FLINT, Mich. — A group of children hunting for Easter (search) eggs Saturday during a church event found two loaded handguns outside an elementary school.
Flint police said officers were called to the scene and also recovered a BB gun and a broken toy gun on the grounds of Gundry Elementary School (search). No one was injured, Sgt. Michael Coote said.

We were having an Easter gun hunt, and all my kids found were eggs.
I hate when that happens.

One of the guns discharged when it was dropped, according to a police report, but it was unclear who dropped it. Looks like the silly whole community could use some Eddie Eagle training!

Emphasizing the importance of teaching your children firearm safety.Everyone with kids should have a copy of Eddie Eagle and play it frequently for their younger children. Neighbors kids too, if possible.

I wouldn't put it past them either but since they were found on a school ground by children, I thought it best to show the folks who thought it was in bad taste to know I was saying it in a non-serious way.

My question regarding the guns being found on school grounds is: How could those guns have been there previously and not already been found by children attending the school? This whole incident seems a bit strange to me.

This whole incident seems a bit strange to me. You're right. I wondered about that too. I don't know any gun owners that would leave loaded guns on the playground, especially knowing that it's against the law to take firearms on the school grounds. There's no better way for the anti-gun gang to push for more gun control. This is the perfect setup.

The only other reason I can think of would be to dump a gun that had been used in a crime. Even then, a school would be one of the last places that I'd think would be considered. A nearby creek or river would be much more likely to be used for that.

I don't think a robber would be so stupid to pitch a gun used in a crime on a school ground where it would definitely be found in a hurry.
See post #21. We are not the only ones who think the guns may have been planted.

...the other handgun's clip had bullets in it.Clip?
The ignorance of the media astounds me.
The stupid press is the reason lots of otherwise good folks actually believe a gun will jump off the shelf and shoot someone.
Dumbasses, one and all.

I hate having to play detective to determine what the journalist meant. Did they find four guns, two toys and two firearms?

Hmmm, sounds a bit suspicious to me. It almost sounds lik they were planted in order to generate some media fervor. Isn't Michigan in the middle of a big legislative debate on guns?

That's a rough area of town isn't it? My guess (at least concerning the "real" guns) is that some kind of drug or robbery related deal was taking place, but cops or passersby came into view and the parties involved just dropped the guns and ran. Methinks there may be more "Easter eggs" to be found there.

The article said "children hunting for Easter eggs" so that means someone had to hide the eggs so WHY DIDN'T THEY FIND THE GUNS? set up/set up/set up.

That's a rough area of town isn't it? Can't say as I don't know the area. It just seemed a bit convenient. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid. But these days I don't put anything past the gun grabbers.
