Kerry: My Vietnam Med Records Already Public
NewsMax.com ^ | 4/18/04 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

Posted on 04/18/2004 2:16:48 PM PDT by kattracks

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry claimed on Sunday that he's already released his medical records, including those that would prove he deserved three Purple Hearts in Vietnam - though reporters have been clamoring for weeks for Kerry to make the documents public.

Asked if he would "agree to release all your military records," Kerry told NBC's "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert, "I have. I've shown them."

In the next breath, however, Kerry pulled back from the claim that he had publicly released his Vietnam records, telling Russert, "They're available to you to come and look at. . . People can come and see them at headquarters and take a look at them."

Moments later Kerry seemed to suggest that he would not publicly release copies of the records to the press, saying, "I'm not going to . . . , " before changing the subject in mid-sentence.

The top Democrat insisted that the records would show he deserved his first Purple Heart, a decoration that has been questioned by his former commanding officer.

"The medical records show that I had shrapnel removed from my arm," he claimed. "We were in combat. We were in a very, very - probably one of the most frightening - if you ask anybody who was with me, the two guys who were with me, was probably the most frightening night that they had that they were in Vietnam."

However, Kerry's former commander, Grant Hibbard, told the Boston Globe earlier this week that Kerry's wound was no worse than "a fingernail scratch" and that there were widespread doubts in his office that Kerry's unit had taken any enemy fire whatsoever.

Vintage Kerry:

Flip 1: "I have. I've shown [medical records] them."

Flop 2: "They're available to you to come and look at. . . People can come and see them at headquarters and take a look at them."

Or is it nuance john?

Flip 3: "I'm not going to . . . , " before changing the subject in mid-sentence.

Mr. King of the flip-flops.

The full uncensored military records will be released at the time as Mrs. Kerry's tax records, Jamie Goreleck's central testimony before the 9-11 commission, and when pro-life democrats are allowed to speak before the Democratic Convention.

Another big Kerry lie.

He said, people can come to headquarters and look at them there -- sure, he will show them what he wants to show them.

What is in those records that he is so afraid to release?

Of course nobody would even be interested, if he didn't make his 4 months serivce in combat in Vietnam the centerpiece of his candidacy.

Maybe there are NO medical records because he had no medical incidents to justify ANY purple hearts. Unless we're shown evidence to the contrary, we should credit this guy only with what's publicly known. I'm really going to believe his campaign's paid workers on his bravery! NOT!

Big Phony Ketchup Boy has made his 120 or so days in Vietnam so central to his pathetic subsequent life and to his dreadful political campaign.

The fact that so much is intentionally hidden about his record stinks like a dead raccoon decomposing under the crawl space.

We have to assume that if the injuries were bad enough to require him to stay in the hospital a major amount of time that the Ketchup king would have filmed documentation of it. I am amazed he didn't have a camera there when the purple hearts were supposedly earned.

Yet another opportunity missed. It would have been better as:

RUSSERT: Senator Kerry, as you are aware, President Bush released to the public the records of his full military service, approximately 450 pages. Will you today, on this program, commit to the same level of disclosure of your full military record as the President has done?

KERRY: Tim, yes. Those records can be reviewed at my campaign headquarters.

RUSSERT: Senator, I meant by public release the same process that the President used, one not requiring a visit to your headquarters. Will you do that within the next week to ten days?

KERRY: Tim, well ...

Ain't that the truth. His entire campaign (and existence) orbits around four months of his life from 35 years ago. First, he uses it as an 'Are you questioning my patriotism?' shield to deflect attention away from his grotesque congressional voting record, then he hides it like a an ugly girlfriend that he doesn't want his family to meet. He knows that at this point, if his full record were divulged, it would be a monumental embarassment. Like him.

His entire campaign (and existence) is grounded in complete fraud. His only talent is as a sycophant and seducer of rich women.

Not merely a corrupt traitor, boring arrogant narcisstist and complete charlatan, Kerry is a pathetic excuse for a human being.

Any Freepers want to volunteer to go by Kerry's headquarters tomorrow and ask to take a look at them? His national headquarters are at 901 15th Street, NW, Suite 700 Washington, DC 20005

Of course, if you show up at his national headquarters they will probably say you have to go to one of his other campaign offices. To be safe, someone should go by each of them. Here is a list.

What combat? Firing on a sampan that never fired a shot. As usual, Kerry's own comments contradict what he told Russert. Insight Magazine article excerpt:

According to Kerry's own description in Douglas Brinkley's Tour of Duty, the Dec. 2, 1968, mission behind what he has claimed to be his first Purple Heart was "a half-assed action that hardly qualified as combat." Indeed. Kerry was stationed with Coastal Division 14 at Cam Ranh Bay. At that time he piloted a small foam-filled boat, known as a Boston Whaler, with two enlisted men in the darkness of early morning. The intent, apparently, was to patrol an area that was known for contraband trafficking, but it was an undocumented mission. Upon approaching the objective point, the crew noticed a sampan crossing the river. As it pulled to shore, Kerry and his little team opened fire, destroying the boat and whatever its cargo might have been.

Whatever shrapnel wound he received, it was more than likely from his own weapon. And for that he requests a Purple Heart? What bravery!!

Not to make excuses for Kerry, but wouldn't all that be in his service record? I don't know about officers, but as an enlisted, when I was discharged all I got was a DD214. I never received a copy of my service record or any medical info.

I never received any medals other than the standard stuff everyone got and my one wound was a broken nose while off duty. Maybe someone here who received medals similar to Kerry's or had medical treatment while in the service could shed some light here.

What I'm saying is I think that unless Kerry went through some process to get his records, I don't think he has anything in his possession that would help anyone get to the facts.

It would be interesting to know which commanding officer
actually put him up for all these medals, to read the
detailed write-up which officers did about all the
battles and skirmishes of the day. I have been amazed at
the detailed reports done by the WWII officers about the
exploits of their men and descriptions of the battles
involved, under even more grueling conditions than John
Kerry ever imagined in his wildest dreams in Vietnam.
These reports are SOMEWHERE, and they should be under
public record by this time.

Yes, indeed, it would be very interesting to see the copies of the recommendation for decoration along with the name of the officer who wrote and those who approved it. I suspect that he wrote it and somehow slipped it in to one of his buddies in personnel for a quick signature.

"Asked if he would "agree to release all your military records," Kerry told NBC's "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert, "I have. I've shown them."

Are all liberals incapable of understanding plain English? Russert asked if he would "release" the records. Everyone knows what that means. He asked if he would release the records to the public.

Kerry, of course, wants to turn common sense on its head and insist that, in the context of this conversation, what Russert really means by "release the records" has nothing to do with actually releasing them to the public.

The liar spins and says that "he has," meaning that the records have been released to the public, then goes on to qualify that lie with another - that people have or will be able to look at them.

Liberals are so smarmy and greasy it staggers the imagination.

The Presdential television debates are on the horizon, and we must be diligent in making sure CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNNBC,etc. do not give Kerry a bigger part of the t.v. screen, than Bush. I remember something about them doing that in the past...shortchanging the Republican candidate out of equal t.v. screen coverage during a debate.
