Two women have been arrested on murder charges in the shaking death of a 4-month-old boy.
Candis Nikita West, 22, was charged with murder and cruelty to children Thursday in the death of her son, Dante West.
West's former domestic partner and roommate, 29 year-old Baretta Harold Pierce, faces similar charges.
The women are being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
The child died Feb. 11, said Cpl. Dana Pierce.
Police waited nearly two months to file charges because investigators were waiting for the medical examiner to rule out other possible causes of death, Pierce said.
"The circumstances, according to the medical experts, fell into the category of the shaken baby syndrome," Pierce said.

Marietta Daily Journal
MARIETTA - Two Marietta women were arrested late Thursday and charged with felony murder in the shaking death of one of the women's four-month-old son.
Candis Nikita West, 22, has been charged with murder and cruelty to children in the death of her son, Dante West. According to her arrest warrant, the baby's death was the result of a severe head injury caused by violent shaking.
Ms. West's former domestic partner and roommate, 29-year-old Baretta Harold Pierce, also was charged with murder and cruelty to children, as well as a third charge of deprivation of a minor. The third charge, the warrant states, came after the woman admitted she did not feed or change the baby's diapers for six hours during the day before the child's death.
The women are being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
According to the arrest warrant, on Jan. 23, emergency personnel were called to an apartment in the Cobb Crossing apartment complex, located on Oakdale Road near South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.
The child was transported by ambulance to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where he remained for 19 days until he was taken off life support Feb. 11.
Cobb County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Dana Pierce said the two women were living together in the apartment in Smyrna at the time of the incident. He said they are no longer a couple and had moved to separate residences in Marietta after the incident.
Pierce said police waited almost two months to file charges because investigators were waiting for the medical examiner to determine all possible circumstances and the manner in which the child died.
"All that culminated on April 8 when the charges were filed against the two females," Pierce said. "The circumstances, according to the medical experts, fell into the category of the shaken baby syndrome. A medical expert determined that the time frame of this alleged crime occurred while the four-month-old was in the custody of both women."
Pierce said that both women were taken into custody without incident.

The point of the article is not to say that heterosexual women don't kill their babies, but more that, a child was killed and the guardians were arrested. Your comment is absurd.

If and when they go to the table for their dirt naps, can I push the button to send them to he!!? There is no reason to kill a child! In fact let's skip the trial and go straight to the punishment!

The best punishment for them both would be to lock them away in a MEN'S prison.

Well then why is it the poster found it necessary to point out that the accused are lesbians?
To: Viking2002
These two women should be locked in the same prison as Deanna Laney who killed two of her children by stoning along with that woman in Houston who drowned her five children.
To: jsbankston
Well then why is it the poster found it necessary to point out that the accused are lesbians? Its no different than if a straight woman (or a man) has been accused of the same. Think about it..."The suspect's husband, Mr. Blah blah, was also taken in for questioning." Whenever a child dies, some background is invariably given on BOTH guardians, even if one is absentee.

Well yes but Andrea Yates who murdered five of her children by drowning and Deanna Laney who stoned two of her children to death both home schooled the kids that they murdered.
However, if posting a story about these women killing their children I would not state that their being home school moms had anything to do with their being murderers.
To: truthandlife
Being a parent is not for everyone. Obviously, these two had no business trying to raise a child.
To: sasafras
You may be right. Last week Deanna Laney of Tyler, Texas was found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity after she stoned her two children and claimed that God told her to do so. A true Texas Tragedy of the Justice System.
In my world anyone gay, straight, Christian, atheist or Muslim that kills their children should be locked up for life. No Excuses.
To: jsbankston
Are you trying to defend the homosexual (lesbian) lifestyle? Do you think me pointing out that these murderers were lesbians is offensive?
I notice you do defend homosexuals on this forum. Is that why you are offended by the title?

I fail to see what the accused being lesbian had to do with their killing the baby. There is no causation between being a lesbian and killing a child, just as their is no causation between a home school mom and killing your children.
To: jsbankston
The article stated it in a very PC way that they were a lesbian couple
"Ms. West's former domestic partner "
To: truthandlife
Furthermore, I am not defending the lesbian lifestyle as specified in my posts where I say these women along with Andrea Yates and Deanna Laney should be locked up for life.
To: jsbankston

There is a book called 'Violent Betrayal,' by Claire Renzetti, in which she documents women are four times more likely to be victims of domestic violence in a lesbian household than in a married household.
I think that these domestic partnerships with children will have the same effect on these children. Unfortunately it is too early to know because lesbians have only recently had the opportunity to adopt.

It seemed some explanation was needed of a "domestic partner" named Harold who wasn't male. I was certainly curious about it :-)

Unfortunately it is too early to know because lesbians have only recently had the opportunity to adopt. Lesbians just may have recently had the opportunity to adopt children but they have always been able to give birth to their own children by having a male friend volunteer to be the sperm donor.
BTW-Where in the article does it state that this baby was adopted?
To: jsbankston
You wouldn't point out that the the women homeschooled their children. However, it seems that the media points out the homeschooling angle whenever a crime is committed by a homeschooling parent against their child.
I have yet to hear the disparaging tone reserved for homeschooling parents applied to parents who send their children to government schools.
To: jsbankston
Thankfully, heterosexual women would never kill their babies. Heterosexual women kill their children 4000 times every day, without fear of arrest or punishment of any kind.
In this life, anyway.

They will probably get probation... Not if they get a female judge like Judge Patricia A. Cosgrove.
...when women kill a baby its always looked upon with pity...
I hate to say it, but in some cases its looked upon more like an opportunity by the male judges.
But let's just blame feminism like we always do.
To: macrahanish #1
When I child is killed by a parent there is no reason for the media to point out if the parent is gay, straight, white, black, Latino, conservative, liberal, home schools, private schools or sends their kid to public schools. The only thing that is relevant is that if you kill a child, you should be locked up for life or have a needle stuck in your arm.

Candis Nikita WestBaretta Harold Pierce Proof positive, if you give your kids retarded names they're scarred for life and turn into cruel and inhuman adults.
In a just world, all child killers, molesters, and abusers, would be executed. No exceptions, no sympathy. Instead we are going to hear how these saintly "two mommies" were the greatest ever and were driven to abuse by a homophobic society. (Hey, it works for Rosie and Paula what's-her-face).

you kill a child, you should be locked up for life or have a needle stuck in your arm. So far I agree with everything you have said on this thread, ones sexual preference shouldn't have anything to do with anything like this. No matter what else child killers should be treated like any other killers.
Unfortunately it's been my observation over the years that killing a little one isn't treated quite as sternly as killing an adult, with offenders usually getting much lighter sentences.
It's all part of liberalisms beliefs that the younger the victim, the less his life is worth. With the ones yet to be born worth nothing in their opinion.
To: jsbankston
licker-lover,
The point is not that the two have killed a child, the point we all ask ourselves is why do we let sissys' (male or female) adopt in the first place. Dont give me the "born like this" crap either. It is a learned activity. It is unnatural and not practiced by anything else in the animal kingdom. God has a place for those who are vile and disgusting like your two carpet munchers.
PS. Hope this hurt your feelings

To: cpl. jones Eco 2-8
why do we let sissys' (male or female) adopt in the first place. Where in the article did it say that the accused in this crime had adopted the baby? Did it ever occur to you that one of the women may have actually given birth to the child by means of artificial insemination?
It is unnatural and not practiced by anything else in the animal kingdom.
From the above statement I would think that you never took a Zoology class in college or even a biology class in high school? As a matter of fact homosexual activity is found in almost all mammalian species.
Now I will list three cases where a mother killed her child or children. Which of the three below do you think is the greater crime?
A woman in Houston who claims to be a Christian and home schools her children only to drown her children in the family bathtub.
A Tyler Texas woman who not only claims to be a Christian and home schools her kids but also insists that God commanded her to stone her children to death.
A Georgia woman who is a Lesbian shakes her child to death.
From what you have posted on this thread I would imagine that you, would put the lesbian to death and let the Christian women that killed their children walk free.
However, I would like nothing more than to see all three of these monsters locked up for life or executed.
To: jsbankston
Ask the poster, not me. I was pointing out that the article mentioned nothing more than the death of the child and the cause of death and the arresting of the perpetrators.

Feminism is partly to blame for the indifference we now have in our society re. children and babies. There is more outrage by liberals and feminists if a puppy is killed that a child murdered. Why are liberals like yourself commenting on this board anyway?

I'm with you - I see it here in Arizona all the time - w/in the last year two women here murdered their newborns and got off with less than 5 years of prison time. Always sympothy for the mothers - why do we have sympothy for these pieces of human garbage while we fail to consider the pain experienced by these innocent human lives.

Hello, I am a physician specializing in medical-legal issues including the Shaken Baby Crisis. There are many people in prison convicted of the death of their child and the science behind this issue is "junk science." Medical experts from around the world have concluded that of every hundred parents charged with shaking a baby, more than 50 are innocent.
The most consistent factor in these diagnoses is that the child had recently had their immunizations, which commonly change the baby's immune system such that they are at increased risk of infection and death.
Many of these kids were born prematurely and have low vitamin C levels, which leads to a high likelihood of bleeding into the bones, the eye and the brain, without any trauma.
I am involved in reviewing these types of cases and there is one thing I will leave you with: If I were the caregiver of an infant, especially premature ones, and go to the doctor for these toxic baby shots, I would be afraid of being locked up for life, accused of child abuse.

Child abuse is rarely perpetuated by both parents. One may passively allow it, but it is very unusual to see both parents waging their own separate wars against a kid.

No, actually they should all be permanently rehabilitated so there will never be the slightest chance they'll kill again, and so we don't have to pay to feed, clothe, house and guard the scum.
