Yes she was, may she rest in peace. A true NYer too I might add.

She was a fine lady! Worked for 3 of her companies and met her son Leonard in the 1980s.

We need MORE people like this. She was a whiner. She made it on HER OWN EFFORT - against the odds.

Take a lesson from this Willie Green!

She created my mama's favorite perfume, "Youth Dew." She's been wearing it for well over 30 years.

Ninety-five years. That's a long life. Go easy, ma'am.

Uh, I think you meant "winner." But I understand. ;-)

what an awesome story... especially the part about realizing she had had the sweetest husband in the world...

when i was in my early to mid 20's--single and career-oriented, i used to buy my mascara from Estee Lauder... in my mid twenties i purchased my first house and decided i needed to cut back on certain luxuries (like Estee Lauder)... i thought that good ol' drugstore quality mascara would be just as good but less expensive... boy, i was so wrong... it took me awhile to get used to the less plush eyelashes i got from Estee Lauder...

when i married, and my husband and i were typical yuppies working up the salary brackets, i went back to Estee Lauder mascara... and then had to go back to the drugstore genre when we adopted our two boys and i became a "stay home mommy."

I love waterproof Maybelline Lash Expansion. I use to only buy Lancome, but this is every bit as good.

I don't even venture out of the house to raise the flag in the morning without a quick spritz of Cinnibar!

How you ever read her life story? That gal, who started out pretty much from nothing, was not only a natural born salesman but the _______ of a brass monkey as well. Her's was an incredible.

Just an off-the-wall idea - if John Kerry loses the election, he could be a "spokesmodel" for one of those cosmetics chains, or do infomercials and ads for botox.
