological weapons, build nuclear weapons. It's not going to get better, as frightening as it may seem.

They are deceitful, pretending here and there to be helping the United States; all they are doing is buying time, and we let them.

This story was written thousands of years ago, told to any who would listen, and the best we can muster with such advance warnings are feeble, politically correct slogans.

I wonder how many Marines would be living today if we had simply gone into Sadr's mosque earlier, and dragged him out by the hair.

These Imams are all the same........issuing their proclamations from within their comfortable mosques, knowing that they can do so with impunity.

So we learned a lesson in dealing with this guy. Let's apply it. Kick down the doors to his mosque, and shoot anybody who resists. Throw him to the ground, cuff him, and drag this putrid being off to Gitmo.

Then we'll see how eager the next 'religious figure' is to shoot off his big mouth next time around, knowing that holy places and days offer zero protection.
