FReeper Research: GORELICK WORKED WITH RICHARD CLARKE! (HHS website transcript)
US Dept of Health & Human Services website ^ | 1/22/1999 | adam_az

Thank you, and here's Jamie Gorelick. (Applause.)

MS. GORELICK: Mr. President, distinguished guests. Ten years ago I would not have put cyber terrorism at the top of the threats to our national security. But the landscape has changed. Given how well-armed we are, as Josh said, as a nation, but how reliant we are on computers in our everyday business and private lives, our nation's cyber systems become a tremendous target.

Today a small group of technically sophisticated people with nothing more than off-the-shelf computer equipment can get into, can disrupt the computers and the Internet connections on which our finance, telecommunications, power, water systems, emergency service systems all depend.

Is this speculation? No, it is not. In exercise eligible receiver, our Defense Department conducted a war game using this technique and came to just that conclusion. And terrorists, organized crime, drug cartels, as well as nation states are either creating cybertech capabilities or are talking about using them. I believe that cyberspace is the next battlefield for this nation.

Now, cyber terrorism may be a new issue to many Americans, but it's not new to me and it's not new to this administration. In 1995, our Attorney General asked me to chair a critical infrastructure working group that brought together Justice and Defense and the intelligence community to begin to address what we saw as a new and emerging threat. The President then appointed a commission on critical infrastructure protection whose advisory board I co-chaired.

In response to his commission's work, last year the President signed two directives -- to strengthen U.S. readiness to meet unconventional threats to our nation, and to protect our critical infrastructures. He appointed a national coordinator, Dick Clarke, to review and handle and coordinate security infrastructure protection and counterterrorism, and a national plan is under development to ensure that America can defend itself in cyberspace.

Now, as part of that national plan I hope that we can see action in a number of areas, three of which I see as particularly pressing. The first, both the public and private sectors need to be aware of the problem and the security measures that can be taken to address it. I'd like to see the private sector work with the federal government to make sure that we have enough people who are trained in computer security, which we do not now have.

More conflict of interest by Gorelick.... She met with Tenet regularly, and interviewed Tenet. She wrote the Chinese Wall document which prevented intelligence agencies from communicating... and sits on the commision as an interviewer rather than interviewee.

Now, it turns out she worked with Richard Clarke... and never disclosed it or recused herself!

They didn't just meet a few weeks ago.

The Clinton Justice Department also instituted a policy that airlines would be fined if more than 2 individuals of any ethnic group were required to go through secondary screening prior to boarding a flight. What was Jaime Gorelick's role in implementing this policy? We'll never know, because she's asking the questions instead of answering them.

ben Veniste defended his questioning of Ashcroft about the rumor that he (Ashcroft) refused to fly just before 9/11 by saying something to the effect that he (bV) wanted to avoid the rumor mongering that occurred after the Warren Commission released their report. Well, it looks like bV's got plenty of grist for the rumor mill in Gore-lick. Anyone think he'll ask Gore-lick to resign in order to keep the rumor mill from working overtime and destroying the credibility of the commission? Didn't think so.

"Gorelick also worked at DOD. Wonder what she did there?"

Considering she was General Counsel, I'm sure before any military decisions were made, they had to go through her. If you recall Clinton's bombing of Sudan and Afghanistan, a big deal was made about why he didn't inform the Joint Chiefs or his Principles. Far be it for me to defend Clinton, but this may have been one of the reasons.

It was becoming painfully obvious that the Clinton administration was becoming bogged down in legalese, whether at the DoJ or DoD. I always wondered were Clinton got the idea that he couldn't extradite UBL from the Sudan...or why when our Predator drones spotted OBL, military strikes weren't launched. These appear to all be things that would come under the control of Gorelick (or her associates) as they put lawyers at the top of the chain of command.

Gorelick also worked at DOD, on something called the Threat Reduction Advisory Committee. Does that sound like someone who was out of the loop, unimportant, just a figurehead...Wonder what she did at DOD?"

TRAC homepage: http://www.dtra.mil/about/organization/ab_asco_trac.html

The TRAC advises and assists the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics) on reduction of the threat to the United States and its allies from nuclear, biological, chemical (NBC), conventional and special weapons, sustainment of the the nuclear weapons deterrent, chemical and biological defense, counterproliferation, technology security, weapons effects and other matters related to the DTRA mission. The TRAC identifies and considers emerging Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Threats, reviews countermeasures to such threats and assesses the adequacy of DTRA and other programs' responses to national policy and emerging threats.

MORE INTERESTING:

http://www.dtra.mil/news/his_mat/osi/nw_unscom.html

On September 4, 1998, Secretary of Defense William Cohen designated the newly formed Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to assume executive agent duties from OSIA effective October 1, 1998. Among other duties, DTRA manages DOD's response to UNSCOM requests for inspection team personnel, technical experts, monitoring equipment, supplies and other support. DTRA has the authority, consistent with the UN Participation Act, Executive Order 10206 and applicable DOD directives, to direct DOD components to procure or provide personnel, services, facilities, supplies, equipment and other assistance from existing DOD stores.

It looks like she probably worked with Richard Clarke in getting the CIA to create that bizarre cartoon to close out the TWA800 explosion investigation.

DEEPER CIA LINK BY 9/11 PANELIST

How Richard Clarke concocted the TWA 800 'exit strategy'

TWA Flight 800, and the Gorelick connection

"...although Ramzi Yousef was on trial that very day in New York for his role in Operation Bojinka, there was no connection made between those plans and the destruction of the plane. Just the opposite. Richard Clarke, in fact, takes credit for suppressing the real evidence and discovering the preposterous "mechanical failure" thesis that the administration eventually made stick.

Although it is easy to blame the FBI for the shameful investigative breakdowns both in Oklahoma City and on Long Island, its agents did not subvert the investigations of their own accord. Their orders came from Washington. The responsibility for enforcing these orders fell to Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick, who served as the Soviet equivalent of the "political officer" within the Justice Department.

On Aug. 22, 1996 – five weeks after the crash of TWA 800 – Gorelick summoned the FBI's Jim Kallstrom to Washington to be served up a dose of survival reality. Kallstrom had been a good soldier. He had kept all talk of eyewitnesses and satellites and radar and missiles out the news. But the evidence had led him far away from mechanical failure, and there was no easy way to turn back.

To be sure, no account of the meeting provides any more than routine detail, but behaviors began to change immediately afterward, especially after the New York Times broke a headline story the next day, top right: "Prime Evidence Found That Device Exploded in Cabin of Flight 800." This article stole the thunder from Clinton's election-driven approval of welfare reform in that same day's paper and threatened to undermine the peace and prosperity message of next week's Democratic convention.

On that same Aug. 23, the Federal Aviation Administration began to inquire whether any explosives-training exercises had ever taken place on the plane that would become TWA 800. From that day forward, the FBI would do no more serious eyewitness interviews. On that same day, Kallstrom was now saying for the first time, "It was possible that the PETN could have been brought on the plane by a passenger and was not part of a bomb."

Jim Kallstrom was not the only one who had learned the hard way that there could be no terrorism in the summer of 1996. At the "feel good" Atlanta Olympics, the beleaguered security guard Richard Jewell, the poor soul who first spotted the Centennial Park bomb, was learning a harder lesson still.

Although Davis does not document Gorelick's role in Oklahoma City, media accounts routinely describe her as the director of the Oklahoma City task force, the so-called "field commander." As Davis has told me, someone in Washington called the FBI in Oklahoma City and issued a two-word directive on its investigation into Islamic terrorism: "Kill it."

If that person is not Jamie Gorelick, perhaps she could tell the 9-11 Commission who it is. By suppressing the truth in Oklahoma City, Long Island and Atlanta – and then burying it – the Clinton administration left America wide open on Sept. 11. Apologies are in order, but they will not be enough."

I hope we all remember it, the conclusion of this panel has been from the beginning to blame-Bush, but this Gorelick's contributions will qualify any conclusion they make. Sometime the best laid plans fall flat.

The Utterly Absolutely Disgraced 911 Commission [by their own choice]

BREAKING:
GOTTA SEE THIS - Who's Who on the 9/11 "Independent" Commission

"Do you really think you are gonna get to ask me why I dared refuse repeat DOJ requests for investigations of dangerous illegal aliens.
Do you really think you are gonna get to ask me why I arranged to stovepipe intelligence to make intraagency effective communication useless.
Do you really think you are gonna get to ask me why illegal aliens who were felons became voters for our Democratic party.
Do you really think you are gonna get to ask me why I OK'd the use of stolen FBI files on DNC computers.
Not a chance. Following LBJ, your gonads are in my fist and your FBI files are in my computer.
Now go away.
"

"Some wonder whether [Clinton] was distracted by the legal and
political quagmire of the Monica Lewinsky case.
And even former Clinton aides now regret that the
battle with bin Laden and his Al-Qaida organization was never fully joined.
'Clearly, not enough was done,' said Jamie Gorelick,
a former deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration.
'We should have caught this. Why this happened, I don't know.
Responsibilities were given out. Resources were given. Authorities existed.
We should have prevented this.
'

BREAKING: Gorelick (put on the Committee by Daschle)
not only created the background for the 911 Atrocities but now is covering it up
for the terrorists. Gorelick is a litigation partner of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering.
which represents Prince Mohammed al-Faisal al-Saud, the House of Saud,
against a lawsuit filed by a coalition of 600 Sept. 11 families.

BREAKING: TWA800

On Aug. 22, 1996, just before the Democratic National Convention,
Ms. Gorelick oversaw a critical Justice Department meeting with the FBI.
mmediately after this meeting, as it happened,
all serious inquiry into the fate of TWA 800 came to an end.

Gorelick was instrumental in the corruption of TWA Flight 800 terrorism investigation
Did Clinton appointee corrupt Flight 800 probe?

Bin Mahfouz is suspected to have funneled millions of dollars to the Al

Now, "by sheer coincidence", former New Jersey governor Thomas
Kean, the man chosen by President Bush to lead the 9/11 commission
also has business ties with bin Mahfouz and Al-Amoudi.
Thomas Kean is a director (and shareholder) of Amerada Hess

According to an article in yesterday's American Spectator, Ms. Gorelick also............

prepped her former boss, Janet Reno, for Reno's appearance before the commission on which Gorelick sat, and..........

even though Gorelick obstensively recused herself from questioning Reno at that hearing.......

she handed her questions to Slade Gorton and HE asked Reno those questions.

(I have emailed this info to Brit Hume at Special@foxnews.com.)

The 9/11 commission has revealed itself to be nothing more than a bunch of political hacks endeavoring to destroy the President.

Tom Kean has become the facilitator of that plan in his determination to pander to the 'families'.

IMHO, these families have become very much like a crime family, destroying all who would stand in their way of attacking the President.

No way this is bad news.

We need to isse the same outcry the leftists had for Condi Rice to publicly testify for Gorelicker to get on TV and explain how she was single-handedly responsible for nearly every terrorist attack on US soil for the past 10 years.

There are lots of innocent, dead bodies in the wake of her stupid policies and cover-ups.

I say let her stay on the commission.

We should WANT the end report to be tainted. If anyone thinks a commission stocked with liberals, Dems, anti-Americans, Marxists, RINOS and has-been geriatric basket-cases is going to issue a report that is favorable to our side, they're crazy.

It's to be fervently hoped that we keep pounding away to destroy Goronlick's credibility but keep praying that she refuses to resign.

Think, people, think!

In May 1995, the Washington Post reported, "Deputy Attorney General Jamie S. Gorelick yesterday said the Clinton administration planned to drop its proposal to give the president absolute power to designate groups as terrorist organizations."

At issue was the Clinton administration's proposed counterterrorism legislation that would prohibit Americans from raising funds to support groups classified by the president as terrorist organizations. The original bill would not have allowed court challenges to the president's designations.

In her testimony before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime Gorelick said, "We will recommend deletion of the assertions in that bill that the president's designations are unreviewable or conclusive."

Gorelick told reporters at the time that criticism from civil liberties groups convinced administration officials that the ban on court challenges was not necessary.

the deputy attorney general was assigned to Clinton's Citizenship USA program. Former Justice Department investigator David Schippers wrote in his 1999 book, "Sell Out" that it was Gorelick's task to expedite new rules under which criminal background checks were suspended for new immigrants.

The American Spectator quotes a Republican staffer saying, "[Gorelick] knows better than anyone about what was going on at Justice in the later days of the Clinton Administration. She had close ties there."

The staffer added, "In closed-door meetings, she has defended the Clinton people. How can they claim that Ashcroft and his people could do much of anything six weeks into moving into the building?"

"Gorelick should be testifying during these hearings; she should not be up there creating the appearance she played no role in what happened on 9/11, because she definitely did," says the staffer. "The Clinton folks had eight years to do something about Bin Laden. They did nothing. The Bush people had eight months. You'd think judging by the hearings that it was the other way around."
