What if President Bush gave this speech?
Posted on 05/09/2004 5:57:52 AM PDT by Hillary's Lovely Legs
My fellow Americans:
As you all know, the defeat of Iraq's regime has been completed. Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.
This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American Forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.
Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there.
The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's Nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.
Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.
The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world hellholes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption. Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic?
Call France.
In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home.
On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the Earth. Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize?
Try France, or maybe China.
To Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Yo, boys. Work out a peace deal now. Just note that Camp David is closed. Maybe all of you can go to Russia for negotiations. They have some great palaces there. Big tables, too.
I'm ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.
I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. Pay your tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers, and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.
A special note to our neighbors.
Canada is on List 2. Since we are going to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.
Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I have a couple extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I'm gonna put 'em? Yep, border security. So start doing something with your oil. Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty---starting now.
It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens.
Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them be saying darn tootin'. Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet.
It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup soccer from America.
To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you.
To the nations on List 2, a final thought. Drop dead.
God bless America.
Thank you and good night.

"The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. So far as we have already formed engagements, let them be fulfilled with perfect good faith. Here let us stop. Europe has a set of primary interests which to us have none; or a very remote relation. Hence she must be engaged in frequent controversies, the causes of which are essentially foreign to our concerns. Hence, therefore, it must be unwise in us to implicate ourselves by artificial ties in the ordinary vicissitudes of her politics, or the ordinary combinations and collisions of her friendships or enmities."
Pres. George Washington
Farewell Address, 1796

Well, it would certainly be entertaining, if nothing else. I'm not sure if I would support abandoning our superpower global hegemony in order to build a bigger, 'better' Great Society welfare socialism, but hey! at least it'd be amusing to watch the reactions.. =)

As a Christian I am incensed that another person calling himself a Christian wants government to take my money to give it to someone else. I don't believe government should decide who gets my charity. I believe I am perfectly capable
of deciding who to help with my charity. That is not supposed to be a function of government.

The Bible not only tells us to care, but how to care. Its from one heart to another. Taxing us so that our governemnt can give to some other government is unbibical, unconstitutional, and has historically not worked. The money from our government winds up getting stolen by theirs.
Also, our aid to Egypt and Israel alone is something like 7 billion a year. Our UN contribution alone is close to the figure you cited. We would save a lot more than $350 million if we did this.
It is a moot point though, because W would never give this speech. Michael Peroutka might.

I too am a caring Christian, but let's face facts. If throwing money in the form of foreign aid worked, the job would have been completed long ago. And that's just by federal dollars.
Christians (and non-Christians) around the world send millions of dollars each year in aid. I'm a member of the Nazarene church, and we alone earmark a very large quantity of resources for foreign aid...not to mention our missionaries and in-country workers. What do they get for it? Slaughtered. Beaten. Imprisioned.
I'm not saying we shouldn't press on toward the goal; rather that, according to many sources, the latest country in need of missionaries and aid is: AMERICA. Our own country is a mission field, as well.
The spelling and punctuation is the best you get on only 1 cup of coffee. lol ;-)

I am also a caring Christian. What is wrong with cutting foreign aid and the taxes that support it, then allowing the taxpayers to decide where there money goes? If John down the street wants to buy a new car, whereas I want to send money to China(haha), so be it.

Especially, "It is time to eliminate (the) World Cup"
(nice insert of humor)
However, if Dubya DID make that speech there wouldn't be enough ambulances in the 'beltway' - all the RATS and 'one-worlders' at State would go into apoplectic shock. But that would be a good thing, wouldn't it.

And I'd be deep down he'd like to give a speech like this (minus the NAFTA thing. I think he really believes in that.) But 90% of this speech I could just hear him saying it. He wouldn't because the Press and sKerry's hoods would rip him a new one. Although...on second thought...this could be his second innaugural address...Hmmm. Buy stock in Fruit of the Loom just before the innaugural. The world leaders will need new underwear after, as you say, they crap their current ones.

What percentage of your income should be earmarked for foreign aid? I'd be willing to bet it's far different from mine.
"...(T)o compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical; that even the forcing him to support this or that teacher of his own religious persuasion, is depriving him of the comfortable liberty of giving his contributions to the particular pastor whose morals he would make his pattern, and whose powers he feels most persuasive to righteousness. direct taxation is the most efficient way of organising help for people both at home and abroad. I'm looking at my pocket version of the Constitution, and I can't find the section where it says the federal government has the right to tax citizens and become the world's Santa Claus. Even better would be to see the faces of everyone across the world as they got the news.

the federal government has the right to tax me and spend the money on the Zionist project? Nope, unless its done for defense purposes. So I guess the question is: Is the money to help sustain the region's only democracy considered vital to the overall defense of the USA?

I would be more than happy to have checkboxes on our tax returns stipulating what percentage of our taxes that we want to go where.
I would proudly and happily check the boxes to support our military and our war on terror, and I am sure that all intelligent Americans who understand what this war is about will do the same.
We are blessed to have a president and his administration who had the guts to rid the world of a ruthless dictator, liberate a nation, and protect America from further terrorist acts.

I am saving post #42 because it's important to know how democrats think and there wasn't any offensive language. We must keep the light on the democrats so that we know what we are up against, and poster
'another side' signed up today so that he could post his words, bless his heart.
Check your math Hillary, our foreign aid outlays(12.9 Billion in 2002) will not come close to paying for the war. Here's my idea. Everyone who supports the war should be willing to pay. We will have a sign-up sheet of sorts, I know that all honorable pro-war Americans will sign up. After the sign-up period we total the war's cost, divide the number of those that wanted to fight into the final cost and arrive at a price per participant. If you wanted to fight this war but did not actually go fight it in Iraq I am sure you will have no objections to paying for it. Get out your checkbooks.
