"I see the commission members are out today....spewing their opinions before this inquiry is even finished!..."
It is what McCain/Feingold Campaign Finance reform has brought us. "The Commission" the investigative arm of liberals in an attempt to destroy President Bush's strength, his credibility.

Richard Ben-Veniste is on CNN. It will be interesting to see whether the program was pre-taped before the release of the PDB.
Maybe it was and BV will stick his foot in his mouth over the PDB.

Last night I was reading the long thread about this after I got home and Pukin Dog said that they are taped Saturday afternoon.
This should be quite interesting. Heheheh.

There is no way that Wolf Blitz and CNN would let Ben-Veniste be sandbagged like that. None.

I see Richard Ben-Veniste (aka "Bent Penista") is all over the talk shows to spin,
spin, Spin, SPIN! This guys has had fingerprints all over the Clinton coverups--from the search of Vince Foster's office to Hillary's illegal health care con meetings.
I cannot believe he sits in judgement on others whose character he could not emulate in 1,000 years.

No, not true. As the long time keeper of this thread, I remember this question being asked and investigated (numerous times). Very often important guests get interviewed after leaving the studios--occasionally making newsworthy statements--all on Sunday morning. Fox News Sunday, Meet the Press and Face the Nation are all done Sunday morning. I can't speak for This Week, but when David Brinkley was running it, it also was done Sunday morning. CNN? I don't know. Pukin Dog may be right on that one.
To: Alas Babylon!

The media lap dogs and the Dirtycrats will continue operate in their Bizzaro Alternate Universe and try to brainwash the American people into believing that "Bush Knew!" was the gospel truth.
_______________________________________________________________________
Democratic and Republican members of the 9-11 commission saw the document differently.
Democratic commissioner Bob Kerrey, a former senator from Nebraska, said the memo's details should have given Bush enough warning to push for more intelligence information about possible domestic hijackings.
"The whole argument the government used that we were focusing overseas, that we thought the attack was coming from outside the United States this memo said an attack could come in the United States. And we didn't scramble our agencies to that," he said.
Richard Ben-Veniste, a Democratic commissioner and former Watergate prosecutor, said the memo calls into question national security adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites)'s assertion Thursday that the memo was purely a "historical" document.
"This is a provocative piece of information and warrants further exploration as to what was done following the receipt of this information to enhance our domestic security," he said.

Great Eastern Morning, all!
Until recently, I was what you could call a "lapsed catholic, Roman Division".
Regardless of having between little to no respect for the current socialist puppet imposter (recommended reading: In God's Name) sitting on the throne of Rome and hoping the next is more concerned with matters of religion rather than fluff.
However, muslims are bringing me back to flock.

The Dems are trying to have it both ways:
1. They are critizing the GWB administration FOR NOT being preemptive with al-Qaeda (Afghanistan) before 9-11.
2. They are also critizing the GWB administration FOR being preemptive with Saddam Hussein (Iraq).
They are trying to have it both ways. Too bad none of the folk 'across the aisle' are taking them to task. Where is the Republican leadership in the House, Senate? Why aren't they all over the media, like the Dems are, countering these attacks?

Richard Ben-Veniste (aka "Bent Penista, Ben-Venasty")Plus, Gorelick worked in the Clinton Administration under Janet Reno, IIRC. What are Clinton lackeys (add Kerrey and Roemer to this group) doing on a so called "truth-seeking" commission?
Answer: to project blame on Bush and deflect blame from Clinton. Good is evil and evil is good.

Another, The McLaughlin Group (PBS), used to be taped on Friday afternoon/evening. Occasionally, they got caught with later breaking news.
It doesn't have direct interviews of guests, though. It is more of a Jerry Springer format. lol.

Apparently, Bremer's presence on This Week,Meet the Press, and FOX was a late addition. Yahoo does not include him in its line-up. However, Face the Nation (CBS) and Late Edition CNN) did NOT include him.
To: TomGuy
Yeah, that show was funny for awhile. SNL's Dana Carvey did a great McLaughlin, "Mor-TON, WRONG!!!", but McLauglin has been a Bush Basher these last few years. And Eleanor Rodham Clift is simply unbearable.
To: SkyPilot
Benvenista screwed up in his questioning.
He asked first about attacks, then asked for the title. He only wanted the title, but he screwed up.
Dr. Rice, quick thinking, realized that. So when Benvenista fumbled for 'just the title', Dr. Rice wouldn't give in, but continued her remarked to include the summary of the PDB.
Benvenista's little trick didn't work. Next step was for the leftists on the Committee to try another bluff--get the WH to release the full document. They thought the WH would refuse, thus giving them an issue to whine about.
Yesterday, just in time for the evening news, the WH released the document, which was mostly as Dr. Rice said--historical data.
The whole thing blew up in Benvenista's face---all he wanted 'revealed' was the doc tite that 'bin Laden had threated to attack within the US.'

Meet the Depressed is totally focussed on Iraq this morning. Anyone suspect that had the memo released yesterday been what Gore-Lick and Ben Sandanista claimed was in it, then that would have been the focus of MTD?

Of course, Washington Post news "journalists" have much better insights into these things than members of the commission. What an idiot Ben-Viniste is... Oh yeah: he's a Democrat.

Now they're going to go after Ashcroft for what didn't happen with the FBI (without a Director at the time) in his first 200 days in office. Let's not look back at 8 years of Janet "The Torch" Reno's tenure.
To: olde north church
It finally hit me. There was something about Bremer, Senor, Kimmit AND THIS IS NO REFLECTION ON THEIR ABILITIES that was missing when I watched these men.
They lack charisma. In an area of the world where charisma means all, we portray the Coalition with these dull men. It's like watching a bad PowerPoint presentation on a Friday afternoon when all you can think about is your vacation.
Find a Washington, Sherman, Jackson, Pershing, Patton, MacArthur and put him up to speak for crying out loud. We are watching the "middle-managementization of America", passionate oratory and projection of virility wins more hearts and minds than hershey bars and nylons.
Think about it next time you're watching.

That show is like a faculty meeting at a very small English or polisci dept. in some tiny and obscure liberal arts college. It is sort of funny if one can look at it this way. I am not sure what damage they really do as the true believers cannot be swayed in any event and a great many other people watch it for the shear amusment it provides.
To: Alas Babylon!
And Eleanor Rodham Clift is simply unbearable. A friend sent me a wav file of Eleanor taped from the McLaughlin show. It is looped--but it is her actual voice. In it, she whines:
"Bob! Bob! Baahb! BAAAHB! Listen---Bush is stooopid, and Hillary knows it! Baaaaahb! BAAAHHB!

Ben Veniste et al keep saying that the FBI and CIA "didn't talk to each other." Isn't it true that each was forbidden to do so because of a Congressional act/ruling? Set me straight on this if you know.
To: ReleaseTheHounds
Now Ben-Viniste is sucking up to Slade Gordon (RINO) to take slide away from his own slimey tactics.

Since they could "get" Condi, I've noticed that they're turning their attention to Ashcroft.
It's pitiful, and sooooo transparent.
Don't you think that if these "witch hunts" keep up until September or October, the American people are their eyes will just glaze over from the constant repetition and they're going to be turned off by all the negativity.
Speaking of eyes glazing over, anybody ever watch the folks that Kerry's speaking to. Nobody cracks a smile or a grin, they all look "dead." Compare this to pictures of Bush speaking, where folks are smiling and it's a stark contrast.

To: Carolinamom
Yes. There were very strict limitations enacted by LAW to keep them from sharing much information, a result of the Church commission back in the 70's.
To: olde north church
I do not share your opinion about Bremer. I find him very credible, and considering what he has to say, there is no need for him to be dramatic.
To: TomGuy
The whole thing blew up in Benvenista's face---all he wanted 'revealed' was the doc tite that 'bin Laden had threated to attack within the US.' Yes--to any logical person, it did. What depresses me is that on the wires (AP, Reuters, UPI) they are reporting this as if Bush got caught lying about having oral sex with an intern and committing perjury. Trying to reason with these people would be akin to trying to explain to Henrich Himmler that murdering the Jews was wrong.

Ben-Veniste started his answer to Chris Wallace saying "Walter Pinkus has the best perspective -- as the best journalist in Washington on this things..." and then goes on to quote Pinkus that "the CIA agent's motive in writing this Briefing was to warn that more needs done to pursue the terrorist activities" being reported.
Wallace properly tried to interrupt to say "I'm not interested in what some reporter is saying but rather what you as a Commissioner sees" but
Ben-Ven-@hole wouldn't be denied his opportunity to read the Washington Post.
To: Miss Marple
Thanks. Midst all the bloviating and blaming of these 2 entities, the commissioners have failed to recognise and state this fact.
