Saddam Knew 9/11 Was Coming and Colluded with OBL for a Decade

In an effort to put in one place all the reasons why I/we think that Saddam Hussein worked actively with Osama Bin Laden, I am starting a thread which can be saved and added to over time.
We know Saddam worked with the PLO and other terrorists, he funded them. He at LEAST knew that 9/11 was coming.
less than two months before 9/11/01, the state-controlled Iraqi newspaper Al-Nasiriya carried a column headlined, American, an Obsession called Osama Bin Ladin. (July 21, 2001)
In the piece, Baath Party writer Naeem Abd Muhalhal predicted that bin Laden would attack the US with the seriousness of the Bedouin of the desert about the way he will try to bomb the Pentagon after he destroys the White House.
The same state-approved column also insisted that bin Laden will strike America on the arm that is already hurting, and that the US will curse the memory of Frank Sinatra every time he hears his songs an apparent reference to the Sinatra classic, New York, New York.

Could you please leave this in breaking news for a bit so it gets wide coverage?
The issue is becoming a political football again, even on FR, and I think the more people who understand the links Saddam had with OBL, the more steadfast people will be regarding the fighting in Iraq.

Hey. In 1998 the Clinton administration officially stated that bin Laden and al Qaeda were cooperating with Iraq on weapons development as outlined in
an indictment against bin Laden for the African Embassy bombings.

Saddam may have had links with Al Queda. But it should not matter at all. Is Al Queda the only terrorist group in the world? Is the US fighting a war on just Al Queda or on all terrorism? Iraq was a terrorist state even before 9/11.
The debate over whether or not Saddam had links to Al Queda may have some justification, but Americans should not be obsessed with it. The left makes these arguments all the time like "Saddam had no link to Al Queda." It doesn't matter at all if he did or did not. We know for a fact Saddam had links to terrorists. And this is a war on terrorism.
Looking and looking into the debate over Saddam and his links to Al Queda just to satisfy the left and others is a waste of time. If people believe in the war on terrorism, then Saddam's regime was a justified target. If they don't believe that Saddam was a justified target by the US as part of its war on terrorism, then they do not believe in the war on terrorism.

Anytime you can share, we'd love to hear, but we understand the need for secrecy.
The one thing I do want to know, does the Bush administration EVER plan to use the linkages between OBL and Saddam?

It is a matter of interest, not obsession, although I do think if we can take away the leftist argument that the war in Iraq has taken us away from the war on terror, it will only do the administration good.
That Iraq supported the PLO and others is beyond debate. That Saddam cooperated at some level with OBL is beyond debate. But too few people know about that cooperation.

You are correct. It is why it should be more of a wholesome proof of the terrorism, and not just proving links between Saddam and Al Queda, as if Al Queda was the only terrorist group, and by that fact the US going into Iraq was part of the war on terrorism.

Sorry to be blunt, but anybody who really doesn't think Hussein had links to Bin Laden is a moron. Religion has nothing to do with it.
Moot point anyhow. Hussein never abided by the terms of the cease fire from the first Gulf War. Bang - he's gone.

I am starting this thread to have one place for all the information.
Also, many people don't know or understand the connections (hard as that is to believe for me too)
And, we have some freepers (I use the term loosely) who jump on every thread and "hijack" it to convince the lurkers and uninformed that there is NO connection.
They are not Bush supporters and are working actively against him.

The debate over whether or not Saddam had links to Al Queda may have some justification, but Americans should not be obsessed with it.I couldn't possibly agree more, it may even be harmful to our cause.
There is no need for there to be a pre-9-11 link between Saddam and al-Qaida in order to justify the Iraq war. If there is a lesson from 9-11, it is that neither WMD nor state sponsorship is required to wreak devastation upon Americans on American soil. The Left surely hasn't grasped this lesson, but could we take the chance that Saddam didn't either?
Saddam had motive. He was humiliated by us in '91, and had already demonstrated in the attempted assassination of a former president, his willingness to strike at us in a clandestine manner. What's more, he represented the symbol of Arab power, and no scenario whereby terror can be said to be dealt with properly could ensue which didn't include his removal from power.

Text from one of my previous posts (on a thread you initiated), link at the bottom contains original links to articles:
In in 1998, an Arab intelligence officer, who knows Saddam personally, predicted in Newsweek: "Very soon you will be witnessing large-scale terrorist activity run by the Iraqis." The Arab official said these terror operations would be run under "false flags" --spook-speak for front groups--including bin Laden's organization.
Then there were the predictions by an Iraqi with ties to Iraqi intelligence, Naeem Abd Mulhalhal, in Qusay's own newspaper several weeks before the attacks that stated bin Laden would demolish the Pentagon after he destroys the White House and bin Laden would strike America on the arm that is already hurting. (referencing a second IRAQI sponsored attack on the World Trade Center). Another reference to New York was [bin Laden] will curse the memory of Frank Sinatra everytime he hears his songs. (e.g., New York, New York) which identified New York, New York as a target. Mulhalhal also stated, The wings of a dove and the bullet are all but one and the same in the heart of a believer." which references an airplane attack.
The Arabic language daily newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabic also cited the cooperation between Iraq, bin Laden and Al December 1998 editorial, which predicted that President Saddam Hussein, whose country was subjected to a four day air strike, will look for support in taking revenge on the United States and Britain by cooperating with Saudi oppositionist Osama Bin-Laden, whom the United States considers to be the most wanted person in the world.
FR Post
Please note for the record that Qusay Hussein ran the state run newspaper, which guarantees that Saddam knew in advance.

Yossef Bodansky, Bin Laden: The Man Who Declared War on America, 361:
The moment [Clinton's 1998] bombing campaign stopped, Saddam Hussein dispatched Faruq al-Hijazi to Qandahar. . .In Qandahar, Hijazi met with bin Laden to discuss future terrorist strikes against the United States. . .Bin Laden agreed in principle to spearhead the revenge campaign against the West in accordance with the recently agreed to operational plans but suggested further study and coordination of specific contingency plans and proposed operations. Both sides agreed on the urgent imperative to expedite the unleashing of the anti-American terrorist war.
