Group Says Kerry Released Edited Version of Military Records

By Brian Faler Tuesday, May 4, 2004; Page A04

A group of Vietnam veterans will release a letter today criticizing Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry's efforts to run as a "war hero" while releasing "only carefully screened portions" of his military records.

"You now seek to clad yourself in the very medals that you disdainfully threw away in the early years of your political career," the group wrote. "In the process, we believe you continue a deception as to your own conduct through such tactics as the disclosure of only carefully screened portions of your military records."

The group consists of veterans who, like Kerry, served on "swift boats" during the conflict. The letter will be released at an event sponsored by the Dallas-based Spaeth Communications Inc. -- whose founder, Merrie Spaeth, is mentioned on the Bush White House Web site as a "prominent" alumni of its fellows program.

The veterans organization demanded that Kerry authorize the Navy to release his complete military records. Kerry's campaign recently released a large number of the Democrat's military and health records that offered glowing assessments of his tour of duty. The Massachusetts senator spent 4 1/2 months in Vietnam, during which he received Bronze and Silver stars, along with three Purple Hearts.

"releasing "only carefully screened portions" of his military records.
"

Exactly.

WHY isn't Kerry releasing ALL of his service and medical records?

What is in them that he is hiding?

He is the one who brought it all up, running on his Vietnam record, so let's see it.

I don't need to see anymore of Kerry's military records, but I would like the media monkeys to stop calling him a "war hero".

Kerry threw that title away, along with its symbols.

"what is in them...?"

All those "atrocities" that he was party to and that he told Congress about.

I for one greatly appreciate the precendent that the compost established. From now on, all those press releases from the enviro-nazis will be prefaced with "Group reports..." rather than accepting their claims as true. Oh wait...that won't happen.

They will also push Kerry to republish his book, "The New Soldier" which Kerry surpressed and refuses to reprint.

"The book repeats John Kerry's insults to the American military, beginning with its front-cover image of the American flag being carried upside down by a band of bearded renegades in uniform -- a clear slap at the brave Marines in their combat gear who raised our flag at Iwo Jima," per John O'Neil - "Unfit for Office" May 4, 2004, WSJ

The Post is completely mischaracterizing this event. The fact is that the vast majority of John Kerry's Swift boat compatriots -- the very "Band of Brothers" on which he has staked his campaign -- is going on the record to state that he is unfit to be Commander-in-Chief. The group includes every commander Kerry ever had in Vietnam.

Let's see how long the establishment media can hide that.

Notice how the WPost carefully avoids naming members of this "group?" Could these lead paragraphs be damage control?

I'm sorry but I have had a problem with this from the first time I heard it. I have been a Marine Corps Wife for a lot of years and have known many marines and navy who had spent a heck of a lot more time in Vietnam then 4 1/2 months and this long list of metals in such a short period of time just smells mighty fishy to me.
