If at all possible I will go. I am using my computer at the moment as my vehicle to get everyone I know to e-mail the President and Vice President.

The nyt and their cohorts seem to want to keep the President and those who support him in constant turmoil. They know the President has more important things to do then to constantly refute their charges.

MANY, MANY REASONS WHY RUMSFELD SHOULD NOT RESIGN
NewsMax Poll: Overwhelming Support for Rumsfeld
NewsMax.com
Thursday, May 13, 2004
In just three days NewsMax has received more than 100,000 votes in its online poll on the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal.
The non-scientific results show that NewsMax readers – and Internet users across the Web – overwhelming support embattled Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
More than 9 out of 10 respondents said Rumsfeld should not heed calls by Democratic critics that he resign.
By almost equal margins, respondents said they approved of the job Rumsfeld has done and felt the media was "overplaying" the scandal.
If you haven't voted yet, you can still do so in the ongoing online survey by clicking here.
Here are the poll questions and results:

1) Should Donald Rumsfeld resign?
Resign: 7%
Not Resign: 93%

2) Do you approve of the job Donald Rumsfeld has done as Sec. of Defense?
Approve: 93%
Disapprove: 7%

3) How would you describe media coverage of the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal?
Overplayed: 90%
About Right: 7%
Not Enough: 3%

4) Did you support Pres. Bush's war on Iraq?
Yes: 94%
No: 6%

5) Has the prisoner abuse scandal changed your view of the war?
Yes: 3%
No: 97%
6) Do you still approve of the job George Bush has done?
Approve: 94%
Disapprove: 6%

there is almost no way Rummy can be a liability. He is the face of the military in the war on terror, Bush's entire credibility in pursuing military action rests with Rumsfeld. People are caring less and less about this prison stuff, especially after the Berg atrocity.

Rove cannot be that stupid.

If Rummy goes, it will be a victory for the New York
Slimes and the rest of the liberal media. Yes, Kerry
will be elected, but the media will be in charge.

The prospect of Donald Rumsfeld leaving his job is very much alive, the NYT is planning to report on Thursday Page Ones,

I thought Jayson Blair was fired. Perhaps the NYT didn't get rid of all of its dishonest "journalists".

This had better NOT have any truth to it.

Please! It's the NYT, the fountainhead of "truth"! With support for Rummy at about 70%, this forthcoming article is wishful thinking by the Old Gray Lady.

I haven't read Drudge nor do I intend to..... But the possibility of upper level resignations are always front and center when major controversay is running rampant. If Rumsfeld believes he is a liability I would think it's his duty to tender his resignation.

At somepoint one or more will during this event, imo.

Lawmakers Say New Abuse Photos Even Worse

By PAULINE JELINEK, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. troops went beyond the photos seen by most Americans, shaken lawmakers said Wednesday after viewing fresh pictures and video that they said depicted forced sex, brutality and dogs snarling at cowed prisoners.

Some members of Congress said they feared that making the images public would inflame international outrage and endanger Americans still in Iraq (news - web sites). The private screening of more than 1,600 photos in a top-secret room of the U.S. Capitol came one day after Islamic militants announced they had beheaded an American in Iraq to avenge abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison.

"I don't know how the hell these people got into our army," said Colorado Republican Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell after viewing what he called a fraction of the images.

"I saw cruel, sadistic torture," said Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., who said some of the images were of male prisoners masturbating. She said she saw a man hitting himself against a wall as though to knock himself unconscious.

Others said they saw images of corpses, military dogs snarling at cowering prisoners, women commanded to expose their breasts and sex acts, including forced homosexual sex.

"There were people who were forced to have sex with each other," said Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-N.Y.

Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., said, "There were some pictures where it looked like a prisoner was sodomizing himself" with an object. He said blood was visible in the photograph.

This rumor is freaking me out. Novak said the other day that Rummy is on the way out, but I attributed that to Novak's endless pessimism (and I don't think he likes Rummy, either).

GWB shows a lot of leadership and courage and I hope that side comes into play here and he stands by Rummy...if the "compassionate" side wimps out I will be VERY upset. For now I'm going to think positive...

PS Drudge does a great job on a lot but the way he is ultra-sensationalizing what has happened out of context is definitely not helping matters.

"Yes. I still visit his site, but he has fallen into the same trap of sensationalism that the mainstream media has."

Exactly! I think that you have hit the head right on the nail. Drudge is now being used as a source by the mainstream-liberal-democratic-party-media-outlet. Therefore, he wants to get along with them, be liked by them, perhaps even be like them. I am amazed at the change at Drudge just since last year. It is alomost as if Drudge himself was replaced...or prehaps bought out by CBS, NBC or ABC and they are still using the name "Drudge" but writing grocery store tabloid stuff...kinda like the New York Times...

It's scary. I feel like Rummy is there to take no guff and protect us. I trust him to put America -- and Americans -- first like I trust few others.

Thus a sensible person, applying the Thoughtomator(tm) NY Times Rule-of-Thumb, arrives at the conclusion that the Times is desperately trying to ressurect a dead possibility, and Rumsfeld is safe.

In aiming for Rumsfeld, they hit Nick Berg. Go left-wing team go.

Did anybody watch Rumsfield being grilled by Leahy today.

The look on his face was one of total disgust.

If he resigned, it wouldn't be because he was under pressure from the press or Bush.

IMHO, it would be because he's tired of all the stupid games the Dem politicians are play and is just down right fed up.
