Sheesh. Am I that unclear or are you being deliberately obtuse?
OTHER POSTERS wondered why the Marines were being put in that position - they seemed to think it unnecessary.
I'm not trying to insult the Army, and it's pretty obvious that the different branches of service and the different divisions & units within each branch have different missions and specialties.

another controlled landing - Iraqis look over a pair of flattened cars crushed by armored vehicles after fighting between insurgents and U.S. forces erupted in the north Baghdad suburb of Adhamiya April 6, 2004
To: Amelia
Yes, I understood that. I've comment on other remarks you've made, and yet you're answering something I'm not talking about. You raised some points about the size of a MEF that I think aren't correct. Are you sure? I'm not trying to fuss with you. A Corp in Army terms is a huge force.

Jim Miklaszewski talking to Imus I don't trust Miklaszewski's reporting anymore. He had a run in with Rumsfeld and ever since he seems to have a bias against him. It's too bad because I use to pay a lot of attention to what he has said in the past. Maybe NBC got his FBI files[/Tin Foil Hat].

Aaron Brown could hardly contain his glee at the Marine deaths last night. He and his fellow sickos at CNN are disgusting. I saw that last night too ... as I don't have FOX news in Canada. I tella, when I saw that little bas!ard light up a smile when he was talking about that I actually threw something accross the room. Man I am still pi$$ed about that. And of course that Walt Rogers idiot doing his "sky is falling routine" was just so nuts.

You raised some points about the size of a MEF that I think aren't correct. From my days as a Gator Sailor and working with the III MEF out of Okinawa. Not including support personnel a MEF is between 1200-1500 Marines. My memory may be faulty but I don't think so.

THE US HAVE BOMBED A MOSQUE IN THE CENTER OF FALLUJAHNPR was reporting yesterday afternoon that we were finding weapons caches in mosques in Fallujah.
They sounded amazed, but they were reporting it and appeared to believe it (as opposed to reporting that 'Marines *said* they found...')

Pentagon update from Fox: Head of Al Sadr's office in Karbala has been killed by Polish troops. Ramadi ...gunmen hiding in cemetery. Opened fire from there. New fighting in Ramadi today. Marines push towards center of Fallujah. Tape of Kimmitt saying we will destroy the Mahdi Army.
Kimmitt says if Mr. Al Sadr wants to calm violence, he should turn himself in.

Texas Lone Star), 13th Corps Support Command (over a brigade in size), and the 6th AirCav .. well over 60,000 troops. By comparison, a MEF (at least as of a few years ago) is comprised of about 53,000 Marines (a heavy division, an air wing, and associated support elements).
