WASHINGTON (AP) The Senate by a single vote rejected an election-year effort Tuesday to extend federal unemployment benefits.
Democrats tried to attach the benefit to a corporate tax bill. On a 59-40 vote in the GOP-controlled Senate, they fell just shy of the 60 votes needed to overcome objections that extending the benefits violated last year's budget agreement.

I love it! David Wade, the reason you didn't succeed this time is because your man failed to show up for work. Again!
Kerry will have a hard time explaining this to his buds down at the labor union hall.
Kerry spokesman David Wade said, ''John Kerry has fought again and again to extend unemployment benefits for workers left behind in the Bush economy. The reason we haven't succeeded is because George Bush opposes extending unemployment insurance and so do his allies in the Republican House of Representatives and 39 Republican senators.
Kerry 'fighting' for the little guy again.
I think democrats are staying unemployed to keep the numbers up. Now they'll have to go back to work. Good news for America=bad news for dems.
He voted for the extension before he decided not to show up and vote for it!

Fellow Freepers here is the best part!
Kerry was the only Democrat Senator absent from the voting!
His vote would have given the 60 needed!
But he was out talking about voting instead of voting!

Kerry will find some way to blame it on Bush. Look as what those nasty Republicans went & did.
Thanks very much for posting this because I was about to post it. I emailed Ed Gillespie and asked him to please make an ad about this. I can't believe that the GOP wouldn't! What a gift! It's a hoot! hehehehe!
