Florida Muslim Child Assaulted in School; Attackers Hit Student with Belt, Called Her 'Osama'

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) today called on law enforcement authorities to investigate an assault on a Muslim child at a school in that state as a hate crime.

The 12-year-old victim, a student at a middle school in Boyton Beach who wears an Islamic head scarf, says she was assaulted in the hallway of her school last week by four teenage boys who hit her across the face with a leather belt, injuring her lip.

During the assault, the boys allegedly called the Muslim child "Osama" and used derogative remarks about her head scarf and about her ethnic background. (The child is of Pakistani heritage.) The perpetrators also threatened further attacks if the victim notified school authorities.

The same student told CAIR-FL that she was the target of several similar but less violent incidents of harassment in the recent past. She says school officials failed to take corrective action following those incidents.

"We call on our elected leaders and law enforcement authorities to once again send a message that attacks against American Muslims, particularly children, will not be condoned and that perpetrators of such attacks will be punished to the full extent of the law," said CAIR-FL Executive Director Altaf Ali.

Last week, a Muslim woman was similarly attacked in Tampa. The victim, who also wears an Islamic head scarf, says she was assaulted by three people who told her to "get out of (America)" and said her religion is "hateful and violent." The assailants allegedly blamed the woman for the recent Madrid train bombings.

According to CAIR's national office, the Florida assault is part of a recent rise in anti-Muslim incidents. In Texas, a suspect was arrested last Friday following four arson attacks on Muslim-operated businesses. Last month, vandals wrote "sand n-- gers" and "America rocks b-tch" on the interior walls of the Islamic Center of the South Plains in Lubbock, Texas. In Maryland, the wife of the Imam, or spiritual leader, of an Annapolis mosque was assaulted.

CAIR-FL officials say Florida Muslims have witnessed an alarming rise of bias-related incidents in recent years. In 2001, a Tallahassee man drove his truck into a local mosque. In 2002, a Pinellas county man was arrested for plotting to attack some 50 Islamic institutions in Florida.

CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has 26 regional offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada.

Going by liberal logic - it was ok for osama to attack us because we are mean to people and it makes them do bad things, therefore, it is the muslim child's fault in this case. See how much more sense things make when you twist them around and around? :)

Just because I've attained a 100% inaccuracy rating on this recently, but I'm going to have to call this a "fake hate crime" until proven otherwise.  It has all the earmarks, with CAIR-FL leading the investigation, the inclusion of multiple incidents, and the attack not coinciding with anything else.

Chance, I appreciate you trying to do the mental machinations and gymnastics to arrive at a liberal conclusion, but you're going to pull your brain if you keep that up.  Due to C's being constrained by logic, we should be alcohol related or intoxicated in some form before attempting that stuff.  I find model airplane glue works best for me.

a recent rise in anti-Muslim incidents

...which followed the Muslim slaughter of 3000 American innocents...

Odd that this is hitting the news as a a press release and not a news story. Hmmm.

OK, right out of the box . . . What was the race of the attackers? How do we know that she wasn't attacked by other kids from Pakistan who have become part of American culture? Or, perhaps she was attacked by recent immigrants of a different race.

As the libs say, how can we begin to solve the racial issues if we are afraid to discuss them.

Two questions:

Did she go straight to the "Islamic Relations" office of the state, instead of the Principal's office at the school?

Can/did she identify the boys who did it? After all, they are fellow students in her school, yes?

If "yes" to the first, and "no" to the second, then I smell a rat.

OTOH, when is CAIR going to denounce OBL and the muslims who attacked, continue to attack, and vow to destroy, Americans - just because we're Americans? Doesn't that constitute a "hate crime"? After all, the so-called "fatwas" issued by various muslims against the US call for death to us all. A hate crime, CAIR? Let's get to the root of it here. The muslims are the worst perpetrators of hate crimes in the wolrd - against Christians, Jews, Buddhists, and anyone else who is not a muslim. Isn't that "hate crime"? Where is the ACLU, where is the democrat party, where are the media, where is academe on this? It's a "hate crime", pure and simple.

What was the race of the attackers?

Race is irrelevant, let's talk hate motive. If this actually happened, I'll guarantee you the attackers were either American Christians or Indians (Looking for a fight? Call an Indian a Pakistani.). But given that they supposedly called her "Osama" I think we can forget the Indians.

Actions like this aren't the good side of America and should be punished severely and denounced by all. I'd be mad if CAIR weren't involved, which means it's likely either fabricated or blown out of proportion.

We're all assuming that this girl was not provocative, i.e., perhaps saying something like "Usama is the best thing that ever happened to our people" particularly if there were incidents before.

Remember the copycat who flew his plane into the Bank in Florida? Well, everyone said he was a nice kid...until they read the note that said "I love Usama".

Wow... the Florida chapter of "CAIR" has been busy this week:
TAMPA, Fla., April 7 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Florida office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) today called on law enforcement authorities to investigate an assault on a Muslim woman at a shopping mall in that state as a hate crime.

The victim, the owner of a jewelry kiosk at Westshore Mall in Tampa who wears an Islamic head scarf, says she was verbally and physically assaulted on Tuesday by three people who told her to "get out of (America)" and said her religion is "hateful and violent." The assailants allegedly blamed the woman for the recent Madrid train bombings.

During the assault, one of the attackers allegedly grabbed the victim's throat and attempted to remove her head scarf. The perpetrators fled when the victim ran to find mall security officers. Police are currently investigating the incident as a case of simple battery.

Pakistani pastor shot and killed April 6, 2004

The pastor of a small church in Pakistan was shot and killed last Friday in the village of Manawala, near Lahore, Pakistan.

George Masih, aged 42, was the leader of a small village church which met in his home. He and his wife, Aniata, were active in reaching out to other villagers in the primarily Muslim village in order to share the gospel with them.

Masih had worked previously as an elder in a Church of Pakistan congregation in Lahore. He and his wife relocated the family two years ago to Manawala and were working to plant a church there. They were known in the village for the worship songs that could be heard coming from their house, and for ministering house to house reaching out to neighbors and praying for those who were sick—even if they were Muslims. There is only one other Christian family in the village.

The Christian work of George Masih and his family drew the anger of a Muslim neighbor named Shokat Ali. Ali was irritated by the Christian meetings in Masih’s home, and urged the landlord to kick the family out. On more than one occasion Ali threatened to kill Masih if he continued preaching, according to VOM sources in Pakistan.

Last Friday around noon, Masih, his wife and four children were watching the JESUS film in their home. When the movie finished, Aniata got up to go out of the house. When she opened the door, two masked attackers burst in. One grabbed Aniata and covered her mouth, threatening her with death if she tried to cry out for help.

The other attacker fired a shotgun point blank at George Masih’s face. As the Christian man lay dying, the assailant hit him in the head with the butt of the gun. Then both men fled.

Hearing the cries of Aniata, many neighbors gathered. One neighbor who did not show up was Shokat Ali.

About 300 people gathered in the home of George’s brother for the funeral, including many Muslims who had been blessed by his ministry. Pastor Mukhtar, the pastor who led George to Christ, called the martyred Christian “a true and passionate believer” and said, “he always tried to win the souls with his preaching.”

The Voice of the Martyrs’ contacts who visited the family offered prayers and encouragement to the widow and her three sons (ages 8, 4 and 2) and daughter (age 1).

“At present we are helpless,” Aniata told VOM. “I need the prayers of my brothers and sisters that I may be strengthened by the Lord our God to bear this loss.”

The Voice of the Martyrs urges Christians around the world to pray for this young family, and for other Christians in Pakistan.

I hope this girl is ok and if this kids really did this....then they should be dealt with.....

A Reverse Version:

I was in high school when the whole Ayatolla Khomeni thing was happening. We had a Muslim/Iranian exchange student in my class. He was smart and basically a quiet kid. In school one day, in front of a bunch of us without any provoking whatsoever...he yells...."If the Ayatolla tells me to shoot all of you....I will do it!" We all just stared at him, laughed it off and went on about our business. No one retaliated against him or said anything. That was my first exposure to the muslim mind set and I knew then and there.....it was much bigger than anyone knew.....

When Islam Breaks Down

In my experience, devout Muslims expect and demand a freedom to criticize, often with perspicacity, the doctrines and customs of others, while demanding an exaggerated degree of respect and freedom from criticism for their own doctrines and customs. I recall, for example, staying with a Pakistani Muslim in East Africa, a very decent and devout man, who nevertheless spent several evenings with me deriding the absurdities of Christianity: the paradoxes of the Trinity, the impossibility of Resurrection, and so forth. Though no Christian myself, had I replied in kind, alluding to the pagan absurdities of the pilgrimage to Mecca, or to the gross, ignorant, and primitive superstitions of the Prophet with regard to jinn, I doubt that our friendship would have lasted long.

Maybe Ali would be prefer a new Constitutional amendment on CAIR's behalf?

These people are in no position to be making ANY demands.

Though Americans have shown remarkable restraint after 9/11, one more WTC incident in this country and Altaf Ali and CAIR had better sell their homes and move to France.

It said she was a Muslim from Pakistan. Race was not given, plus the "Osama" comment pretty much cements the reason for the attack.
