RICHARD CLARKE flat out lied

Since I live in the neighborhood of the capture immigration made of the terrorist smuggling explosives here to blow up the LAX terminal it had some interest to me.

Clarke said in his book (and testimony) that because of Clinton's increased alerts to terrorism, the guy was caught.
WRONG - The guy in charge of the customs branch in Port Angeles, WA at the time, now a county commissioner says they had no such alert or heightened awareness. The bomber was discovered by an alert agent because he was sweating and nervous. THEY THOUGHT HE WAS SMUGGLING DRUGS.

Even after he was caught the agents found powdery substances in his car and first thought it was COKE.

Clarke said they found maps of L.A. in the car and knew he was going to blow up the airport. WRONG- It was first assumed that he was going to blow up the Seattle Space Needle because he had a reservation for a motel a couple of blocks away. AND THERE WERE NO MAPS IN HIS CAR That was a lie

The city of Seattle called off a Millenium Celebration planned at the Space Needle. The maps and info on LAX were later found in the bomber's apt in Canada (where he came from) and he was questioned in custody. It wasn't until 9 months later that they put together the L.A. plan.

Clarke has no idea what actually happened up here and spun the story out of his own Clintonesque imagination.
