How did Susan Estrich ever get in the position of a TV commentator?? She's on Fox now, Al D'Amato is making mincemeat out of her.
Also, why were ABC and NBC trying so hard to get President Bush to apologize? They should apologize to us the viewers for all their stupid questions.
President Bush has NOTHING to apologize for!!

Was I imagining it, or right after the press conference ended, did I see Helen Thomas walk by the podium, wagging her head in disgust?
To: LdSentinal
What's Bill Schneider saying? He'll say his "Play of the Week" is Kerry's brilliant "Misery Index".
To: John Lenin
Don't give me that kerry fan crap.
I'm just saying, can Bush with this win over that critical 5% undecided. I'm not sure myself!

Count me in! [i.e., to press bashing party]
You're invited. Come one, come all to the D.C. Chapter's Sixth Annual Freep of the White House Correspondents Association (thread with preliminary announcement). Quoting from that:
Saturday, May 1, 4 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m. The D.C. Chapter's Sixth Annual Freep of the White House Correspondents Association Dinner. Location: Outside the Washington Hilton, Connecticut Avenue and T Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.
Our most fun protest every year. This is your chance to tell the mainstream media to their faces what you think about their biased reporting. You'll also be able to meet and thank those reporters who do their job like it should be done.

Overreliance on catch phrases, to me, means he doesn't have a cogent answer ready.
Today was ok. It could of and should of been a lot better.

And Ceci Connolly on fox said he should hold more press conferences to show what a strong leader he is and not phoney. They finally watched the same press conference we did!It sometimes feels like we're living in a Commie country, where the media tells us THEIR view of what occurred, even if it's not reality...

O' Donnell on MSNBC- The President " stumbled " when he was asked about mistakes he made post 9/11 and didn't have an answer.
Interesting that NBC bugged out for a rerun, after 30 seconds from Russert.I think the media is licking their wounds.
To: wingster
Did you catch the answer W gave about why the FBI and CIA couldn't talk to each other? The law ... which means Congress. I smell a democRAT. Don't play poker with Bush.

I thought I'd fall off my chair - Ceci Connolly surprised me. I think President Bush may have finally gotten through to some of these partisans because he is a humble honest man.
To: Howlin
Actually I don't. I get my news here and don't take time to watch the media make fools of themselves, and there-by our nation.
To: LdSentinal
Good Grief CNN has Lee Hamilton on. Why can't these media hounds simply wait until their report is released before flooding the airwaves. Sickening!
To: uncbob
Bob, there were two very interesting pieces of news this week about WMDs. 1) the Israeli C. of Staff Ya lon or something like that said he was sure we would find the WMDs, though in lesser amounts than we thought, in Iraq; and 2) the
IRANIANS were saying tonight (courtesy of Fox/Brit Hume that we are using the Fallujah al-Sadr stuff to cover up the fact that we are sneaking WMDs "into" Iraq so we can "discover" them later.
All this sounds to me like the people in the region know that either a) WMDs have been found, and we are validating, or b) we are getting pretty close.

The media will get their chance to bash Bush when he goes in front of the 9/11 Commission, spinning his testimony to make Bush appear weak and ineffectual. What do you call 14 questions that came straight from McAuliffe's orifice and a 15th that was at least slightly slanted in that direction out of 17?

THE PRESS IS ABSOLUTELY IDIOTIC... ONLY 2 DECENT HALF-WAY INTELLIGENT QUESTIONS IN AN HOUR!!
I want to see W every week looking at the camera (us), not reporters, telling us how proud he is of our Troops and how he is going to stay the course come hell or high water.
To: HitmanNY
Dubya is at his best when he is just talking like a regular guy. I totally agree. He had some interviews before the election in 2000 (Meet the Press?), that he was smokin' with the answers.
He was very good after church on Sunday, but tonight he was a bit off - not in substance, but on delivery...

Estrich is a croaking Democratic partisan hack. BTW, the Botox and face work she has had done ain't working.
Bush did just fine. His biggest problem is that he is already down the road in his mind from where are these reporters are. He is way ahead of them. And us. He always has been.

did I see Helen Thomas walk by the podium, wagging her head in disgust?"She who dealt it smelt it"
I have been able to understand Bush and his communication skills because I have the exact same problem...because of past experiences I too stammer and freak out in front of certain audiences. Even though I passionately speak to teenagers and women about abortion, social issues, and fight Hollywood, other groups are different! Can't put my finger on it I just have passion but lack the confidence I need in certain situations. I don't think it changes a thing when it comes to his love and passion for the Ameerican people and our traditional values! I think that Bush is simply honest and REAL as opposed to a phony salesman poll watcher type like Clinton!

"You think the Professional (widow) 911 families are bad right now"
NYC, I am starting to get very sick of those ghouls. 3000 people died on 9/11, how many family members did each one have, 5, say for arguments sake, on average? That's 15,000 bereaved family members. And these professional mourners presume to speak for all of them, to the detriment of the war against their kin's murderers. As a born and raised NYer I'd like to say, the war is on, but other than that life is back to normal. The firemen are back to drinking and fighting, and they can just STFU!
I love firemen, don't get me wrong. But this is NY people, life goes on here, and those folks need to get over themselves.

While Clarke can apologize for whatever he chooses, Bush need not apologize for 9/11. As Bush stated, it is Osama bin-Laden who should be made to apologize for the gruesome terror attack on thousands of civilian innocents.
While Kerry and his fellow travelers can call terror groups "freedom fighters', sane folks know that terrorists are murderous thugs, hellbent on domination of the world and the installation by capitulation of a perverse Islamofacist regime wherever they desire.
As for what "reporters" want, I could not care less what they want. What they need to do is report and not manipulate the news of the day.

Michael Savage is saying Bush did badly tonight, some callers agree. The content of what Bush said was GREAT tonight.
The delivery was not so great. In some places he was really embarrassing.
Of course Savage is in no position to critize anyone after his "get AIDS and die" comment.
