NEW YORK, May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Top Bush administration officials have been briefed on intelligence indicating that Ahmed Chalabi, longtime Pentagon favorite to become leader of a free Iraq, and some of his top aides have supplied Iran with "sensitive" information on the American occupation in Iraq, Newsweek has learned. U.S. officials say that electronic intercepts of discussions between Iranian leaders indicate that Chalabi and his entourage told Iranian contacts about American political plans in Iraq. There are also indications that Chalabi has provided details of U.S. security operations. According to one U.S. government source, some of the information Chalabi turned over to Iran could "get people killed." (A Chalabi aide calls the allegations "absolutely false.")

Chalabi IS A scumbag. The "prisoner" abuse scandal the same day as this, somebody has a hard-on for Rumsfeld.

PENTAGON PAL GAVE IRAN SECRETS: MAG
The NY Post
May 3rd, 2004
BY DEBORAH ORIN
WASHINGTON - U.S. spy agencies claim Iraqi leader Ahmed Chalabi, who has close Pentagon ties, may have given Iran's ayatollahs some top-secret tips on U.S. actions in Iraq and that could "get people killed," it was reported yesterday.
The Newsweek report claims electronic intercepts show Chalabi gave Iran "sensitive" tips about U.S. political plans in Iraq - but gives no details - and says there are "indications" that Chalabi leaked details of U.S. security operations.

Can
ANY of these people be trusted?
And I wonder what's going on in all the mosques in this country too. I wonder if they teach their children the same hate-filled "education" that they do over in Saudi Arabia and around the rest of the M.E.
One of these days after several busloads of non-muslim children are set ablaze and seen futily scurrying aflame to attempt to save themselves, Americans will figure it out. But naturally it'll be far too late by then as what "used to be a 'peace loving' religion has become a violent hate-filled epidemic resulting in the deaths of countless innocent Americans."
Meanwhile, many Americans are too busy with this "bread and circus" environment to care or spend the time to get informed about Islam. The bottom line is that you can't trust any of these people, muslims! They'll look you right in the eye and who knows if they'd try to kill you or stab you in the back if they had the opportunity and could get away with it.

Maybe it's time to sponsor an independent Kurdish state, arm it to the teeth, and pull out. Just my gut reaction - probably too cynical.

Personally I don't like the guy but this is Newsweek which I really don't trust. Cannot imagine anyone but anti-Bush/Rumsfeld Clintonites in the Pentagon leaking to Newsweek. Why would anyone except a Clintonite out to destroy Rumsfeld leak such information?

Rumsfeld and Cheney and Wolfowitz and Feith aren't as discriminating about choosing their friends as they should be.

Maybe the leak came from the State Department to get their "behinds" off the hot burner of that UN "Oil for rotten Food" program they help to facilitate!
To: Just mythoughts
Good point! State Department is filled with Clintonites and would sure divert attention from the Food for Oil scandal. Wonder who in the Clinton Administration was involved? If there is money to be made, the Clintons cannot be far away!

Maybe it's time to sponsor an independent Kurdish state, arm it to the teeth, and pull out. I don't like when our troops are being shot at by Iranians. Is Chalabi selling weapons to the Iranians to shoot at our troops.
This war is becoming profitable by Arms dealers selling weapons to shoot as us and our guys are told to hold back.
Your Kurdish idea should be done and to he$$ with Turkey.

Sure can tell it is an election year, the liberals are sure stirring up the muddy bottoms.
Thought I read earlier that JFKerry campaign was e-mailing these in Iran.

This Chalabi stuff originated with Chrissie Matthews who has a passionate hate for the guy and despises the fact any US sponsored individuals have played roles in the new Iraq. This report - particularly from the RAT infested Newsweek - is highly suspect IMO. That doesn't meen Chalabi has his own agenda that can, at times, differ from that of the US, but that doesn't mean I trust the likes of Spikey Isikoff or Howard Kerry Fineman.
To: Just mythoughts
You are right.
John Fedayeen sKerry e-mailed the Mullahs in Tehran and said the collaboration is critical.

I'm not sure I'm buying this. I don't really care for Chalabi but I don't think this is realistic at all. First of all the man is ambitious, but he'd be foolish to develop ties with Iran's mullahs. Even he knows that the mullahs will not be in charge for long.
I don't know why people are worried about the guy, elections are in January and he's going to be pretty busy just trying to campaign in the south. If he did something like this, the people wouldn't even think of voting for him.

Ahmed Chalabi has a history of working with Iranian intelligence. CIA agent Bob Baer was nearly crucified by the FBI in the mid 1990s after a cable was intercepted describing a plot to overthrow Sadam. The intercept was of an intelligence debrief of Chalabi by Iranian intelligence. Chalabi told them that a CIA agent named Bob something was in Iraq to overthrow Sadam.
Baer was in Kurdish controlled Iraq working with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)and was recalled to Washington at the insistence of Tony Lake. Lake was concerned that there was a rogue operation going on.
I highly recommend Baer's book "See No Evil" if you are interested in terrorism and the middle east.
P.S. Thank God Lake was not confirmed as Clinton's choice for CIA Director in 1996.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Thanks for the link -- I had not seen that. Clinton did a good job of installing a lot of Clintonites throughout the Government to cause problems for the Bush Administration IMO! Facts seem to support that statement as well!
I loathe the Clintons more by the day if that is possible!
