Basically a waste of time as

1) We're NOT going to be invading and overthrowing the government of Syria and then looking for WMDs. Anyone who thinks we are is delusional (heck, I'd be willing to wager with people on that one, as I suspect there are a lot of people allowing their fantasies to get ahead of what the administration is likely to do) and

2) Syria has had it's own chemical weapons program for many, many, many years and even if one was poking around Syria looking for WMDs, it would be difficult or even impossible to determine their origin in many cases.

I guess you can say I'm just skeptical of any news that comes from the Middle East supporting any of these dictatorships.

Can't see Jordan as a target for Al Queda either.

You assume I'm Western because I ask a legitimate question.
That's cute.

"Can't see Jordan as a target for Al Queda either."

The government of Jordan has been a "loose" ally of the US dating back to the first Gulf War. The following may help shed light on why Al Quaeda would want to attack Jordan government and military targets (and an American Embassy there):

In January [2003], Jordan received six U.S. F-16s to strengthen its defense, and has been promised up to 11 more. Additionally, anywhere between "several hundred" and 2,000 U.S. troops are currently stationed in Jordan to operate newly delivered Patriot anti-missile systems and coordinate search-and-rescue missions in Iraq. In October 2002, 1,000 U.S. soldiers began to train in the Jordanian desert with other troops from the region. Jordan's position this time around varies greatly from the neutral position it held in the 1991 Gulf War. And while King Abdullah has refused to directly assist the United States if it invades Iraq, indications point to Jordan's active support for the United States thus far being rewarded with additional military assistance. Jordan received $350 million in U.S. military aid in FY 02 and has been promised an increase of $100 million this year. Jordan has requested up to $1 billion in aid to defray the cost of a potential flood of Iraqi refugees.

Also:

Egypt has also asked for a free-trade deal similar to the one Jordan negotiated with the United States after actively supporting U.S. efforts in Afghanistan.

If they had the capability to do this, why Jordan and not Iraq?

1. Jordan's got a tiht relationship with israel the Islamicists don't like;

2. Jordan is helping the US in the War on Terror

3. Jordan is not the ideal sort of islamic state al Qaeda would like and al Qaeda would like to topple its government

4. Jordan was also targetted in the Millenium Plot of Dec 1999- part of the same multipronged attack as Ressam, the guy who was caught crossing into the US from Canada with explosives intended for use at LAX airport. The targets in Jordan included an airport as well as a hotel frequented by Americans

5. Jordan is the country in which US diplomat Foley was assassinated just prior to the war by terrorists linked to Zarqawi

6. Jordan is the country in which al Qaeda terrorists had already planned to carry out a poison attack against a military base

etc, etc...

Targetting things in Jordan is nothing new- it's been going on since the first gulf war.

Aside from some playing both sides of the fence, the Jordanian king and his military are fairly pro-US. They opened their territory to our special operators prior to and during the invasion of Iraq. They have in the past cooperated with the Israelis on some issues. The present king probably speaks better english than he does arabic, and of course his wife and mother certainly do.

The king and his army would be a logical target for Al Qaeda. Proximity to Syria makes them a relatively easy one, too.

Yes, and the current Queen is Palestinian and supports terrorists.
Add to that Queen Whore wrote a ridiculous anti-US autobiography not long after her sons were passed over for the throne Her husband, King Hussein went to great lenghts to seperate himself from his violent past and be a moderate.

If anything, you'd think that if AQ had these, they were using Jordan to move it, while Jordan turned a blind eye, and got caught.

By the way. Where are Hussein's two daughters hiding out?

Isn't Jordan one of the countries where The Passion was allowed to be shown?

I think so. There have also been several American movies made in Jordan such as Indiana Jones and Holy Grail and The Return of the Mummy.

I don't assume anything. I don't care what you are, if you expect radical Islamics to make your kind of sense you'll have a long wait.

And, thank you, I am cute.
