This terrorist attack killed three thousand people and plunged us into war. Any and every scrap of information which might possibly shed light on the attack is important. Maybe the tape contained nothing useful, but it was not up to some a$$hole mid-level manager to decide that on his own, or to deliberately destroy the tape to prevent others from hearing it or analyzing it. That manager certainly knew the importance of 9/11, and he knew he was violating orders.

Ideally the person responsible for destroying the tape would now be serving about five years in prison. At the very least he should be fired and identified. He forfeited his "privacy" when he committed that act, and he deserves to be outed and crucified in the arena of public opinion. More importantly, other government employees need to learn that there are major consequences for committing such acts. This secret "discipline" (which for all we know might be nothing worse than a notation in his file) sends the opposite message.

One of the worst failings of the Bush Administration is that no one is ever held responsible for screwing up. No one is ever fired or ever blamed. That's lousy management. A top executive can't always be a nice guy. Bush has a management degree; he ought to know that. But he's obviously a better politician than he is a CEO.

That's very interesting. This guy was more "Scared" (is that it?) of some union thug than he was of destroying evidence in the worst act of terrorism ever committed within the U.S.???

That is VERY interesting... There is clearly more here than meets the eye. Imagine this - you've got a piece of evidence in your hand, which you *know* may be of considerable interest to law enforcement agents who are not to be trifled with on this issue - and you destroy it?

It wouldn't matter to *me*, WHAT I had promised some Union goon - even if I cared nothing for the security of the United States, I'd be *far* more worried about the consequences for my sorry ass of the FBI finding out I'd destroyed evidence like that, than I would be about violating a confidence with some union thug.

Unless, of course, there's something going on here that we don't know about...

Not like he just casually threw it away, huh? He sure went out of his way to TOTALLY destroy it. Makes you really wonder what was said on it to make him go that overboard. Something was said and recorded that they didn't want heard ever again.

The quality assurance manager said he destroyed the tape because he felt it violated FAA policy calling for written statements from controllers who have handled a plane involved in an accident or other serious incident. He also said he felt the controllers were not in the right frame of mind to have consented to the taping, the report said. is a fascist lib democrat.

The tapes referred to here were tapes of an interview with the controllers after 9/11. This is not a normal accident investigation procedure. This DOES NOT refer to the actual pilot/controller voice recordings during 9/11. All radar data and audio is saved for a minimum of 5 years unless there is some kind of litigation, which on this one will be a boatload!! The controllers are also required to fill out a written statement after the occurrence. This is also retain for the same time frame as the above mentioned. CASE CLOSED!!!!!!
