All right.
That does it.
I am going to say it.
EVERYONE who ever went to boot camp was humiliated more than these people were in Baghdad.
And I mean EVERYONE!
TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: abuse; boot; camp; iraq; iraqipow; island; marines; parris; parrisisland; semperfi; usmc

I am sick to death of hearing how abusive this treatment was to these prisoners.
We were treated worse at Boot Camp than these people were.
And every veteran here knows it.
And NONE of us are asking for the president of our time period to apologize to us for it, either!
I may have never had to simulate sex acts with other men, but I did see men ordered to simulate masturbation with a hot dog, seen men cry about having to wet their pants, seen men humiliated over dear john letters in front of the platoon...
And since I was in Parris Island in the late 70's, I went through one of the easiest times Parris Island ever saw.
The 1960's Marine Corps vets and Army Vets are invited to post what happened in their platoons to show America and the world just what abuse is: BOOT CAMP IS ABUSE>
Scaring people who were trying to kill you is not abuse!
To: RaceBannon; kdf1; AMERIKA; Lancey Howard; MudPuppy; SMEDLEYBUTLER; opbuzz; Snow Bunny; ...
Mere words cannot erase these images.

And I dont hear the Arab or Muslim world apologizing to us for these acts, either, I hear them rejoicing over it!

The pre-basic physical was, without a doubt, a very traumatic time. I was forced to stand in a line of about 50 naked guys, while the doctor poked, prodded, and made us caugh.
"Bend over and spread your cheeks" was the command.
"Small b**ls, this man has small b**ls", one doc shouted, when examining one of the 17 year olds.
I was fortunate, but still embarrassed. I was 20 at the time, and had seen a good portion of the world.
Some of the kids just broke down and cried.
One failed because he had big boobs. He was led out of the room crying, too.
That was the medical exam just prior to raising our arms and taking the oath.

Drudge has a link that the pixs we've seen are the tip of the iceberg. Some of the stuff described there is pretty bad. It looks like these guards were scum.
OTOH, I wonder why those Dems (and CBSNBCNYTIMES) weren't calling for the head of Gray Davis when abuses just as bad were found in his state prisons.

Don't know about the Marines but I had 17 weeks of infantry replacement training in wartime WW II where we learned how to shoot and defend ourselves. GIs were taught how to kill. When we captured the enemy, we never got to taking their clothes off, piling them naked and looking at their c-cks. Participating in these perversions would have been more demoralizing to us than to them.

These pictures you posted are REAL PERSPECTIVE!
As much as I hate "seeing" what was done by our soldiers; this is WAR and sometimes prisoners may get humiliated!
At least these Iraqi men were not burned to death, dragged through the streets, had their dead bodies hung on a bridge, had their organs spit on and kicked through the streets only to be eaten my rats, dogs while crowds cheered.
To: RaceBannon
Boot was as worse. I was a little too ebuillient one night and a nasty female cop played some crappy games with me sorta like that white trash did.
And I pledged a frat...it was worse than that...and I didn't feed anyone into any plastic shredders or beat people with axehandles or rip tongues out or throw people off roofs or kill children in front of their mothers or any of the wonderful things Teddy Kennedy seems to want to absolve these scumbags.

I have vague memories of a failed platoon rifle inspection,
of hours of PT wearing ponchos in july, of the manual of arms back to back with bayonets, with foot lockers, and finally the DI asked did we want to hit the showers
and screaming "SIR YES SIR!"s and so he said "INTO THE SHOWERS.......WHAT THE HELL DO YOU GIRLS THINK YOU"RE DOING, LEAVE THOSE PONCHOS ONNNN!" Then all 90 of us in the shower doing jumping jacks with the hot water running and several bottles of ammonia thrown in for good measure.
We were packed in so tight all I could do was jump up and down a little.
Finally it was over, the nightmares hardly bother me at all nowadays.
And as you say it wasn't even the "old Corps".
From the 40s, two platoons would line off, be ordered to
remove a boot and proceed to slug the other guy with it
and no skrimshanking there!
This situation however is something different and while not
atrocities as practiced by the Baathists was wrong and people need to pay for their actions. It does not I repeat not, go to the President or Secdef any more than someone caught smoking pot or any other
breaker of the rocks and shoals. (UCMJ)

their women and children come out to cut up and mutilate our wounded and burn their bodies
These are the same psuedo life forms that gang sodomized our severely wounded female soldiers...
I cannot imagine having to guard this pseudo human garbage...having them fling feces at you spit on you...masturbating and flinging what ever it is thesd sub humans produce....
Without dragging them out of their cells and hosing them down, putting the cattle prods to them, and working them over with a good pair of heavy duty steel toed boots...
Now Rummy is kissing their arses...asking for their forgiveness and giving away U.S. taxpayer money to the little darlings and "setting them free"....see how fast they get their hands on a RPG or two and nail the first Humvee load of GI's they can...

To: RaceBannon
On DU (yes, I admit I go there sometimes) there are threads saying that there is a picture of a 16 year old boy being raped by a guard and also that a twelve year-old girl was beaten.
The American people won't stand for kids being abused. If those pictures come to light Bush had better make the heads roll or he is toast.

I've heard of platoon football. Two platoons line up facing each other on opposite sides of the grinder. Playing both offense and defense, the goal was to run to the other goal, while hitting and tackling the opposite platoon. No football needed.

Except for the locker room stuff that happened when we did swimming training at MCRD San Diego in the late 1950's, I don't recall any humiliation in boot camp (well, maybe exept for that jerk that they made wear a giant diaper made out of a bed sheet over his uniform and march in front of the platoon because he was a chronic bedwetter)that had a sexual connotation to it. Wholesale PT and mental intimidation was more the game at that time.
However, we did have one DI who had a definite penchant for punching recruits around with both a closed and open fist get shitcanned for brutality after some officer's wife saw him openly doing it on the grinder(parade ground)one afternoon and bitched to her husband about it. Personally, I was glad so see that guy go down the road, I'll tell you. Are your out there, Sergeant Thomas?

It will take an organized effort to assemble true patriotic military veterans and like minded people to counter the left's continued attempts to destroy this great nation. I am afraid if it is not done soon the damage will be so great we will not be able to recover.
Look what the self-serving democraps have done with the "prisoner abuse" incident. As bad as it is it was amplified to the world stage for one purpose, and that was to attack President Bush and his administration.
The abuse of prisoners of war is a crime and it should never have happened, especially by the hands of American soldiers. The explotation of this terrible crime by the left wing democraps is more serious than a crime, it is treason.

This is another one of those ridiculous posts that avoids facing the obvious; we, as a nation, screwed up. Those prisoners were our responsiblity and we devolved into some weird, perverted sadism that shames all of the good things we have done so far to win freedom for the Iraqis.
I went through bootcamp in the mid-60s and as goofy as that was, we all knew it would be done in 13 weeks. We also knew that there was a reason for the stress and the craziness and that was to prepare us for war.
Even when the enemy commits some act of barbarity, it does not mean that we should become garbage too.
That is what those troops at that prison were: garbage. That goes double for the "leaders" that knew/encouraged what happened there. They were criminals and they have dragged down all of those good people that have risked and given everything to defend our nation and to win over the Iraqis. How many more good men and women will lose their lives now, because some rear-area perverts decided to use helpless prisoners for their personal enjoyment?
