I freepmailed to find out where I could help.

I also, went to www.hanes.com, and sent this message to them:

Hi, I was recently surfing the Internet and came upon an article requesting help for wounded soldiers in the Middle East. In the article, the wives of some of the soldiers indicated that the injured service men and woman are in desperate need of underwear (among other things).

In the article, the posters are collecting goods such as razors, toiletries, comfort foods for our heroes.

I noticed there was a pointed comment that the men and woman have a serious need for fresh under clothing. Now, we can do a lot and we will, but Hanes, .... you could solve that little problem. In the big complicated business of fighting for freedom, perhaps we overlook the little things.

I know you have a huge marketing department and every good deed has to be considered but if a pallet or two (or a dozen) of your great product were to find it's way to the these men (and women) who need us now, it would do a lot of good.

Thank-you for your consideration.

Not all letters need to be complaints.

Slippers/FlipFlop type of things

Have you tried following John Kerry around? He's got a new flip flop every few hours, you've got to wonder what he's done with the ones he just used...

Seriously, Freep Mail me the address, I'll get some razors.

Hey BG!

This is a BIG one to me..
We are without a lot of extra $$$ here at our house (But, wait, republicans are supposed to be rich...right??) So, we contacted some of our local dentists and they are HAPPY to donate! Our own Denist office receptionist LOVES DAN and the Dentist went to High School with him.
They ARE NOT big supporters of the war in general but SO HAPPY to make a donation!
Now these are people that I can AGREE TO DISAGREE WITH! (little tiny ack)

Call your dentists! They have all the "little" stuff!

We also e-mailed CREST AND COLGATE...we will see where that goes...so, I am saving my $$$ to spend on the shipping of the donations! I am sure the donations will be much more than I would have been able to buy with my $$$

Thanks for taking up the cause BG!

GOD BLESS YOU! (again)

I am here in Baghdad and visited the hospital today. Our people are doing well. The items you are requesting are small in nature but go an extra ten miles in making our people comfortable under the circumstances. I sincerely appreciate all the prayers out there and on hehalf of those who can not express their gratitude I humbly say thank you.

God bless you all and God bless our country.

Here is the article I found on Sgt Lawson when I did a google search.
His name had been given to me so I could send him mail. I sent a letter and six months later I got it back with "Medivac" written across the front. Needless to say, I was stunned---but glad to find an address where I could send a donation to help him and his family.
Maybe we could get more Freepers to send a donation to his fund. How about bumping this post, OK??
Thanks
BB

"Price Of Iraqi Freedom Is Very High For Local Family
Beth Lawson Says Her Husband Was Paralyzed In Iraq

POSTED: 5:40 p.m. PDT April 22, 2003
UPDATED: 6:55 p.m. PDT April 22, 2003

SAN DIEGO -- A Camp Pendleton wife recently received word that her husband was among the hundreds of American soldiers, Marines and sailors who were wounded or injured in the war in Iraq.

The news Beth Lawson got was devastating: Her husband is now paralyzed from the waist down.

Lawson said her husband, Marine Sgt. Eric Lawson, is a good example of the sacrifices being made by the men and women overseas, and that he is recovering at a hospital in Germany.

Beth works as a medical assistant, so she knows that Eric has a long road ahead of him.

She said he was shot in the stomach and the bullet hit his spine and that he will never be able to walk again.

Eric was injured after the fall of Baghdad, which, in retrospect, is painfully ironic for Beth, because she remembers watching the statue of Saddam toppling on TV and thinking that Eric would be home soon.

She's trying to stay positive.

"It'll be a new way of life for us," said Beth. "But he's coming home. He can still be a dad to our son, and my husband, my best friend."

Beth says her husband has had several surgeries already and expected him to be transferred to Bethesda Naval Hospital by the end of the week.

She said that she was trying to figure out a way to see him as soon as possible.

Donations to the Lawson family may be sent to: Navy Federal Credit Union

Merrifield, VA 22119-3100
