Albania May Send More Troops to Iraq

Albania, a predominantly Muslim country, told the United States it was prepared to send more non-combat troops to Iraq (news - web sites), the government said Monday, in a possible expansion of the 71-member-strong contingent patrolling the northern city of Mosul under U.S. command.

Despite the small number of Albanian forces, the public commitment from Tirana was bound to be welcome news to the United States after Spain's weekend announcement that it was withdrawing its 1,300-member contingent as soon as possible.

Albanian Foreign Minister Kastriot Islami made the offer Friday in a letter to Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites).

The statement did not say what the increase would be. But earlier this month the defense ministry said it was considering increasing its commitment to 200 soldiers, despite the recent terrorist attacks against members of the U.S.-led coalition.

"We have expressed our readiness to positively respond to the request for additional forces and we are working to set the practical details to achieve that," the minister was quoted as telling Powell.

Albania was one of the most vocal backers of the U.S.-led war in Iraq. Although it was unable to provide significant military support, it opened its airspace and offered U.S.-led forces the use of its bases.

From just a few weeks ago...

DRUG TRAFFICKING FROM ALBANIA DISCOVERED BY POLICE (AGI) – Brindisi, April 6 – Brindisi tax police and police discovered a huge drug trafficking from Albania. Traffickers had also links with the Netherlands and Northern Italy. Police has intercepted about 22 kilos of heroin and cocaine starting from August. Last Saturday five Albanians were arrested near Lecce with about 10 kilos of heroin. Investigators think they have discovered a drug trafficking starting from Albania that passes through Puglia and is directed to Northern Italy (Milan and Liguria) and to the Netherlands.

You could probably eliminate 90% of European crime by nuking Albania.

Perhaps instead of dividing Kosovo, Albania should be divided along the Gheg and Tosk fault line in order to permanently stabilize the Balkans by 2016.

1. Northern Epirus become crime free and prosperous zone capable to cooperate with Greece, due to large nuber of Ethnic Greeks who live in Albania. Also, Christian Albanians will escape the terror of Berisha Islamonazis from Northern Albania and Kosovo. Business and tourism would boom, easilly to $10000 per capita. Albanian capital from abroad would be safe to invest there.

2. Once the evil is contained in Northern ALbania, it becomes easier to menage.

3. Partition of Kosovo to 2 NATO zones offer Albanians an option, to migrate to lawless Islamonazi infested North Albania, or remain in NATO controlled Southern Kosovo.

Metochia and Northern Kosovo remain under NATO supervision, but with 250,000 Serbs returning home. It opens a market and revitalizes economy.

Albanians will have the choice, to live as civilized people in Soutern Kosovo, Northern Kosovo, migrate to Southern Albania or behave as savages and migrate to Norther Albania.

Savages would get Norther Albania, guarded by NATO FROM THE OUTSIDE.

In 2016, Southern ALbania, Kosovo and Serbia join the EU together.

Northern Albania remains permanently out. Until the Kanun of Lek finish them all for good.

Such plan would generate prosperity and billions of profit and avert the loss of human lives, except among islamonazi thugs and terrorists.

It would be win-win-win solution, win for Greece, win for Orthodox and RC Albanians, win for Serbs.

For Berisha and his scum, well, they finally have to pay bill.

You know. It REALLY is a significant screw-up to deal with these people thinking they're on your side, they'll take your back as you take theirs, etc.

Yes, and those seizures were largely symbolic for the edification of others. The amounts passing through that are never touched, because THEY ARE PROTECTED BY THE ALBANIAN GOVERNMENT AMONG OTHERS, are staggering.

Serb mistreatment? Albanians in Kosovo had more rights than any minority in any country! Attack on State forces is not terrorism? KLA had uniforms, guns, and in 2001 was attacking police and military in Serbia proper! if you remember they were on USA list as terrorist organization in 98! When they became TMK or KPC under UNMIK, they blowed up a bridge in Northern Kosovo and one of them died. So please, don't speak about Serbian mistreatment, when they continued doing the same thing before KFOR and UN. In last March violence do you know what role of KPC was? Since they are in charge to respond during emergences (earthquake, floods, fire), they were putting fire "out" with gasoline! They were showing up with "water" tanks before Serbian houses, and instead of using water they were using gasoline!
They are TERRORISTS!!!!
Trained in camps in Albania by Osama's people. I know that you are aware that Osama himself has visited Albania in 97.
Hmmm, I wonder why?

Divide et impera, is that it DTA?

I've told you this before and I will keep repeating it, the persecution of Christian Albanians (such as myself) from Muslim Albanians is nonexistent. It is something made up and used by the likes of the people on this forum for propaganda. Northern Albanians are not more uncivilized than Southern Albanians (such as myself) as you so vehemently keep claiming. And most Orthodox Albanians (such as myself) would rather live in the same state with our Muslim ethnic kin than with Greek Orthodox chauvinism (with all due respect to the many great Greek Orthodox people I have the pleasure of being acquainted with).

If you want to stabilize the Balkans I suggest you look just north of Kosova, for that is where the trouble that destabilized the Balkans started and there is where it must end.

The Orthodox Albanians are in the south. Clearly, they've chosen to stay far away from their vicious KLA brethern.

Also, check your spelling; there is no such place on earth as Kosova.

There is only Kosovo-Metohija.

Blah, blah, blah...

Orthodox Albanians are in the south because historically this area has been closer to Greece/Byzantium and the northern part has been closer to Rome/Venice.

>>>There is only Kosovo-Metohija.

I believe a 12-step program might be in order. The first step is to recognize you're in denial.

The first step is to recognize you're in denial.

There is no denial in recognizing that the West has now realized the true nature of the Albanian pogrom that has attempted to deprive all others of their homes and/or their lives in Kosovo!

Deny this! LOL!

Kosova is not unlike its neighbour up north in that there is a struggle between moderates and extremists. The difference is that in Kosova the extremists are neither in the majority nor in power.

Thank you for admitting that it is not just a radical minority creating the problems in Kosovo-Metohija but with the Albanian majority itself.

Peace, law, and order can only return to Kosovo alongside the Serbian Army.

And this will happen in our lifetime.
