FR Exclusive: AP SPIKES JOHN O'NEILL - SWIFT BOAT VETS STORY
Tuesday, May 4, 2004 | Kristinn

Posted on 05/04/2004 6:47:21 PM PDT by kristinn

The Associated Press has spiked reporting on the press conference this morning in Washington, D.C. by John O'Neill and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth where they accused fellow Vietnam veteran and Swift boat unit member Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the presumed Democratic party nominee for president, of being "unfit to be commander in chief."

The stunning revelation was confirmed by the AP's Washington bureau this evening. A spokeswoman for the AP stated that the wire service had sent a reporter to cover the press conference. However, she said the AP decided against running a news article about it because, "It does not further the anti-Kerry Vietnam veteran story any."

Call these numbers tomorrow, not tonight because you'll just get the night staff. The decision makers work the day shift. I've already called both bureaus this evening.

The phone number for the AP's Washington, D.C. bureau is (202) 776-9400.

The phone number for the AP's New York City headquarters is (212) 621-1500. Ask to speak to the president of AP as that is who the D.C. bureau chief anwers to.

UPI, Knight Ridder, CNSNews, National Review, Newsmax, World Net Daily have all run stories about the press conference.

Watching the press conference playing on C-SPAN 2 now, it reinforces the outrage I feel that the AP is spiking this story. Again, call in the morning. Be polite, but firm and passionate if that's how you feel.

>>Unfrikinbelievable.

Why? The AP is the DNC's press agent.

I thought they already had one or two -- the Compost, the NYT, and the LA Slimes, for a start.

From what I've seen of this press conference .. I can see why they spiked it

Since when do they get to determine what is and what is not news?

I watched ten seconds of Colmes and had to turn off the TV. Thankfuly, FR was here and I was able to read about the O'Neill press conference.

Can you detail how O'N put Colmes in his place, please?

O'Neill said that they wrote a letter signed by EVERY SINGLE COMMANDING OFFICER over Kerry that he was unfit for the presidency.

He said the only one that didn't sign it was someone who died, and his son signed the letter.

This sort of upset Colmes.

He really put Colmes in his place.

Colmes tried to jerk him around on his radio show a week or so ago, and John didn't care for it in the slightest.

Colmes referred to a Commander that John Kerry served under. O'N said that the guy only knew Kerry for three weeks, and that everyone in that particular group got praise.

Every single commander is now against John Kerry. There is only one commander who did not sign..and thats because he died. His son signed for him.

Hundreds of vets signed the Swift Boat complaint against Kerry. HUNDREDS!

That AP will ignore this is one more example of the Old Media's death rattle.
