The Kosovo We Don't Know
The Rant ^ | Tony Rubolotta

Posted on 04/29/2004 5:49:43 PM PDT by Americathy

The recent killing of two Americans by a Jordanian, all serving with the UN police force (UNMIK) in Kosovo has temporarily brought the region to the front page, where the major media quickly linked the incident to Iraq, and then dropped Kosovo back into obscurity. The fact is things are not going well in Kosovo and the major media has several reasons for keeping the covers on the story.

What most Americans know about Kosovo is what Bill Clinton and his media cheering section told them in 1999. It was reported that Christian Serbs were engaged in a massive campaign of ethnic cleansing against Muslim Albanians. "Evidence" of a massacre in Racak was presented to back the claim. With popular, political and media support solidifying behind him, Clinton gave Serbia an ultimatum. Serbia refused, Clinton bombed, NATO occupied, the media reported and Hollywood even produced a few movies to further demonize the Serbs and fuel the propaganda.

With little or no news coming out of Kosovo now, we must assume that thanks to Bill Clinton, Kosovo is a thriving, peaceful democracy protecting the rights of all religious groups. Well, that's about as big a lie as what we were told about Kosovo in the first place. The Racak massacre was the breaking point Clinton used to rally support for the war. With hundreds of published articles about Racak, what do we really know about the "massacre"?

We know Serb forces engaged and defeated KLA forces in Racak in a classic firefight, an event witnessed by French and AP news crew on January 15. We don't know how many casualties were inflicted. The Serbs and news crew left and the KLA resumed control of Racak. The following day 45 bodies were found in a gully with the help of KLA guides. Forty victims were autopsied by a Finnish forensic team dispatched by the EU. The EU report refuted claims the victims were all shot at close range and mutilated. The report never used the word massacre and only found one victim shot at close range, maybe.

The Washington Post, claiming to have the EU report findings leaked by an "unidentified western source" wrote a story that misrepresented and extrapolated the findings. The Post claimed the forensic evidence proved the victims were executed in a massacre, which it did not. The head of the EU forensic team refuted the story. The AP and USA Today, not to be outdone by the Post, added detail and gore that was never proven. In contrast, Le Monde, with journalists at the scene, questioned the credibility of the entire scenario. They raised questions any good investigator should have asked, but were never answered.

With hundreds of articles on Racak, it doesn't take long to determine that most are biased one way or the other. Articles that stick to the facts are very short and few, because the facts are short and few. In the end, the evidentiary requirement we use to convict criminals, "beyond a reasonable doubt," was never met for Racak. None the less, the United States and NATO were going to war over an alleged, unproven and potentially staged massacre of 45 people.

Kosovo was having a civil war with about 2,000 casualties per year, about equally divided between the warring factions. What most Americans don't know is that the struggle dates back to 1389 when the Muslim Turks defeated the Christian Serbs and occupied Kosovo. Control of Kosovo has seesawed for 600 years, but it has been largely a history of persecuting Christians, first under the Turks and later by their Albanian successors. Atrocities occur during civil wars, but the scale of this war was a tempest in a teapot compared to other conflicts in the world.

What was the calculation and motivation for US involvement in the affairs of Serbia?

The calculation was simple. Bombing a Christian nation could be done with relative impunity. There would be no "Christian" outrage as there might be in the Muslim world if Serbia were Muslim. War on Serbia would endear us to Muslims for intervening on behalf of a Muslim cause. Milosovic was not that popular in Serbia and his support would melt away under pressure. Serbia, a moderately developed country, would provide a "target rich" environment. The Serbs, proud and protective of their culture, would submit to prevent its destruction. Popular support in the US and Europe would survive a short and apparently bloodless campaign.

Serbia was bombed and surrendered. Clinton claimed victory. NATO occupation forces moved in. The UN police force took their positions. Milosovic was put on trial. All was well in Kosovo and it dropped from the radar screen. Clinton's legacy as a champion of human rights, influential diplomat and great wartime president was secured. In fact, it was only secure as long as no one knew what was happening in Kosovo, hence the news blackout by the major media in the US and most, but not all of Europe.

The Kosovo civil war continues, but this time the Albanian Muslims have the upper hand and the NATO/UNMIK forces appear incapable of intervention. Serbian Christians are being killed and driven from Kosovo. Christian churches and monasteries are being systematically destroyed. Kosovo, like Albania and Bosnia is being turned into an Islamic terrorist base. Crime is rampant and the economy, except for the drug-trade, is stagnant. Kosovo is moving toward independence as a Muslim state with plans for eventual union with Albania. Investigation of Serb atrocities by the Hague War Crimes Tribunal have found the claims greatly exaggerated or non-existent. Kosovo will be a thorn in the side of Europe and the US as Muslim gratitude takes its usual turn toward hostility. The infidels served their purpose and are no longer useful.

And the motive for intervention in Kosovo? I don't think you have to look any further than the character of Bill Clinton and his media buddies.

Good article. It comes as close to a summation of the facts as I have been able to discern them.

The one important fact that is not mentioned is that NATO violated its charter by entering the war. The NATO charter specifically forbids its entry into the internal affair of another nation. The charter also states that it is strictly for defensive purposes.

Didn't Clinton claim there were 100,000 in a mass grave or some such tripe?

In fact, before the war the Clinton State Department publicly claimed that there 500,000 massacred Albanians. The estimate was lowered to 100,000 in a public announcement by WIllam Cohen as the 78-day bombing campaign was ending.

Bill Clinton, Madeline NotSoBrite, and the Dem lefties could care less.
Bosnia and Kosovo are a very deep and complex subject dating back centuries that Westerners have a hard time comprehending.
People that are more versed should have been consulted before the U.S. and NATO's involvement.
For reasons unknown, Bosnia and Kosovo had more import than Rwanda where 500,000. to one Million souls were slaughtered!

That's ok, wait till they feel like they have won Kosovo and move on to the next expansionist territory. Eventually even the most clueless euro is going to get it.

Hope it's not too late.

It is a fascinating subject Americathy so your feelings are understandable. As for links about Kosovo, talk to the following freepers Destro, DTA, joan, Marmema as they are regular posters on this subject and I'm sure have many links for you. There are many other that I didn't mention (sorry to those). Otherwise do a search on Freerepublic and you will find hundreds of articles that have been posted here over the years.

I usually post articles from The Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research, an organisation that has excellent analyses written by people that have been to these places and worked with the people there throughout the 90's at www.transnational.org. They also have links on the website to information on the whole area. Good Luck! :)

What is this monument inscribed in Arabic script doing in Bosnia? What is it doing in the Western media declared "Heart of Europe?" None of the peoples of ex-Yugoslavia speak or understand Arabic. None. None of the Bosnian Muslims with exception of maybe a tiny minority of Islam clergy understands Arabic. So, for whom was this monument erected? The only answer to the puzzle could be the fact that round 10,000 foreign volunteers, jihad fighters, fought against the Christian population of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Most of these Islamic fanatics, members of Al Qaeda, came from Arab speaking countries.

I am surprised that cyber-Americans are not familiar with the topic. My Polish book http://www.gavagai.pl/nato/ is full of English-language references at the end of each chapter. Please feel free to browse. The American material, besides German and some French, are the best sources. In retrospect, I must say, the Serbian material I used turned out to be true as well.

We are as guilty of the shameful developments in the world as are the globalist forces and their media - by not educating ourselves and relying on propaganda they designed to make us approve.

Rubolotta’s short article can’t say everything. For decades, Slovenian nationalists, Croat neo-Nazis, Albanian extremists, “US” globalists; and German-French power mongers supported global Islamists in a systematic campaign of demonisation of Serbs. The propaganda, broadcast against professional ethics by Western media, fooled the public and decision makers alike.

Before the Racak “massacre”, equally obvious hoaxes concerned Serb “death” and “rape” camps, Srebrenica “massacre”, “destruction” of Dubrovnik, and other nonsense. The hoaxes justified illegal “international” actions and drew public attention away from atrocities that ethnically cleansed and exterminated several hundred thousand Serbs in Krajina and Western Slavonia (both in today’s Croatia) and Kosovo. Serbia-Montenergo is the single European country with close to a million refugees, without any aid to speak about. To see the impossibility of drawing borders around mono-ethnic Balkan states, see for example

NATO attack on Yugoslavia, March – June, 1999, violated all NATO countries’ constitutions. NATO used illegal weapons in its attack: uranium weapons of several types (not only the known anti-armour bullets), graphite webs against power systems, cluster bombs that become mines when not exploded, and pollution from chemical plants bombed. NATO deliberately bombed civilians and civilian infrastructure, yet its supreme commander, General Wesley Clark, a war criminal, is running for US president.

By siding with the globalists and Islamists (to whom US President is just a pawn), and by perpetrating common anti-Serb lies, many groups, such as AI, Doctors Without Borders, Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, and HRW showed corruption and fascist colours.

Pogroms of Kosovo Serbs by Albanians in March 17 – 19, 2004, killed 19 (UNMIK) to over 30 people (Serbian Church in Kosovo) and destroyed hundreds of homes, community buildings (incl. hospitals and schools), 36 churches and monasteries, and dozens of cemeteries. Unhindered, the mobs looted homes and holy places.

Prior knowledge of plans for pogroms, and the “inability” of the German, French, and partly US forces in Kosovo to prevent or stop them, tell volumes about NATO and UN, the two entities responsible for peace and order in Kosovo under UN Resolution 1244. If a casual traveller in Kosovo a year ago, I noticed preparations for a major Albanian offensive against the Serbs, it is impossible that the authorities did not.

The pogroms “were triggered” by a drowning of Albanian children (supposedly by Serbs, which has been refuted by a UN investigation). Western media are complicit in this lie. A well-documented case exists against BBC. Silence and misrepresentations about the pogroms announce globalist-Islamist “business as usual” in the Balkans.

One drowned child is the son of a known Kosovo terrorist, Kadri Veseli. This would not be the first case of Islamist sacrifice of their own people for a higher goal. Sarajevo market bombardments are the best known other cases. On March 11, 2004, UN police disarmed a bomb planted by Albanian extremists at an Albanian school, to cause fire and trigger “demonstrations”.

Just before the pogroms, Hashim Thachi, a Kosovo terrorist leader wanted by Interpol, was visiting the US Department of State and some lobbyists who gathered at the house of David Philips of the New York International Relations Council. The State Department praised Thachi for his democratic accomplishments. With the latter, Thachi discussed the attacks will start on the first available pretext and media will play a role (Serb daily Blic, 25 March 2004).

For information on the Kosovo dilemma, see excellent press bulletins at http://www.kosovo.com/erpkiminfo.html

Most Americans DONT know about the horrific shooting of Americans on April 17th. My roommate was one of those Americans shot on April 17th and is now back stateside. When she tells people whats wrong with her..."I was Shot in Kosovo" No one really believes her because they didn't see it on the News....front page etc. It SHOULD have been there. I will tell you, because it concerned me...I was GLUED to the TV for 5 days with her family awaiting her return, and to get news of the event. I vaguely had coverage for 2 days on like 30 second news segments on CNN and Fox...then it was nipped. We asked a local channel to cover (before she came home) and as they researched it they said CNN has all rights to that story...notice how CNN didn't cover much after that. How much money I wonder did the UN pay to surpress their secret! I can answer many factual questions if you want to know...but she really isn't allowed to talk about it. It was DEFINATELY suppressed news... I think UN covered it up because THEY are responsible. They let a Palestinian Hamas terrorist come in as a Jordanian and kill Americans. How else would he have gotten that specific post...after only being with the UN a few days before the Americans arrived...and in a Leadership position at that.....there is some news for ya....
The truth may never come out. And that really sucks! The whole "U.N." investigation didn't turn up crap...'said the dude acted on his own accord...bull! Can you believe that! I pray for Justice someday. But very doubtful
