Christ lives, and so will America, as long as we honor Him!
Covenant News ^ | 4-10-04 | Chuck Baldwin

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead separates our Lord from all the world's messiahs and separates Christianity from all the world's religions. Furthermore, the resurrection of Christ Jesus also separates the United States of America from every other nation on earth.

Therefore, it is no accident that the Easter story (along with the Christmas story) incurs the wrath and revulsion of Christ-rejecters as no other. The "god of this world" is relentless in his attacks against all those who even remotely seek to honor the work of Christ on the cross and His subsequent resurrection from the grave.

Look no further than Mel Gibson's film, The Passion Of The Christ, as an example. Ever since this reverent and realistic depiction of our Savior's suffering and death was released on the big screen, both network and cable television programming has been filled with all sorts of "experts" trying desperately to debunk the legitimacy of Christ's death and resurrection. Beyond that, Gibson himself has been accused of anti-Semitism, of being a Nazi, of being a lover of violence, ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

The furor over Gibson's phenomenal film makes it obvious that anti-Christian bigotry is alive and well among the Hollywood elite, in network board rooms, and in media executive committee meetings. Yet, for those of us who have come to that place called Calvary via repentance and faith, it is requisite to once again remind the skeptics and gainsayers of this world that we serve a crucified, buried, and risen Savior. This is especially necessary at this special time of year.

Furthermore, the hatred and animosity against the Gospel reveals deeper motives within the hearts of those who attempt to attack the founding principles of our beloved republic. Yes, Martha, you will find that the same people who hate our Christ also hate our country!

After all, the United States of America was a nation established in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His glory. The founders of this country were emphatic about that! Therefore, the imprint and influence of the Savior are seen and felt throughout the length and breadth of this nation. And it is that same imprint and influence that the secularists are feverishly attempting to expunge.

However, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead also seals the doom of God's enemies! Try as they will, they are a defeated foe! The empty tomb has secured their fate.

Therefore, if America wishes to remain a free and independent republic, if this nation truly desires future peace and prosperity, and if we genuinely aspire to remain a blessed and protected land, we must quickly throw off this devilish attempt to de-Christianize our country and humbly return to the God of our fathers!

After all, it wasn't a dead and deteriorated false god upon which America received its vision and hope; it was the crucified and resurrected God-man, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Yet it doesn't say so anywhere in the Constitution.

AMEN!!!! I could not have said this better myself. If you had only posted this part of the article, you still would have posted a mouthful. Hopefully now, the rest of our citizens will slowly begin to see and realize the truth as well as the gravity and seriousness of this statement.

You don't have to see a phrase that out right says,"this nation was founded on the principles of Christ and the Christian faith" to know our country was founded on the truth of the life, death, burial and ressurection of Christ.
There is case law in existance from past Supreme Court decisions that plainly and clearly say, America is a Christian Nation. As you walk around Washington D.C., you will notice one over riding fact. Almost everywhere you look on our government buildings, there are references to scriptures in the Bible. There is nothing from the koran, or any other religious writings, but the Bible. On the doors at the entrance to the United States Supreme Court, you will find the Ten Commandments printed in their entirety.

Yes, America is a Nation founded on Christians principles, intended by our fore fathers to be a Christian Nation.

May God save these United States of America from her sins, her enemies and ourselves.

I'm always puzzled why conservatives make this assertion. There's also past Supreme Court caselaw which says that abortion is a constitutional right, though nobody ever seems to treat that with reverence. Do we get to pick and choose which ones we think indicate the Court's inimitable majesty?

Your right that God is not in the constitution but, he was in the hearts of those who wrote it.

We don't treat abortion with the same revrence because we can go back and find specific writings where our fore fahters clearly announced their beliefs, we can not say the same about abortion.

One of the lines in the Pre amble to the Constitution specifically states, everyone has the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. All 3 of these rights are denied to the unborn with prejuidice every time an abortion is performed.

... the common law existed while the Anglo-Saxons were yet pagans, at a time when they had never yet heard the name of Christ pronounced or that such a character existed. -- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Major John Cartwright, June 5, 1824

Christianity neither is, nor ever was, a part of the common law. -- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814, responding to the claim that Chritianity was part of the Common Law of England, as the United States Constitution defaults to the Common Law regarding matters that it does not address.

Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the mere Abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus. -- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Francis Adrian Van der Kemp July 30, 1816, denouncing the doctrine of the Trinity and suggesting it to be so riddled in falsehood that only an authoritarian figure could decipher its meaning and, with a firm grip on people's spiritual and mental freedoms, thus convince the people of its truthfulness

The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as his father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. -- Thomas Jefferson, letter to John Adams, April 11, 1823, quoted from James A. Haught, "Breaking the Last Taboo" (1996)

A professorship of theology should have no place in our institution. -- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Thomas Cooper, October 7, 1814, referring to the University of Virginia

Thanks for the timely posting. Actually, America isn't as hopeless as some people say and think it is. Church attendence in the nation is around 50%, which is very substantial. Furthermore, crime, illigetimate pregnacies, and abortions have all fallen substantially, and even the divorce rate has dropped slightly. I don't deny that modern society has its problems and shortcomings, but the previous generations here weren't as righteous as many think they were. The huge success of "The Passion of the Christ" is also very revealing of the country. Chances are, it will break box office records.

Nice idea, but while we have so many socialist-minded AKA the Democrats, the de-Christianization of America continues. Prayers and movies like the Passion may instill the thought of Jesus and His teachings.

Jefferson was a Deist. So what? There was more than one founding father, and the vast majority believed that the Almighty governed the affairs of this country.

If I am not mistaken Thomas Jefferson was one of the two members of the 52 framers of the Constitution who did support the notion of Christianity being in common law.
