The pilot of the Apache shot down on Easter Sunday was from near here. I thought you would appreciate comments from his family in today's paper. Family member said--
Chuck Fortenberry was just a regular old East Texas redneck. Just a good guy...Before he left he wanted us to know that he was prepared and he knew Christ was his Savior and if he didn't make it home from this conflict that we would see him again one day.
The irony that he died on Easter, the day his Savior rose from the dead is priceless.
The Fortenberry family members said they remained supportive of the war and President Bush and were proud of and prayed for the military personnel still serving, those that had been lost and the families left behind.

The pilot of the Apache shot down on Easter Sunday was from near here. It is so terribly sad when we lose any of our troops. I just cannot imagine the anguish that their families are going through.
The Fortenberry family members said they remained supportive of the war and President Bush and were proud of and prayed for the military personnel still serving...
That is in stark contrast to the public reaction of the family in the neighboring town of Porterville, who also recently lost a son and who are calling for Bush to pull our troops out of Iraq. Even though I am 100% opposed to pulling our troops out, I try not to judge them and their reaction. I don't know what it is like to lose a son. My heart goes out to all of families of our lost men and women.
Who I DO blame is the media for hounding these poor people and for putting them in the position of publicly stating their "feelings" about the war while their grief is so raw. The press just can't seem to get enough of how this family feels about losing their son.
BTW, the little farming town of Porterville here in the Central Valley lost more men (per capita) in Vietnam than any other town in California, and now it has lost another son to war.

Within a 50 mile radius, we have lost 2 in Iraq in the past 5 days. It is so sad.
