He will meet with small business owners, community college officials, and participants in job training programs. The President will also hear from families throughout Michigan and Ohio who are benefiting from the historic tax relief passed by President Bush.

The President will highlight the values that keep America's communities and families strong. In each city, President Bush will herald local leaders who are making a difference by helping friends and neighbors in need. These events will focus on faith-based organizations, mentoring programs and other community based programs.

Probably not the best advance work, considering both the Detroit Pistons and Red Wings had huge playoff games this evening.

Well maybe if the Redwings had wrapped things up earlier...

Hell of a game anyways.

I was in Dayton today - actually I was across the street from Hara Arena holding a Bush sign. News radio said there were 100 protesters but that was not true. There were around 100 people - 2/3 were Kerry supporters - 1/3 supported Bush.

The Kerry supporters from the beginning were for the most part a nasty lot. Yelling and chanting idiotic rhymes over and over. They had loud speakers and would rip apart a Bush sign if they could get their hands on one. Some would act like Bush supporters to go get a sign then they would take it and rip it up. The Kerry folks had some nasty signs too - obscene. My favorite signs, however, were the ones with improper English!!!

I was proud of the Bush supporters who tried to be polite and engage people in conversation or spirited, yet controlled, debate. They did not resort to name calling like the Kerry people did. The Bush people also knew the issues and could actually discuss why they supported the President. The Kerry supporters could not explain why they hated Bush other than to use memorized slogans then resort to name calling when they could not support their issues. It was pitiful. They were like mind numbed robots.

The thing that impressed me the most is the absolute hate of Bush and Republicans in general that the Kerry supporters were expressing. One woman compared us to Hitler. The air was thick with the animosity of the Kerry supporters. This is not healthy in a democracy and it concerns me.
