I think the first priority should be to elect as many Republicans as possible, then AFTER we have a comfortable majority in the Senate, THEN we can afford to take chances, such as defeating a Republican incumbent in a primary and taking a chance in the general election. But NOT until we do have the comfortable majority.
A most hated RINO may be the one who gives us the majority status and control of the Senate.
PERSPECTIVE.

I guess you are also one of those who preferred Davis or Bustamante.

The politicians are the ones who have no loyalty.
To: smokeyb
Yes, I'm sure you would, that's what I'm talking about. Your betrayal of our military as they fight for their lives, is a FAR more serious betrayal than anything Santorum could EVER do.
You want to worry about dead babies? Go talk to the parents of those who are sacrificing for you right now.

(If Kerry can't deal with the "Republican Attack Machine" how is he going to deal with Al Qaeda)
To: Dolphy
I didn't mention Santorum and am not limiting the scope of the observation to only this race. Republican politicians and their apologists are by and large gutless, and lack the courage to advance conservatism on its merits, believing, in their neediness for approval from the Left, that by convincing the press and the Democrats not to say mean things about them they can advance the most timid imitations of the GOP agenda by stealth. The electorate smells the fear on the Trojan horses, and understandably concludes that conservatism is something to hide rather than a worldview that can make its own case. So, in election after election, the guardians of gutlessness insist on milquetoast candidates in the service of some "big picture" which can only be envisioned by admirrers of this or that imperial wardrobe. Fear and cowardice aren't the solutions, they are the problem. It's in the service of fear and cowardice that we now have CFR, burgeoning GOP spending, and the prescription drug swindle. Big picture, that.

Santorum was returning the favor Specter gave to him. You see, Santorum actually has integrity and doesn't stab people in the back. I know that's a problem for some.

What are they doing campaigning for here for Specter when they should be trying to get GW elected ? Our boys are fighting for us and they spend their time trying to get Specter elected ? How about trying to make sure GW gets elected FIRST !!!!!!!!

Nothing will open the eyes of these "death before electability" so-called conservatives, many of whom expressed that they actually rather have a Democrat elected. Does that sound like a conservative, who wants to see a Democrat elected? I heard the same logic arguing against Reagan when he challenged Ford in '76. I'd bet my bottom dollar Reagan would have won.

OH ! I remember ! And I will never forget. And what does that have to do with this ? Are you saying that Specter will save us from letting this happen again ?

Wow... You REALLY don't like RINO Republicans or their "conservative" allies being challenged, do you?
Anyone else besides Specter and Schwarzenegger (and Bush of course) who are untouchable and beyond criticism?

You may recollect that when it came time to send the Clinton impeachment to the Senate it was Trent Lott and Rick Santorum who went over the building where the evidence was held (and they did not go to view the evidence - nor did the Senate members; but to tell those hardworking brave men that they weren't going to allow the process to proceed to the dignified Senate.
That was a major clue on who Rick Santorum is and that his political career is above justice!

Specter will be reelected and two years Rendell who appoint who the DNC wants to replace him! Because anyone who thinks Specter is going to make it through another term is not facing reality! It does not matter to the Dems; I know many ultra-liberal Bush haters in PA who vote for Specter and LOVE him!
