As I heard Rumsfeld explain it, this issue was still in the criminal investigation stage, that is not yet delivered to the Pentagon.

It was secret, for the protection of the defendants, just like our Constitution provides.

Hillary and/or her leakers were in violation of the law and the Constitution by passing it along to ANYONE not directly connected to the criminal investigation.

That said, Clinton's left booby traps all over the Executive branch.

In addition to taking the photos in the first place, the release of the photographs was a clear and direct violation of international law.

My guess...on how this all became public in the first place...is that the investigtors had to move files (text and images) around by email. Its very likely that some Army moron or some contractor sitting at the LAN help desk...was browsing through incoming traffic to an organization and saw some bulky files. They open them up...read through...and realize the whole story. Its of tremendous value. They call a friend to discuss how to "advertise" these. They find a couple of major news organizations....CNN, CBS, foreign services, etc. You simply show one photo and the news folks are ready to wave $20k for the whole group of photos. You sell these very quickly. You walk away. It'll be impossible for Rummy to track down the leak here if the LAN administrator was doing it. And the bottom line is that they should have moved the traffic via classified means and it would have been more protected.
