I thought Sadr was useful on the loose. He was rallying all the little terrorist creeps out into the open so they could be identified and wiped out before the new gov't takes over in Iraq.

But I thought he was willing to die for the cause? No suicide belt? No shootout? All talk and no action?

All turban and no jihad?

If this is true, I'm sure quite a few people are deeply, deeply saddened.

Personally, I'm just puzzled. I could have sworn Sadr was going to fight to the death. He must have forgot.

How reliable is TASS?

They've been John F'n Kerrys' media of choice scince the late 1960s.

I sure hope his head doesn't accidentally fall off in custody.

Naw, he's just another chicken-shi'ite. All turban, no jihad.

Good news if true. How reliable is TASS?

Closer to the DEBKAfile and the New York Times than the Wall Street Journal.

Then again, I had a professor tell me that "even a blind pig gets an acorn every once in a while". Here's hoping 1. we have him and 2. the President will lead his news conference with the details tonight.

This sounds very dubious. There's nothing on any of the news channels.
One of Sadr's deputies was detained, questioned and released today. Maybe they're confusing things?
I can't imagine Sadr being arrested without a big firefight with his supporters.
I doubt this report is true.

this is very likely a rehash of the israel/sky news report, since debunked, of about 12 hours ago. hope not, but it appears that it simply took 'em that long to translate/retranslate bad information.

Is this the same story where it was a lieutenant of Sadr's rather than Sadr himself?

If so, then Sadr now sadder than Daschle.

Maybe we can arrest Daschle and even it out.

He can still die "while attempting to escape". ;-)

No, they've already said the press conference is cover for Ashcroft's testimony (whatever that means).

Frankly, since Reno went out guns blazing against the Clintons (for the Florida McBride debacle), he should cancel it toot-sweet.

Didn't we just release this guy this morning ? Hmmm...sounds like Hazem may have dropped dime on Sadr...

Lieutenant de Moqtada Sadr released by the American soldiers Hazem Al-Araaji, person in charge for the office of the radical head Shiite Moqtada Sadr in Baghdad, was released Tuesday by the American forces after several hours of detention, noted a journalist of the AFP.

I checked the link. The report is 8 hours old. Seems odd no other reports since then.
