"Reason? Very simple: No cameras."

Yea, the same reason Sheila Jackson Lee would not have even shown up!

In case you haven't noticed, the commission is being PAID to do this work. That means anything the members do that is outside the scope of the commission's work is secondary. The members should be devoting all their effort to this investigation, not to meetings with foreign leaders or anyone else. If Kerrey and Hamilton can't make the time to perform their duties, they should resign.

Keats should at least issue an apology to the American people for allowing this to happen.

If this commission comes out blaming bin Laden I'll probably doubt the outcome. I wouldn't believe a word they said.

Kerrey: "My office has received several calls asking why I left the White House prior to the conclusion of the session with the President and the Vice President. The reason is I had a previously scheduled meeting with Senator Pete Domenici on Capitol Hill."

If Kerry can't figure out which appointment should be changed, he isn't competent to sit on the 911 commission.

Lee Hamilton used to be my "next door" congressman. I live in Louisville and he represented the southern Indiana district right across the river. His district included part of the same metropolitan area as Louisville, and shared the same media outlets: TV, radio, and newspaper, if you can call The Courier-Journal a newspaper. Thus, I got to see and hear a lot of him.

I was, and continue to be, absolutely amazed by him. He is incredible to watch; he is so smooth. He will talk forever on any subject, and when he is done, you are saying, "Yeah, that's it! That's exactly right!" and the person standing next to you, who disagrees with you vehemently on that subject is going, "Yeah, you got it! That's exactly right!"

Hamilton can simultaneously appear to be on every side of every subject without ever saying anything substantial, and take up so much time doing it that he leaves no time for any other questions by the interviewer. Trying to pin him down is like trying to nail Jello to the wall. I've never seen anyone better at this.

After complaining over and over again about Bush not testifying, these two clowns leave 70 minutes early. If this isn't shameful, please tell me what it is.

Right on!!!!

To imply that Pete Domeneci or the PM of Canada is more important is beyond outrageous. I could say so much more but I'm really pissed and need to just leave it at that.

"Fair is fair. It's a non-story."

With all due respect, are you on crack! It's only a non-story if this is truly par for the course. As far as the Dems go it is, particularly in regards to this Commission. It is not for the "adult party." This is similar to the Gonzales nomination where they demanded more anwers from the nominee then not one Dem took up his offer to submit written questions or to have a face-to-face.

Reason? Very simple:

No cameras

Also no swearing in....no recording devices....no stenographer....no one on one....no on the record....and not one single viable explanation as to why GW/Cheney had to meet together....

GW/Cheney have opposed this investigation from day one. Meeting the commission in this fashion only adds fuel to the dems "coverup" fire.

Not wise. Poor politics.

Some may say; "Well, Clinton showed up with Berger and a lawyer...." He did. But he did not predicate his appearance upon these demands. GW/Cheney refused to appear without each other, on record, under oath.

Looks fishy.

Maybe Mr. Hamilton was looking over old mail--

House of Representatives,
Washington, DC, January 21, 1994.

Hon. Warren Christopher,
Secretary of State, Department of State,
Washington, DC.

Dear Mr. Secretary: I write to ask for your comments on an article which appeared in the Wall Street Journal on January 14, 1994. This article, written by L. Paul Bremer, a former Ambassador-at-Large for Counterterrorism, raises questions about this Administration's commitment to effective counterterrorism policies and programs.

Specifically, Ambassador Bremer focuses on the Department's proposed reorganization which merges the Office of Counterterrorism into a new Bureau for Narcotics, Terrorism, and Crime, and on U.S. policy towards Syria, Libya, and Iran. Ambassador Bremer's article questions the President's commitment to a strong U.S. counterterrorism policy and specifically alleges that the State Department's office responsible for counterterrorism policy has been downgraded and reduced in size by 40 percent.

I appreciate your consideration of this matter and look forward to hearing from you on this issue. With best regards,

Sincerely,
Lee H. Hamilton, Chairman.

Right. We should let these idiots make demands on the President of the United States and he should jump when they ask.

No way. He has to remain in control or it would spiral out of control. They didn't want answers. They wanted to put the President on the spot.

Are you truly not understanding this?

You're right, Lana's wrong. The executive branch doesn't answer to the legislative branch (or it's commissions).

Besides, this extreme rudeness on the part of these two commissioners is what really "looks fishy"....and smells bad too. Their behavior indicates that they really aren't interested in answers.

Really stupid act by the two Dems...doesnt' make any sense. Their political nose should have told them to stay for the full session. But, the dems often do stupid things politically. Remember the Wellstone Memorial service?..One of the greatest political faux-pas' of the last 25 years..It got huge national press, and probably cost the dems a few senate seats. It took a few days to develop...Let's see how manytime those two clowns are on the TV talk circuit the next few days....they're gonna have to answer the question many times...and Hamilton, dissing the President for the PM of Canada...just really inept..
